I'm impressed with how you set up a relatively inexpensive but very secure padlock. My feeling about the Interactive locks is that they are good enough for many applications, but there are a lot of people that can pick them reliably. There's probably an optimum balance of lock strength and pick resistance - I don't know what it is, but this seems like a good setup.
There's always the problem of awakening illicit interest by having a serious lock on something. Could make a villain think there was some item of value behind that lock. You need a balance.
I replaced my builders’ deadbolts with Mul-T-Lock deadbolts and cylinders for my doors. It gives me tremendous peace of mind that my favorite lock picker, Is using these cylinders on locks he uses. I can sleep care free now…. LOVE your videos, always interesting… I have never picked or plan to pick a lock, but you make your videos very interesting.
How cool! Its always fun to come up with your own interesting combination of lock when choosing something for personal use. I have a few cool combos myself that one typically would not think would go together....
I did this to one of mine a while back with a Jr., then recently I put a interactive in it. The only problem other than the cam, is you have to leave the security nut a little loose so it doesn't bind up the core.
If you take a schlage Primus KIK and put spools and serrated pins in it, then put it into a solid steel Stanley padlock (preferably the 60mm lock) now you have a good lock

Ha, I did the same thing a while ago, but with MTL Jr KIKs. I have this lock, and the solid-bodied 24/7. I pinned two MTL Jr KIKs alike and put them in these Stanleys. I use the solid version on my storage unit. Not sure about the economics: this was about $54 . . . I can get an Abus 20/70 for $8 less, or an MTL TSR with a Jr core for $5 more. An interactive core with keys is probably at least $30 more (both KIK or in a real MTL padlock). Fun, though.
Could be the luck of the draw, but its the first time I've seen this core and I have no idea what the "interactive" part is. Also, thanks for the tip on the Stanley lock. I would have liked to have seen what kind of rear end it takes, though. I know this is all stuff I could look up, but still.
The price seems to go up on things algorithmically depending on their popularity. You can still get the non-shrouded ones for about $15. They do have the CD8820, which is a non-laminated version thats cheaper (for some reason) but appears to have all the same re-keying features and the same decent standard core. I don't really make videos myself, just trying to help in whatever limited way I can. Let me know if its actually not helping or being counter-productive.
Can you do a pick after you re-key this lock to see if you have improved its pick resistance? We know how long the original bitting/pinning took to pick from this video.
8 mins for average expert yes, not the average LPL though! With stuff like..."nothing on 1, 2 is binding, nothing on 3, counter-rotation on 4, click on 5, click on 6, back to 1, some counter-rotation with a click, click on 2, 3 is binding...its open!" this guy is a pro ace!👍🏆

Well, you inspired me to try this, and I feel like maybe I hit a snag. I had a spare junior core, but it’s activator nubbin (?) is clocked differently than the Schlage core, can’t seem to get the back hollow wafer piece to line up. Any tips?
speaking of multilock, my building key says do not duplicate, they charge 50$ per key and have to go through the co op. found a guy that copys the key for 25$ and you dont need the card. can you do a explanation video about multilock do not duplicate and that subject matter

All the good professional brands offer this, usually with a scheme to only provide blank keys to locksmiths that are sworn and legally bound to never make keys without proper authorization. In apartment buildings this is meant to check that all keys to common areas are returned when moving out, and that the "all areas" keys are returned when janitors leave. Problem is that the inability of rogue factories to supply blanks to unofficial cutting services relies on taking out limited duration patents, and once those expire, the market is flooded with blanks and the only recourse for the customer is to change all their locks to a shape with a new patent.
Brian Grant It's a direct drop in replacement, you take the actuator off the core that's in there if you need to. The stanley is schlage Sc4, very easy swap.
How are you gonna fit this cylinder into that padlock? It has, what it seems to, a non-spinnable anti-drill-plate that is made for a vertical keyway, and the Mul-T-lock has a horizontal keyway, making it impossible to insert the key once you have installed the Mul-T-lock into it.

Yeah it would not be a very good idea to show the key pins because I’m not one of them but I’ll bet you got a lot of people that could look at them and say OK we can make that and then look up your address Realistically it’s probably one and 100,000 people but why risk it ?

If you're looking on Amazon, just look for "CD8823". Its about $25 on prime. You can find it cheaper, but the shipping undoes most of that.

In pin-in-pin locks is it possible for the inner pins to be serrated or spooled? Or are they too thin and delicate as it is?

I tought it was non-rotatable since it had that X-shaped hole, which allows for 10 degree key rotation even if it wouldn't be spinnable.

Smeado Look into Abus 83 series locks with the KW1 keyway
+Smeado A Master Lock No. 18, or aKwikset smartkey Padlock might be worth looking at if you are not comfortable rekeying.
