I now just realize how good Dying light is.
They released a finished complete game. The expansions are real expensions, as good as a full game.
Not to mention the game is still given small DLCs and Events to this day. Gotta buy that Savvy Gamer bundle one day.
I lost interest shortly after the beginning. Just seemed like fetch quest after fetch quest. I'm sure I'll return to it at some point
you should go play it. It's better than most new gams today.
Honestly, I think The Following DLC is actually *better* than the base game
@@nickgarcia1292 That's normal. Every great game usually has a boring introduction. Skyrim with the execution scene. Witcher 3 with White Orchard. Keep playing and you'll see why this game is beloved by many.
I remember I used to be terrified of this game, now with 3.5k hours, the only real threat I face is Crane not wanting to grab ledges.
I just got the grapple, and trying to grab onto high ledges is suicide because crane doesn’t grab anything even when you press the button, unless the grapple is attached to something more short ranged. Maybe I’mJust not used to the grapple yet. It can be useful but still.
😂😂😂😂😂 bro crane annoys the shut outta me, like bestie GRAB THE LEDGE
3500 hours??
@LongJohn Silver right? What’s the fucking point if the mf doesn’t grab the damn ledge?
Not the Ledges please
I molded for hours just for Crane to grap one of them
The one that really got to me was the mission “Chasing Past” where you’re following clues from a tape recorder from a kid who ends up becoming mute due to a traumatic experience and his buddy Mike. Mike ends up being a dog and the traumatic experience is the kid goes down to the basement and sees dismembered bodies butchered for cooking and the dog as well. Turns out it was a cannibal that lived in the apartments and while you find this out, the cannibal comes out and attacks you screaming “MEAT, MEAT.” Threw me all off
Same here 😁
Umm, wtf
@@engihere5434 this is an actual thing you know
This mission creeped the shit out of me
Dude I was thinking about that mission as well man creepy asf because you have the white and black atmosphere
This game had the best community I've ever experienced. So many nice players jumped into my game and hooked me up with high level weapons and just left or hung out for a while
This is so true ... i first was confused why people joined my story game and stayed although i was really slow thinking and acting at some times but they still stayed and helped me out every single time and i was confused because i thought they wanted something because most of the gaming community is selfish and doesnt help if they dont get something in exchange .... really nice community in dying light ... refreshing
@@vinceloeschke6256 I tried to bring that mentality to other games. In gta I always invite everyone on the map to my garage and let them pic a vehicle to try out and would help them do their business missions.
Everyone I met in dying light was friendly and very giving. Not many communities are this awesome I hope 2 is the same I'm excited to get it
@@THIS---GUY thanks for making the gaming community better lmao, I remember this one time this guy on dying light gave me a bunch of rare weapons and I just thought it was so cool how other people were helping me
@@vinceloeschke6256 nice to stick around for exp along with having a battle buddy.
Some guys gave me really high level weapons before leaving that made the game so much more easier
I remember the first time I faced the night in this game without really knowing what Dying Light was like.
Honestly, it was one of the most terrifying experiences in games for me, I think only Alien: Isolation could match it.
Edit: much love from Brazil!
For me it was the second night
The first one, you're close enough to the tower that its pretty quick and easy. But the second one, I was deep, away from all claimed safehouses. Literally took the whole night trying to get to one, ended up not making it and just barely managed to survive the night
I still remember shooting the volatile as it ran at me, but just before it reached me, the sun came up, and I legitimately felt true relief when the volatile started burning and running away
Bruh i shit my pants in that moment
im still avoiding the night like a pelage, now later on i might not but for now im doing it wtih Perouse, because i do not like it! and the voltiles as bad ass as they are whne seeing em as a veiwer its scarry as fuck when playing.
Dude, that first mission with the Volatile chase... I never lost the Volatile. It chased me the entire fucking time until I made it to the tower. The only time I was so scared I nearly passed out in a game. It make me light headed
@Patrick Shepherd the following wasnt that much of a horrific experience in my regards. i always had close to 40 bandages, so i was mostly reckless since i had backup
Clocked in over 400 hours in the first one. Every now and then I’ll revisit it. It is my favorite game of all time.
My best friend and I picked the Platinum edition up last week...were at 80 hours already >.> lol
Consider Deus Ex 1 for the scenario, replayability and small details here and there, it's top notch
Same!
400 hrs?? How many times did you play the game? Online also i guess no?
@Austin Batton the games been out for 6.5 years, that's 60 hours per year. Really not that bad lol
What makes the first night even more unsettling is that you must go back all the way to the tower. Time progression is stopped and while your usual hideouts have UV-lights you're not allowed to sleep there
And also, first time playing you aren't even aware of the effects of UV light on volatiles.
is that a nightmare thing? im playing for the first time on normal difficulty and i slept on a nearby safe zone
@@blogdogs9462 not that I know of. Maybe it got changed or I remembered it wrong (haven't played in years). I ran to a nearby hideout and couldn't sleep, but maybe it wasn't fully unlocked (some hideouts only unlock the sleeping bag after a certain mission). The UV lights were on and the Volatiles couldn't find me there, but with time being frozen I couldn't just stand in the light until sunrise
@@blogdogs9462 Are you sure? Im nearly 100% sure you cant sleep until you reach the tower. Ive done the mission a few months ago and after your comment made so you must be lying
@@Handlemmm im not lying bro, but maybe it was a bug or someting
When I first played dying light and the night time came I saw it as a challenge and went out to get as much stuff as possible, then I found out about volitiles too early and almost had a legit panic attack. I had racked up so many points that I was determined not to just give up and reset so I went on a full on Sprint through the city and made so many wrong turns it turned into a 36 min chase sequence. From that point on, all of my runs at night were directly to whatever I was searching for and planned out a route to the closest safehouse before I even left
Lol tha volatiles r easy to lose inna chase like cops on gta4.
@@yOGlo I found that out later on but that first time was an oh shit moment
the atmosphere in this game was top tier, can’t imagine what new hardware will do for the sequel.

The first night was probably one of the most memorable and scary moments I can recall from this game. Eventually i got pretty used to it and found it far less scary and stressful, but hopefully Dying Light 2 can pull something even better off
Dying Light had the best campaign I’ve ever seen out of a game.
@@jakematic1618 Dying Light had an incredibly mediocre campaign though. Rais is literally just a copy of the villain from Far Cry 3 and I can think of several games that have much more engaging stories. That’s just me though.
@@Y33tastic I agree with the far cry copy, which is still hilarious to me as I found that out when I first played the game. 😂
@@Y33tastic Yes story was average but gameplay was too much fun. Also the open world was small but very rich. My only problem was that they should have made random encounters purely random like in Fallout instead of marking it on map. Also mission did not have much variety.
i stop play when am encounter the parkour zombie holy shit
11:00 I did this mission first try and HELL was I confused , I just straight up booked it and ran straight to the tower , without even thinking nor looking twice . No hiding , no “evading pursuit” , no nothing , I legit just booked it and ran like hell while screaming internally . The scariest moment when I was doing that was , the realization that the distance to the tower is 400+ meters and when I mini-peaked my mini-map and just saw this tons amounts of Red Triangles coming at my way . I never dared to venture during the night after that mission , not until the “Bolter’s flesh” mission
Same
I did the same man i become afraid of the night at sunset i always runing to closest safe house and call it a night didn't dare to go out in night except after many hours and good supplies
Dude, I didn't even realize that I had a torch with me until I went to sector 0 .I was basically blind on every dark places I visited. And the night was terrifying af without a torch.
I so miss the horror of night time in Dying Light! The heart pounding chases of the Volatiles and the turning of regular Zombies into Virals was just superb! Those were the good ol days in my opinion! DL2 has some good content, but nothing compares to the OG jump scares and constant looking around every corner while being silent.
I don’t care who you are, those Hunter zombies at night that chase you down are nightmare fuel.
you mean the volatile or the player controlled hunter?
@@blax140 the volatile! Yeah those! I couldn’t remember the names, my bad!
Volatiles ain't shit once you have a legendary two handed weapon tho lol, one-shot-andys at that point
@@sgtjohnson49 but in the early to mid game…holy fuck are they scary. Not only do they look disgusting but they can two-shot you early on
@@lobaandrade7172 oh yeah, no doubt lol
When I first bought this game, I actually quit playing it because it freaked me out too much at night with headphones on. I eventually got into it a few years later and put like 100 hours in. Great game.
I was really enjoying Dying Light until the first night mission - couldn't get through it and never played it since. I think Dying Light 2 looks amazing but just don't think I can handle it!
Same here, but I fixed it by playing coop with my brother. It's less scary when you have someone tobtalk to and watch your back.
Same
@@FrankYoungUK ya from the looks in 2 the nights, and for that matter nests are gonna be a lot worse, BUT UV is lethal tot hem and day is entirly humans only

For me personally the creepiest location is the sewers. Especially the one leading to the antenna. The setting, the volatiles behind the door, and that unsettling music is just creepy as hell.
Shew, yes, just did that mission in my second playthrough years later and made the mistake of trying to open the door. AGAIN.
Damn them for putting a prompt there … they just knew people like myself would look through the window and see what’s happening, but STILL try to open the door because there is a prompt that allows you to try lol. It’s the “no doorknob unturned, no container unlooted” mindset in open world games.
It’s one of those “fck around and find out” situations, because if you didn’t know…
You can walk on by that door, look in, never attempt to open it … and they will never chase after you, making the return back from the tower much more of a breeze.
It’s the details like that which make this game pretty damn great, because there are people that have played this game that didn’t know you could turn the knob and have them chase after you.
A game that manages to be scary (like in the night) without relying on jumpscares is a rarity in modern gaming
The devs of dying light deserve all the praise in the world, they never allowed the game to get boring, always something new to do, god I wish more devs respected their playerbase like they do
What are your thoughts on the story? Like many others I think that was worst part of the game. I'll say though, they did improve it with the Following DLC
@@bradcampbell8101 story is definitely debatable but not as super bad as some critics would like u to believe and yes they really redeemed themselves in that domain with the Following DLC
@@bradcampbell8101 Honestly Kyle Crane was super relatable, and I loved the characters so it was easy for me to get invested in the story! :)
Roger Craig Smith is an amazing voice actor, and the pain and sadness in his voice made the main deaths hit much harder.
@@bradcampbell8101 I liked the characters more than I liked the story, they all were very multifaceted with different experiences shaping who they are now, but the story was mainly a means to introduce new zombie types and locations, i did like how the perspective on the government begins to shift though, from being a Leon Kennedy sent to complete the mission to becoming the Hero of the people standing up as their protector
@@matthewhamilton2913 Absolutely do love that transition in the story and framing of Kyle and the government!
I personally really enjoyed the way Crane would act when he had to debt collector for Rais. His obvious disgust at the situation and trying to be as nice as possible while also doing what needed to be done was very humanizing.
By far the scariest mission was the running away from infintely spawning virals and volatiles towards the end of the story in the slums. You can't do anything but run
I still remember the soundtrack from that mission
yeah that was sick
I died a lot of times on that mission LOL. Everytime, i used to get stuck and forget to dodge certain pipes or remember to climb above at some parts.
I legit almost fainted there lol it was legit so scary
that was so horrific, i hated it so much. Once i finished it, my boyfriend was really impressed because he was scared too although he plays a lot of scary games
One of the thing that I really like to play Dying Light like "I Am Legend". Scavenging for supplies in the day time and then scrambling for a safezone at exactly 7:59 pm was so nerve racking. Then, I go to a safezone in an apartment (with noone else, just myself) and just stand there with flashlight on. Just observing the world when it all quiets down around you give it such a chill and lived-in feeling. Makes me feel like a true survivor.
Watching this after playing through Dying Light 2 a couple times makes me really sad at how much more scary the first game was. Don't get me wrong, I loved the second game. It's really fun and has awesome parkour and a cool world to explore. But its jut really not a very scary game. Night time is almost more appetizing in Dying Light 2 cause it's barely more dangerous but has TONS more loot up for grabs. It's really too bad they didn't keep the "feel" of the first game. The whole "Good Night and Good Luck" aspect of the series.
I agree
Yeah, the game while great is just too warm and welcoming, the first game actually was dark and you weren't safe unless you were in a safe zone, but in the second game all you need to do is go onto the roof of the nearest building and you're safe. I enjoyed the second game too, but it's just different.
I think you described the two games perfectly without just saying dying light 2 sucks beacuse dying light one exists.
Because back in the days those developers knew what they doing with the game and didn't try to mix different genres and didn't have all this fancy kind shits like weapons flame swords plasma katanas flying brooms and hoverboards. It's so sad to behold what has happened to this franchise and how it went completely on the same route like ubisoft completely ruined Assassin's creed. Don't let all those shiny effects disctract you from the facts, how much this game has been degraded from it's original predecessor.
@@user-qv9iv7vd6b If Assassin's creed is the comparison here then you've got your logic all the way fucked up. Let's say DL1 is AC2. DL2 is like Brotherhood or Revelations. Not as good as the first, but to call it a bad game is just wrong. What exactly was gonna be scary about a game where you know pretty much everything to expect, and it's like 15-20 years after the events of the first game. Everybody has already seen shit. Game didn't have to be scary nor would it have ever been scary no matter what they did.
Dying Light is so underrated, it's still being updated even though the sequel is nearly here!
No way I stopped playing years ago I might reinstall, game was huge
@@mightymqb4800 I've replayed it 3 times with 1 or 2 years in between and it's still good ^^
@@YMilkshake I've just got chivalry 2 it's pretty satisfying, not massive content yet but pretty entertaining throwing your enemies head at his friend 😂
Dude they are constantly updating this game, having special holiday things… some of the best developer support I’ve ever seen
I dont think its underrated - nearly everyone thinks its the definitive zombie+parcour game
I only went out 2 times at night in this game. The 1st mandatory mission and a 2nd time to help my cousin for a herb hunting side quest. Apparently these herbs can only be obtained at night and he refused to go solo xD.
Lmfao I don't blame him
I played the whole game without going out at night a 2nd time after the mandatory mission. It was so terrifying xD
Best way to deal with night missions is Zaid's Flares.
@@NeroLordofChaos that and camouflage
I never did that mission an missed a trophy because of it
Great video! Although you don't really need to sneak during the mission at night, its fairly easy to just run to the tower to be honest. It is indeed scary the first time you experience it, though.
The school mission is so unnerving, it gives me chill every time
Eh eh eh
Can't wait for dying light 2!!
dying light 2 when
Bruh how only 47 likes wtf
How does he have level 9 agility but 2 legend?
I remember being freaked out during the mission when you and jade, is looking for Antizine, (I’m not sure i spelt it correctly) when you’re going through the class rooms and hear nothing but the ambiance and distant roars. It kinda gets a little unsettling.
Yeah, was that the school mission that also has Rais' men?
@@Arch3an yeah, I failed to mention it was the school area.
@@jaylynturner9027 Yeah, not only did you have to worry about them, there was also zombies everywhere.
@@Arch3an yeah I kinda rushed through it ngl, I did loot a lot but once jade took the explosives I hauled ass.
Yeah same with the tower. Whenever I'm on the top floors, before night time you can hear the screams of the infected on the floors below. Right before night when watch starts beeping it sounds like total chaos as compared to outside.
It's one of the best games ever 😍😍 I used to not be able to go out at night until I worked out the nerves to do it a couple of times and that's when I got addicted to going out at night and missing around with volatiles
This game sucked
Darn Rite, loved going out at night chasing them green florescent monsters to get that herb while the Volatiles chase after you. Also liked standing at the very edge of a base at night and throwing grenades to cause the volatiles to swarm it then take them all out. Very fun game, I found several secrets also, like going through ledges finding the mini watermelon head zombies.

totally agreed, man, dying light gets quite creepy and the day-night tensions do get the best of you. i am currently at that collecting the bolter tissue at night mission and a few more missions that need to be completed at the night.
Massive props to the devs who have supported this game for years. It was an amazingly full product to start and they’ve just put others to shame in how they’ve handled this game since launch.
The scariest part of this game was a side quest where you investigate a house looking for some kids with no zombies in it, Chasing Past
Do you know the name of the side quest? I wanna check it out
scariest mission for me was Rupert the gunsmith or angel blade quest line. You had to go in his basement looking for his zombified wife to put her out of her misery and there were fucking mannequins everywhere and it was dark, so creepy.
@@PANCAKEPAP1 chasing Past
Damn that quest. It started off fun when Crane pieces together the mystery with detective vibe and filter in the background. Then you enter the basement and find the dog's corpse...
The one where it adds some filter to the game?
10:46 Fun fact: If you skip the cutscene, you will not get a pursuit. It helps quite a bit but all the explosions and random things that happen when you're getting back to the Tower will still trigger.
Fun fact. Fun fact is used pointlessly
5:43 "late night gaming paranoia mode" most understandable thing no one ever said that I wished has been said before
The best moment that I remember was during the mission or side mission where you have climb and cross over a large highway bridge. By the time I finally made it to the other side it was already nightfall and the area was crawling with those night creatures. I ended up hiding in a bus near the end of the bridge while there was howling all around me - daybreak never seemed so sweet
I got something similar I was messing around try to figure out this safe zone and try to figure out how to activate it and didn't realise it was already night before it was to late i found a hole sat their all night with my ass clenched so hard it could bend steel.
I'm gonna say it, Dying Light is one of the best video games ever. Truly a future classic, it already is. I always thought it's under rated but now i see people do appreciate it. Best zombie game imo too
What do you think of State of Decay 2 then?

I loved the list, but theres a creepy as hell side quest that you probably missed.
Idk how the quest starts, but you start hearing tapes of a kid and his detective Mike "his dog", while trying to find both of them. In the end you get to a room with tons of body parts along the dog with an open stomach on a table.
I loved that you included the fanzone one, was waiting for it 😅.
I remember this mission. That's when I want to get the dog's necklace then suddenly I was attacked by the butcher and I shot him down with an assault rifle and that's where I close the case.
Bro I forgot all about this mission, I remember when I first played it a couple years back it was creepy asf, definitely should be on here.
I dunno why this one wasn't on the list as it was way creepier than many others mentioned. The tapes start leading up to something horrifying and then yup, holy shit.

Yes. This was the first thing I thought of when I saw this video. I can't believe it didn't make the list.
When I first booted up the game, the characters were simply warning the player how volatiles are dangerous and never go in the night, and when I did go in the night in the airdrop mission, I screamed like hell running away from those volatiles.... It's just not only the Volatiles that makes the night scary, IT'S THE NIGHT ITSELF...Like I was afraid of the sun going down in the game because it really gets dark as shit and dangerous too...The title is just incredible for this game "Good Night Good Luck"

@@yOGlo when you're in the open and the sky is clear the moon we have moon light
Tbh I remember how scared I was telling my character ain't no time to be catching your breath bro run
Probably because it’s pitch black , you literally can’t see anything when compared to Dying Light 2 , the night in DL2 is mehhh , tbh you don’t even need your flashlight (in DL2) if you’re out in the open because the “moon light” is bright enough for you to see
He really made #6 sound alot tamer than it was. It's implied the guy still had a small sense of self as he is heard talking when you go down and investigate. As it turns out the volatiles put him in a spot where a ray of sunlight would shine down on him, basically torturing him for hours while the sun was out and in the right position, and he can be heard moaning in pain and saying "it hurts, please make it stop" or something to that effect.

What I've come to love the most about this game is that the devs are still involved, even while developing the new game. The fact that they do these huge online events where you can earn more amazing loot if you complete the goals - like who does that?! I admit, once you get up in level and score some amazing loot, it's nice to go hunting at night. Give those volatiles a taste of their own medicine!
The scariest part for me was anything related to volatiles and their more powerful type (Something like night hunter). I had never done any of the nest cleaning missions, because I was so scared to go outside at nights,
Night hunter is sacriest because it's player

brings back memories. this was one of the best games of the last 10 years. it is still fun to play now.
The mission where you investigate a kid and his dog, and a psychopath attacks you in a very small room screaming "Meat Meat Meat!" Scared the hell out of my friend and I, and he was probably the toughest enemy we had fought. 40 plus rounds from 2 combat shotguns to take him down.

The envoirment, the gameplay, the fighting mechanics, the leveling system, the graphics, storyline, characters... everything so GODAMM PERFECT. I'm so hyped for the new one right around the corner
I bought the platinum edition 4 days ago, except a silly little action game with zombie killing but got one of the best open world games ever, can't stop playing

@@asoonehui9372 damn son I barely got around 70 Its my second time beating it barely.
For me the scariest moment was at the end of the game (I think it was around there, but probably not), when you run from Rais , and volatiles and stuff chases you, and everyone shoots at you. My palms were sweating, I was panicking and it was definitely not fun. The most frustrating part (at least the first time I played the game) was climbing the highest tower in haran mission... I don't know if only I had problems but I climbed that tower for like 1 hour (probably not that much, but I found it hard and frustrating)

@@dasleepyfox9299 yea, i think i was asking if he was talking about the antenna
Jesus, the first time I saw one of those screamers, I almost had a heart attack.
They are bizarre.
This game was easily the most pleasant surprise for me on the PS4.
Agreed i bought ps4 and my first game was dying light
Same, lol i was scare to go out at night when i first played on my standard ps4, now I can’t wait to play the sequel on my series x, still my tv is 1080p though, so I’ll probably not gonna get that 4k60 smooth experience…..🥲
After tales of arise, I might play this. Haven’t played it yet and i’m not really sure how this dodged my radar.
I recently played a terrifying mission in ‘the following’ where a couple asks you to investigate crying noises by a well. Climb down the well and through some caves and water and find out it was a screamer child whose father was feeding it. Pictures on the wall and the zombie kid crying in the corner really through me for a loop.
Video
I did all of those things. Also freaky was the dash through the sewers getting to Old Town the first time. And really while not shocking or disturbing, many of the tower climbs had me a bit on edge as well. Those hives were all pretty crazy too, good to see you included one here. Also maybe just my opinion there was something disturbing about Jeff standing there and following you with his eyes in the tower haha.
I've put days and days into dying light and the quarantine zones always creeped and freaked me out like I've faced every enemy in the game and been overpowered for so long but those quarantine zones have just this creepy energy to them. I always stay away unless it's stuffed turtle ofc.
The screamers are probably the scariest part. Was exploring old town my first time playing it and heard a child crying, after what happened the last time early on, where you can rescue a child, I wasnt expecting what happened.
Got into the room and it was there. The extreme panic at seeing it, its effects and you how handle it made that whole section of the game horrifying. Stumbling across that was a powerful moment. It left such a large impact, I can still so very clearly see and remember what happened.
That and ... two of the things that happen at the end of the base game.
Hate horror, but Dying Light is an exception, and well worth at least a try.
It's weird to me that they didn't introduce the Screamers sooner considering one of the first few sidequests in Old Town involves one and they're also just on the map there in certain locations before you face one in the main story for the first time - unlike the Bombers and other variants, which are nowhere to be found until you do the main quest where they show up.
@@Briarhoes Thats a really good point.
Those crying babies freaks me out, first encounter with it is when I was doing (I think) the legless spider, had to search the house and that f*cker appeared ,no cutscene or intro for it (new enemy usually have cutscene on its first encounter)
This is one of my favorite games from last-gen. I just started my 3rd playthrough a few days ago, this time on PC. What amazes me is that even after 5 years, the game still feels and looks absolutely amazing. If you took someone who never heard of Dying Light and told them that it was just released last week, they would absolutely believe it and also be amazed at how good it looks. CAN'T WAIT for Dying Light 2!!
On the way to the broadcast tower you go through a tunnel network, my friend and I were playing co-op when we went into that mission. Knowing about the volatile easter egg, we decided to check it out and as we were doing that, we didn't realize that a whole bunch of volatiles had spawned behind us.
The screaming microphones, dropping UV lights and general lack of coordination managed to barely get us out of that tunnel.
All said, it is one of the memorable moments Dying Light has given us over the past 6 years and continues to even today.
I would like to thank the devs for all the awesome effort they put into DL1 and my preorder and adrenaline is ready for DL2.
Let's go dropkick some undead.
I love the thumbnail. You just Fr gotta love the volotile edited halfway out of the house with the BO2 tac 45🙏😂
Nice. I think this actually pushed me over the edge in giving the game a shot!
Guess I'll buy it tonight!
It's super fun, it's insanely fun with friends if you have any who can play it as well, but it's not nearly as scary with friends as it is solo.
You absolutely will not regret it, although it does go on sale often, if you want to wait for that.
I would also say it has a bit of a slow ramp up. Once you’ve unlocked a few abilities and get used to the free running it’s awesome
Just be aware that the combat is going to SUCK until you hit about level 10 and unlock better skills. Push through the first few hours, and the game is amazing
It’s like $15 on Xbox store so it’s a good buy for that price
What you didn't mention here 03:18 was that the guy was still conscious and screaming "It burns" and asking for mercy ....
I'm so glad this games getting recognition it deserves. I played this shit religiously when I was 17 and working weird chef hours. Came home and jammed this for years, seemed like no one in Australia at the time was aware of this gem or other countries, compared to now. Theres more dying light content in 2020/21 then there was in its release year. I remember some dude gave me infinite money basically, gave me a whole bunch of shit to sell and set me up like crazy that was insane considering I had played a heap and didn't realise how much in depth this game could be.
Dying Light 1 was noticeably better than DL2.
I’m gonna be honest, the first ever mission where you go down to floor 13 in the tower terrified me, it set an absolutely desolate atmosphere
I just can’t get enough of this game’s soundtracks specially that guy who screams on the loading screens “haaaaaaaaaah AAAAAAAH”
Really adds that stuck in jilalabad feeling lol
yeah that asian/middle-eastern touch was great, just added another layer to the dread of the game with an already awesome modern soundtrack, which still had roots in the 80s synth, just was amazing overall, Pawel did a great job
I just finished the main campaign of Dying Light on the Switch port. I wasn't sure what to expect, being the Switch and all, but I absolutely love this game. It's such a breath of fresh air, in a sea of mediocre games coming out lately. Definitely can't wait to play 2 next, on a newer console. Great video recap, a couple of these areas I missed and will check them out. ✌️
Both games have some really creepy and intense moments. From the storyline to the side missions and even stuff you find by just wandering around. I'd say the one that unsettled me the most in the first game, aside from the cannibal in Old Town, was the post office in The Following. As with most places, it looks pretty much abandoned. Until you got to find the Post Master's key. Of all the suicides by hanging that you find in this game, that one actually made me jump a little and just disturbed me.
This is one of the best games I've ever played, and the dev team from concept to post launch support doesn't get an ounce of the credit it deserved/deserves for not only putting together a solid and content filled game, but providing a steady stream of content post launch, much of it free.
This game did a very good job with setting the atmosphere of this game. I hated going out at night until after I got the grapple hook. Sometimes it still can get a little terrifying but the game in general has a good atmosphere. Even being out in daytime can feel creepy at times.
This was a refreshing trip down memory lane. I especially thought the psychotic maniac was off-putting, I was pretty much desensitized to zombies and night-time by the time I found that one. What creeped me out the most is that zombies act very primal, like an insect really. This guy CHOSE to do that. That is far scarier than any zombie.
already pre ordered! I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER, THANKS FOR SHOWING ME AGAIN HOW TRULY AMAZING THE FIRST GAME WAS!
I bet you were very disappointed
For me it has to be the side mission in where you find a crazy man in the basement eating some kids dog while listening to the recordings leading up to that encounter.
true i thought about that one too.
I only just bought this game, I was astonished at how great it is
Picked it up last week, felt like a complete idiot for ignoring such a gem. Preordered the $100 edition of DL2
@@traceyrinaldi4759 well at least now you get to experience it for the first time unlike most of us.
Think I might just give this a go myself
Nice i remember my first time playin it
@@traceyrinaldi4759 👍
I have to say that this is one of the best dying light videos ever made. Really good idea indeed
In your number 1 slot when the volotile spots you at the airdrop all you had to do was run to the water and swim away, it takes seconds and you can then become undetected and make your way back to the tower a lot easier - but it helps to have unlocked many safe areas ahead of time - thanks for this entertaining and informative vid
Can't wait to make videos about Dying Light 2 when I'm in high school, I recently started playing the first Dying Light again and streaming that was amazing, this game is going to blow my mind if it's an improvement on the Dying Light formula and is what Techland promised us, fingers crossed!!
🤞

I remember being in high school when the first game came out I was so excited for it. I know DL2 is gonna be the bomb!
@@simonreed8986 I'm sure it will
My dude: Chopin is pronounced "show-PAN". 👍🏻
This is my absolute favorite horror game and i don't even like horror games. I remember refusing to go out at night unless I'm forced to
Me and my homie once spent a full night in DL, trying to find our way to a safehouse. It was so intense, hiding from all the volatiles, then making a run for it in the end. One of the most memorable things I've had with him. Other than me falling off radio towers quite often.
I remember my first night mission with the airdrop where you had to burn the Antizin. The breathing, the background noises, screaming volatiles and getting a jump scare from biters behind you.
After 20 hours of gameplay I just willfully play the game always at night because I can easily massacre volatiles as well as face them head on. Having a high level electric element on my melee turns the chasers into tapdancers and easily blowing their heads off with a shotgun.
That 1st mission has to go down as one of the best of all time. The thing I love about those missions where you have to get inside is that it makes you cluster phobic and it's a different situation from being outside, they really nailed the first game even though the location needed some more life to it, I hope 2 is way way better
I have been planning to replay this game for months, one of my favorite games ever, I love the atmosphere and exploring in it so much. And I am a huge sucker for post apocalyptic settings.
Well for me. One of the creepiest place I been to within this game is going up on the ladder, exiting the sewers, into this creepy hallway right before heading into old Town. In this creepy hallway, everytime I go into the left room to open up one of the chests, I always hear a creepy sound like someone breaking through a door. When I peek out into the hallway to see where that sound came from, nobody is there. No signs of any doors broken. It just gives me the cold chills but at least I got my weapons. 😳
i can agree with the night being so scary!! the only time i absolutely went out was during the airdrop mission, and getting the bolter tissue on that other mission. now that dying light 2 is out it's pretty weird seeing everything being night based haha
#1 on this list is so true! I remember cowering in the corner of a room, trying not to make a sound, too paralyzed to move. This game brings next-level tension. Absolutely cannot wait for Dying Light 2!
I don't think I've ever been by that house with that Harry Potter easter egg. There's so much in the game, it's nuts. I love the game, it's really fun.
Location 2 gave me the chills, I for sure thought all the corpses were gonna come up and bite me as virals, then you get the creepy message and I Started to sweat a bit. Great atmosphere and tension build up in such a small building
I wholeheartedly agree with this list but there was also a mission where there was a school or a prison that gave this terrifying feeling as you walk through it
the side quest in the "daycare" where the children tell about the noises in the basement and u go investigate is a zombie woman locked there who the wife of the guy taking care of the kids was both creepy as like horror movies cliches and our own stories we get in our heads when we are kids and Sad as the man couldn't put his wife out of her misery.
Was searching for this comment. I was playing this at night and it made it even more scarier
Love your #1 pick. I’ll never forget when I was forced to go out at night. I had to take a break after playing that mission due to my stress/anxiety level!
The guy screaming in the volatile nest for someone to help him still haunts me
When I look back now this game was so amazing I went through it twice loved it sooo much i can't wait for the second one here in a month
Had a great time with this game, so cool that you can play the story co-op. Hyped for DL2!
Dying Light has to be personal best horror game I’ve ever played. Can’t wait for the sequel
oooh nooo, now i have to play it again!!!XD good job m8
Looks good 👍 the 1st one was well done, let’s hope the 2nd is even better!
I totally agree with this list and it’s an excellent video:) and another really scary part in the game is the cannibal mission in the old town orphanage.
I remember that one house but never knew you could activate the thing on that shelf.. honestly never seen the shelf since it was so high up in a little room. But yeah I always okay Dying Light late night usually when I've already had a few drinks and pretty much in the dark in my room.. that whole scene woulda freaked me out. I still jump scare ALL the time playing this game. I have a bunch of DL gaming on my channel. It's like my fav game everr and the main game I play. I can't wait for part 2. Oh and great video again guys.. your one of the only gaming channel I watch on here 🤓😱
It's been many years, even before I became Vtuber, yet this man still doing dying light content. Legend
The airdrop mission was extremely game changing for me. It was so crazy that ever since I’ve been heading to camps around 18:00. Don’t even want to risk it.
Awesome guys I’m actually playing through dying light atm so this is perfect👌
The one blocked tunnel always gave me goosebumps even though it wasn’t that hard but there was just something about it
the thing about this game i love most is the music and the ambient sounds everywhere
3:20 I think it needs to be mentioned that (if I’m not mistaken) this one in particular was saying things like “it burns” which made it even creepier
