I own the Bravo XL, and I can tell you why it smokes. Any time you cook anything that spatters, the spattered oil will hit the heating elements on top, and voila: smoke! Pretty simple and straight forward concept. To avoid the smoke, any time you cook something that spatters, cover it with an aluminum foil tent. The tent should run laterally, so air can still pass over the food. Do this, and no more smoke!
@@iwinrar5207 , that’s what I do. Or just avoid cooking food that spatters. If I need to broil something that will spatter, I use my big wall oven. It has a self cleaning feature that will take care of spatter that hits hard to clean areas.
@@twincams350 So, you are saying this Bravo didn't work for you? You had to resort to an "aluminum foil tent" and then changed to a "big wall oven.". What's the point?
This oven cooks bacon wonderfully. I use it every morning. Line the baking pan with foil, lay the bacon on the foil, place pan in oven, turn the oven on, (no need to preheat) turn the temp to 390 and set time for 20 min +\- depending on # of slices and bacon thickness. No smoke! Just adjust the time according to personal preference.
Is it crispy on this setting? I'll try it one more time using your suggestions but I bet I'll go back to my skillet when it sets off my smoke detectors....bahahahaha!
I cooked bacon fine in this oven. You just can't let the oil spill. Use a deeper pan and it will turn out fine. I lined my pan with foil and baked it at 400 for 15 minutes, then flipped it and baked an additional 3 minutes. Came out perfect.
Thank you so much for posting! My issue with any appliance these days is that they have to beep excessively every time you touch anything. I really don't need to hear an annoying beep to alert me! I am still aware of my surroundings. Anyway, you can turn the beep off by pressing the Sear and Stage buttons at the same time! YIPEE!
I cook Bacon all the time in my Bravo XL. I set temp at 385, I use a pan to put the bacon in and set time for 16 minutes. Once preheat is finished, with the bacon already in the overn on a middle reack, I start it. Bacon comes out crispy and no smoke at all.
It took a week but I finally figured out how to bake at 300deg for 2hrs 10 minutes. Step 1 - Press On/Off button. Turn knob back and forth. Unplug Bravo XL from wall. Throw it in the garbage. Step 2 - Place food in kitchen oven, turn it on, set temp and time. Wait for bell to 'Ding'. Done
I make candied bacon in the air fryer, I do it on 400 10 mins, then check it to see if it needs a little long. I have a different model but just ordered this one since it was bigger
I'm confused about the pre- setting for top and bottom. How does that work and what's the default? SEAR should brown it but how do you use that feature? What about leaving door open when broiling like regular big oven to avoid smoking?
5 it seems ok to bake in as my seasonal live in camper oven can't even fit a meatloaf pan, but my regular instant pot air fryer at home blows it away. The best part of it is last year they put in a 8 quart nuwave pressure cooker for 30.00 delivered with the oven, I love it more than the oven.
Be careful about the nuwave warranties. I have purchased one on my platinum surface cooker for the extended three year. It went bad after two years and I have been trying to get it warrantied. Now they say that it is out of manufacturing and they will not honor the warranty. No offer for money back or replacement. Just tough out of luck. So do not purchase warranties from them and expect them to honor it. Also products usually go bad after year or two, so expect that you paying for usage for the product for a year or two.
The smoke is probably from the fat that drips off getting close to the flash point....Just a thought..I have no solution to this except maybe to cok it at a lower temp for longer....
Great video, thank you! I totally use my nuwave elite to cook bacon but the main cooking top isn’t functioning. I thought about this one but it won’t work for my bacon family lol. Too bad because the rest of it seems amazing. Maybe the smoke came from the bacon grease hitting the heating coils or mechanism. Bummer. Thanks again!
Thanks Jeremy. I think you've done videos on the Ninja Foodi. I'm curious if you've tried the Dehydrate function on it, and how this recipe might do in the Foodi. I have a Foodi, but I have never tried the Dehydrate function on it. Thanks for the video....
I am so frustrated! I can't find a tutorial on how to cook chicken breasts in the NuWave Bravo oven with clear step-by-step instructions! The recipe on their website isn't clear and there isn't a recipe on the manual or on YT. Arrg!.

Would you consider making another more in depth video? Thanks.
What does Power Airfryer Oven, Quisinart Air Fryer Oven, Ninja Foodi Air Fry Oven and Nuwave Bravo XL have in common? They all do the same thing and most likely come out the same factory in China. Like Microwaves, "air fryer ovens" have now become generic. No innovation, nothing that makes you go wow!
So many people trying to change the way we cook things but there's some things you shouldn't put in an oven....it doesn't cook right. I will continue to cook my bacon perfectly in my skillet! Plus I don't put sugar on my bacon! if I want candy I go to the candy store. Yuck!
Bacon smokes the entire house no matter how you cook it. You gotta balance the outcome. Bacon or No-Bacon... I think we can all live with a little bacon smell all over the house once in a while.
I don't see how that temperature probe can be used while it is cooking with the door closed (one would not be able to close the door with the probe cord in the way). I suspect that temperature probe is just used to see if the food is cooked After you open the door and pull the food out some to temporarily stick in the probe. Else the probe connection would be located "inside" the oven. I think it would be handier to just use a battery powered temperature probe. I am sure Most people would think the probe is used while cooking but I think it was just a misleading marketing gimmick.

I can't figure out setting the time on this thing, meaning the time for the food to cook..... The directions are not clear!!!!!! Help!
As soon as he said "cook for an hour and 15 mins" I said ohhhh nooo 🤣🤣🤣
Rule of thumb for me is " NO OVENS period for cooking bacon or microwaves as well.." frying pan only!
Midi Fun - agree totally & cast iron is best for me.. but I can cook it up in any kind of pan! Yum! Bacon!!
I had the original NuWave oven and it cooked Bacon AWESOME !
Bacon in the exclusively in the oven for me. Perfect consistent doneness everytime! 👌
Thank you watching this cured my problem. The booklets that came with this oven dose not have instruction on how to operate the oven.,
I cook bacon in the microwave oven about one minute for each slice it comes out really delicious

I hope you can help. The broiler and grill functions have top and bottom heating. When I turn bottom off the temp is only 100 degrees?
You actually BURNED the BACON...
He should have done the syrup only the last 20 minutes.
Or cooked at 250 for 30, then 10 minutes with syrup.
Is the heating element on the bottom, where the grease can drip onto it?
