I would've been psyched for something like that. Though since I stopped doing audit work a couple years back I haven't used a portable monitor once, so yea pretty specific.
Investment bank / funds Traders use Bloomberg or Retuers with 2 to 4 monitors. However, these days they switch to ultrawide screen. I connect my gaming laptop to the 27 inch QHD monitor with laptop screen off. One good monitor is good enough.
The tree monitor attachment for latops is great for people who travel for work then at the end of the day in the hotel have to do the office work. Also I use mine because I work at the shared office space, I dont get the same desk everyday and they do not provide monitors. Its definitely a niche product, and thus the price.
The Geekom is intriguing one could mount it via the Vesa plate with some hobbling to the Vesa mount of a monitor (Geekom make note) and turn it into a small footprint all-in-one, it would suit my needs, but an older relative that only wants to surf web and maybe run a few office applications it could be enough.
@@DarrellLarose I actually did just buy a mini pc for an older relative. I went with the AEROFARA Aero 2 Pro. Partly because it had a vga output and her old monitor required it, partly because it was 15% off on amazon and was the only decent option for under $200.
Finally some one is reviewing those clip on displays. I remember when LTT saw these at some conference and people were excited, but no one ever seemed to do a review when they came out. I've been waiting like a decade for a review of one of these. I guess everyone was thinking it was a stupid thing to review after the hype died down and it finally came out. Addendum: I didn't know LTT did a review of the things. Guess I'll have to go check it out.
I can think of a couple of niche use cases for that triple laptop display. There are some instances where people need a semi-portable multi-monitor setup. One example I can think of is a construction project manager where you work out of a temporary office that needs to be moved every few weeks/months or so. The more portable your setup is, the better.
You should test the Ethernet speeds on the hub. I had a USB hub with a one gig port that throttled my Ethernet hard. Tech support told me no hub in that price point would do better lol.
Did you get an USB 2.0 hub or something? Cause there's no way i'm believing you that someone told you/ or you had 3.0 5 gigabit hubs that cant even hit 1 gigabit ethernet speeds!
@@CarbonPanther I'm guessing it was a USB 2.0. By the way they said tech support told them "at that price point" makes me think it was a cheaper 2.0 model as opposed to a 3.0 model.
I mean, this is a good way to pivot to a comedy channel. Edit: also, it's really funny how these brands basically take a cheap crap item and then upsell it because they ship them out to random youtubers. That personal AC thing is the 2nd one I've seen that's been way overpriced. They're usually like $50
I was thinking that it looks like they're trying to sneak in a few sales to uneducated consumers at the sky high price... A fan in a holder does not warrant a $200 price tag.
Hey Dawid I see you have been quite active in reding comments, so I just wanted to tell you that your content is some of my favourite on the platform. When I started getting into PC's a few months ago, you came into my recommended and I have watched every one of your videos since. I love your style, your content is always fresh and entertaining. Your sense of humour makes it all a very light, enjoyable watch, even when the video may be up to 25 minutes long. Please keep doing what your doing, wish you much success and growth in the future!
Those Deep cool AIO blocks in the sponsor segment look beautiful... We have several Doogee phones for sale in Venezuela, but they are of a regular, less rugged, build. They are s choice for people needing a smartphone but don't have a budget for a name brand
I really like these random review videos, you make them so much fun to watch. It's also interesting seeing you review a Doogie product; we've had an older Doogie phone for a couple of years which my partner and I use mounted to a jet ski handlebar to function as a maritime navigation display for when we go on longer trips. The waterproofing and near-indestructibility is very useful for our needs but we don't need it for anything more than that. I seriously wish ours had a night vision camera, though!
I do own that hub. Sure the SSD isnt Filly saturated, but its faster than a normal USB Stick. Also I Like the Compact package. You do get more Speed with a good Thundervolt nvme enclosure, but I dont need that much Speed, and I Like the two in one approach. You are likely to carry a USB Hub already with you. It is fast enough to Play on it.^^ but If you really need the max Speed, a nvme enclosure and another Hub is the way to Go for you.
13:40 it's more than just a USB hub though, it's so you can get your laptop the necesity for work when you get back to to your desk. like a Hub, ethernet, mouse, keyboard, (or a single Logitech unify receiver for both) and external storage in one. Makes sense to me.
docks are for that. you just plug the laptop into the dock and don't worry about cables and stuff. or even better, have a desktop pc at home and sync your documents via the cloud automatically and just put the laptop into the closet when you get home. I guess you can call it " a poor man's dock". Maybe it is ok for the Steam deck or something like that that has no proper dock... but surely not practical for "work".
To be honest... It's tech-stuff and there are some quite interesting products in this video... You don't have to do everything of course but it's still very interesting as a tech-nerd... We haven't seen these products anywhere and sometimes it can be handy and nice to know that these things exist. Thanks for this! It's informative and humorous.
Oh man, this exists in the guitar gear space as well. I’m really glad you made this video, because it’s something I try to explain to people, but unless you e read these emails… you can’t really appreciate how odd they are.
I think the triple-monitor can be very useful for certain people. Like if you travel and then work from a hotel - you just quickly lay the setup down and work from there for a couple of weeks. The extra displays are very handy in certain lines of work, like finance where you display a lot of things at once. It'd be a much better product if these were just portable monitors though.
This was a really nice video, Dawid! Maybe you should consider doing a random product review video like this one at least once a month or even more, depending on the amount of "random crap" you receive. It's always cool to learn about new stuff out there that you have no idea even exists! 👍👍
Damn I think I'm gonna buy that mini PC! Me and my wife wanted a mini PC to keep in our camper trailer and that thing seems not too bad for the price. Awesome video as usual Dawid
for the usb hub, i think its more of a home docking station than a hub. it has card readers, ethernet, usb, and an ssd in it, which i think kind of makes up for it.
I love the concept of the triple monitor setup, as a developer, there are many times where I have my IDE on one, internet for documentation and other things, and slack/other smaller things, I.e terminal. In addition I used to work a lot of the train as part of my commute and that would have been a really helpful product.
You missed the most important part of reviewing the Doogie phone. Which is how many times can you drop it before it stops working. Since its a rugged phone. I bought a new phone like 4 years ago dropped it once form 2 feet and the screen slowly turned purple. I'm currently using my brothers old Samsung 8 and i've dropped it more time i can count. And its been dropped down a full flight of stairs multiple times. It still works. No issues at all with it. I feel the older phones are built tough. And the new phones are built to break right away.
23:15 - when the finger print scanner works and the music starts up again... I had a chuckle. The commentary in your videos is very entertaining and useful, thanks Dawid!
There's use cases for the multi-monitor rig. I saw JayzTwoCents reviewing a couple of these and he had a good reason for it. It's easier to transport than two or three monitors for an on-the-road streaming and editing setup. Unless you're doing that sort of thing, though, I just don't see it either.
given the appalling colour reproduction of the monitors, it's quite fitting that the only on-the-go editors who'd buy this junk are those who clearly don't give a shit about their work to begin with.
@@rossclutterbuck1060 that's why you would do your color grading etc on your main monitor. In an editing sense you could use these for toolbars, timelines, layers, audio mix etc. Any way these are copies, the originals are on Jayz channel and are much better quality
Loved this segment. You presented it really well. Short reviews, seeing some of this stuff being used briefly can be very effective. I hope you continue to do this.
What a brilliant idea for a series of videos... "Eagerly opening/discussing all the product review beggars items that noone else will even admit to having", and what-have-you. I love it! GGs Dawid.
I really loved that the mini-PC _came_ with the VESA mount, a super nice touch. Could see that being a great grand/parents computer, just attach it to the back of the monitor, stick a wireless dongle for shared keyboard/mouse, and they'll have a nice clean setup. Could even use a wireless dongle, the speeds would be more than fine for light web browsing, emails, and the occasional word document.
I think my favorite one of these was the phone, and not having to clean dirt out of the charging port. (I do a lot of work in the dirt.) And the other one would be the mini PC, it would be a nice server that doesn't use much power. The only downside is it is not a laptop, so if the power goes out, it will shut off right away without being able to save the server and shut it down.
The clean USB port is really nice, same for the cover over the AUX port. That is definitely a downside of the mini PC, but it wouldn’t necessarily need a very big UPS to keep it running.
@@cowmath77 I just think there are other phones for the price that are better in terms of standard phoneness. Although, I do still think it’s a cool device.
@@cowmath77 I agree that he compared it to a non tough phone. However, I don't agree with "out of date" as some of those (mainly the Samsung phones) will still get a couple more years of software support, while with something like a doogee phone, you likely won't even get one update.
Dawid you went from best to worst for items reviewed in terms of expectation, love the videos and don’t get Elmer from the many Dell systems hiding within your office 😊
Pretty impressed by the mini PC. It would be perfect for a workshop/shed setting where someone wants to use it for a little interwebs, some media and UA-cam playing. Nice The best thing about pretty much everything else would be to see Dawid fire it all up at a Starbucks and do some editing on the crap triple screen setup while wearing the neck cooler and glasses. The phone sounds half legit according to the comments too
Anytime a fingerprint sensor works too good, please check with other fingers. The decision if it accepts a fingerprint maybe depends on when, when was the last valid fingerprint it saw, how long ago was it unlocked, detection of been hold in hand, etc.
This is the start to a good series. Once a month or so does sound good I think. Considering there are many small companies wanting channels to review odd tech products.
The portable monitor setup works really well with semi-permanent setups, such as hot desking, digital nomad, cafe, etc. You would be moving quite often, but when you start work, you'd be sitting down for hours to do work there. Very useful if you have many things to reference from if you're building a codebase, presentations, etc.
Well, nope :D Even in lamest companies they do have spare monitors for someone coming to work with his laptop for couple of days/hours. In a cafe - good luck with that :) Whole idea is kinda stupid.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff Well, I was referring to portable monitors in general, since it seems you didn’t see the need of portable monitors in the video. But yea, paying $650 for 2 sub-standard monitors that can’t be plugged in with just one cable is a bad deal.
Of course, keep in mind Dawid, that if you max out the ports on the hub, you will reach a case where each port will not be able to draw 5V needed for correct USB port operation. I think that this type of hub may work with the small micro PC you were testing... use the M2 memory card for more external storage ...and maybe a card reader ports, etc... Seems kind of pricey for its cost.
That monitor thing sounds interesting, I can see uses for the right kind of person. If you really need that much screen space on your laptop, but don't want to carry around full monitors.
I love the 3-screen idea as a programmer. I have 4 screens on my desktop, and when I go on vacation I plan to extend my vacation by working a few days from the apartment we're going to rent, and having 3-screens is a life saver, because I haven't ever coded on less than 3 screens for years now. Code on the middle, browser testing on the right, database or anything else on the left. Means I can bring my laptop for just personal stuff and netflix and when I decide to work remotely I just plug the screens in. But I agree that it's a gimmick, or a very niche use case, because most people don't need it. And it takes quite a lot of room to take with you on a plane, so it might be annoying to take on a remote job where you have to fly too.
The MiniAir gets my vote for sure. I have an MSI Cubi with a Celeron N5000 as my torrent box and it's great as it sips power. I'm looking at getting something similar for my sister for Christmas as she wants a basic PC but doesn't want something huge. These little cubes are great for that use case.
I liked the monitors actually, I do like having idea of portable 3 display setup. Until I heard the price. Yeah, for half that price you can buy 2 monitors that can be used both normally and as portable, for example ViewSonic VG1655 is $150-$200 per one. It can also be used vertically, because it is not stuck to laptop like those. So yeah, if they were cheaper, they could be great product, but for price like that, you can buy 2 portable monitors from actual reputable brands and still have some money left.
The USB Hub with the built in NVMe slot is a neat concept. I've got a couple NVMe enclosures, having a hub to go with it could be neat. But I feel like it would work best as a Thunderbolt hub rather than working off of USB alone, because splitting 10Gbps over multiple ports with storage isn't the nicest idea I could think of.
I think the USB hub with an M.2 slot could be useful for data recovery. Your MB had dies and you need a file from your M.2 drive, plug the hub into a laptop and get that file.
I work in the entertainment industry and I can immediately think of an amazing use for the FOPO... ETC Nomad. The ETC Nomad is software with a USB key and USB-DMX interface that allows you to use EOS lighting control software on your computer. Most people that use Nomad use it on a laptop... and... multiple screens is a literal must for this. Now, true, this is a situation where a couple $90 HP lcd's works great, BUT... This kind of layout with your cue list, magic sheet, ML controls, digital faders and more all available at once is great, and the only thing that would make it better... is if they were touch screens.
Really good content, thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Agree the little mini-pc seems the most practical and 'finished' product here, but the Doogee phone looked surprisingly good
I may have one of the few legit use cases for the FOPO. I use some other random Chinese brand but same concept. I live in a campervan full time. It sucks doing stuff on a single small laptop screen, but there isn't enough space in the van to mount actual monitors without them getting in the way, sucking a ton of power, and bouncing around while going down the road. Now I can just plop these on and multitask without taking up much space. Also when gaming on the main screen I like having a twitch stream or youtube video or google page up on the side screen in peripheral.
I guess that is a good use right there. Although for the price Id rather an external monitor or two with a battery. I think that would come in cheaper than that $650 thing.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff it's been fine so far, although I baby it as if it were the Mona Lisa out of her protective glass because it feels pretty fragile. Anytime I travel it gets packed away in multiple layers of blankets and foam.
15:00 wow that thing is genius tho! your body controls the temperature through the earlopes, so making them cool will cool your body. so its not half bad
I think the implementation of DIY Perks' second laptop screen was a really good one. Nice small bezels and makes the top screen in line with your eyes.
Doogee owner here. Have been using the S88 plus for nearly a year and it's a Tank. It's gone down ladders, gone swimming, dropped more times than I can count and keeps going. That said if you're going to use one, get a different launcher from the app store. I use Lean, but the Microsoft launcher works well in my experience as well. Also wireless charging + reverse wireless charging is way more handy than you'd think.
That video idea is an excellent way to make a "junk reviews" filter and ending up with some nice products at some point. at the same time, you help peoples to not get screwed around by some bad offers that look nice.
We use mini PC’s like this at my work. They get installed into AV Racks on Yachts to have remote access to the ships network for troubleshooting/ updating things like URC and other network configs.
This one was awesome. You should split this up into different categories. From the weird and wonderful to terrible. Give this type of video its own category please Dawid!
Dawid, I wish you had more fun in your videos 😂 I absolutely loved this one! Great stuff as usual EDIT: Holy crap, just hit the FOPO rant and I'm dying! I also 100% agree
With that extra monitor thing I'd be super worried about the extra weight on the hinge, even if it was set up at home. I feel like it's probably going to destroy the laptop's graphic connection cable and ruin the screen eventually
holy f this video was great! you should do at least a monthly review series! might find a couple of tech gems now and there and still get good content out of it
Honestly, I am beyond satisfied with this video, not just trash talk but how absurd some of these products are. and many of them are able to get funded by random people.
We live on the road in our RV. I work a 9-5 corporate job from our rig. I have multiple monitors setup in my "office" area; however, as we are in amazing areas all the time, I enjoy working outside. I have the FOPO and I absolutely love it! It allows me to work outside with incredible views, while not sacrificing my productivity with a single laptop screen.......... Vitamin D is great! Additionally, when I'm at the office, it serves to provide an excellent way to present to colleagues, in informal settings, in mirror mode.
Totally agree with you about the laptop multi screen. Once you sacrifice the portability, you might as well plug your laptop into a couple cheap monitors from a thrift store and you’ve recreated this product for about twenty bucks.

@@NicksStuff isnt that essentially what it is?
The Geekom is intriguing one could mount it via the Vesa plate with some hobbling to the Vesa mount of a monitor (Geekom make note) and turn it into a small footprint all-in-one, it would suit my needs, but an older relative that only wants to surf web and maybe run a few office applications it could be enough.
@@DarrellLarose I actually did just buy a mini pc for an older relative. I went with the AEROFARA Aero 2 Pro. Partly because it had a vga output and her old monitor required it, partly because it was 15% off on amazon and was the only decent option for under $200.
Those mini PCs are actually decent. I have a 200 dollar box I use as a low power local file server/home theater PC.
So you mean by the time you get to 466k you nearly need a dreadnought-class email filter?
You can have a Yorktown-Class if you want
@@literallyhuman5990 is that an up/down/ or sidegrade to a Yorkie-class woofer? 🤔
@@Lyander25 Yes. Just like what you want to do with those peasants money
@@literallyhuman5990 huh. Lost me a bit there, concede being moderately confused.

That’s a good point. Will definitely test it. 😃
@@CarbonPanther so they removed the USB 3.0 stuff from their listing, but it was listed as USB 3.0 hub.

I love videos about random Chinese junk and seeing you do one of these was my favorite in a while. DO MORE OF THESE!
Have you heard of our lord and saviour, Ashens?
I mean, this is a good way to pivot to a comedy channel.
Edit: also, it's really funny how these brands basically take a cheap crap item and then upsell it because they ship them out to random youtubers. That personal AC thing is the 2nd one I've seen that's been way overpriced. They're usually like $50
I was thinking that it looks like they're trying to sneak in a few sales to uneducated consumers at the sky high price... A fan in a holder does not warrant a $200 price tag.
I know right! They just throw some extra branding on it, then charge double the going rate. 😂
@@DawidDoesTechStuff so, the Apple business model?
That mini PC isn't all that bad, though.
Great timing. I was **THIS** close to buying that USB hub with the SSD slot. Thanks for making sure I didn't waste my money.
I'm speculating that the USB 3 ports are only around 5 gigabit/s, and the NVMe M.2 slot can't saturate 10 gigabit/s.
They are on ebay for like 25 bucks. They are all the same, these just have some branding on them.
@@MaxMichel89arent you suppose to also provide power to the dock so it can use its full speed? I mentioned dock instead of hub for that reason btw.
@@Oink_Blaster maybe it would Help
13:40 it's more than just a USB hub though, it's so you can get your laptop the necesity for work when you get back to to your desk. like a Hub, ethernet, mouse, keyboard, (or a single Logitech unify receiver for both) and external storage in one. Makes sense to me.
If I need Ethernet I buy a laptop with Ethernet. If a laptop has only 2 USB ports it's either from 2001 or a very bad product.
docks are for that. you just plug the laptop into the dock and don't worry about cables and stuff. or even better, have a desktop pc at home and sync your documents via the cloud automatically and just put the laptop into the closet when you get home.
That mini PC blew me away
Oh man, this exists in the guitar gear space as well. I’m really glad you made this video, because it’s something I try to explain to people, but unless you e read these emails… you can’t really appreciate how odd they are.
I think the triple-monitor can be very useful for certain people. Like if you travel and then work from a hotel - you just quickly lay the setup down and work from there for a couple of weeks. The extra displays are very handy in certain lines of work, like finance where you display a lot of things at once. It'd be a much better product if these were just portable monitors though.
Please do more of this. The wacky random items are fun to see and you're good at pointing out their flaws in a funny way.
I think I can speak for everyone here, that we want a second and third episode of this, for sure.
Only thing Is, it has less ram
There are many many options for mini PCs out there. :D
you could buy a whole real pc for that price
@@Baka_Oppai it is a whole "real pc" - that's kinda the point of it.
for the usb hub, i think its more of a home docking station than a hub. it has card readers, ethernet, usb, and an ssd in it, which i think kind of makes up for it.
5:50 the “Termibrator” with erogenous adapters for all bedroom occasions lol 😂
Good luck editing with a delta E of 60000, and a DCI-P3 coverage of 2% 😂
@@limecheesecake1832 The one in the video, sure, it's shit. But if someone makes a decent one, it can be used for editing.
@@kadrix732 true, or you could just buy two actually decent portable monitors for a lot less
(I do a lot of work in the dirt.)
And the other one would be the mini PC, it would be a nice server that doesn't use much power. The only downside is it is not a laptop, so if the power goes out, it will shut off right away without being able to save the server and shut it down.
been a standard otterbox feature the entire product lifecycle . adding more ips resistance than the phone/ devices even came with .
For a server you can always run it on a USP.
But I would want a better way for more storage.
Doogee phone was literally the worst phone I ever owned... Absolutely horrible and no updates at all after it launched , god it was awful.
Dawid you went from best to worst for items reviewed in terms of expectation, love the videos and don’t get Elmer from the many Dell systems hiding within your office 😊
Haha!! I’ll try my best to keep it at bay.
So glad to have you back from the UK, and back at the tech stuff!
22:40 Well I just about coughed up a quarter of a lung laughing at the Doogie phone showing you up once the cameras started rolling.
Pretty impressed by the mini PC. It would be perfect for a workshop/shed setting where someone wants to use it for a little interwebs, some media and UA-cam playing. Nice
The best thing about pretty much everything else would be to see Dawid fire it all up at a Starbucks and do some editing on the crap triple screen setup while wearing the neck cooler and glasses.
The phone sounds half legit according to the comments too
Really hope this can become a monthly or bi monthly series or something, I absolutely love oddball tech.
careful it might turn your cat into a demon that will scare you to death
“Hopefully, it isn’t a carcinogen.”
California has some bad news for you.
Very entertaining series as always a joy to watch your comic humor/ sarcasm lol
Anytime a fingerprint sensor works too good, please check with other fingers. The decision if it accepts a fingerprint maybe depends on when, when was the last valid fingerprint it saw, how long ago was it unlocked, detection of been hold in hand, etc.
David, we're gonna need you to start production on episode 2 ASAP because that episode was a thing of beauty.
But for $650? Isn’t a “standard” portable a more practical and less expensive option?
Can you get a single screen portable monitor with a more stable stand? Then if you want a 3 screen set-up, buy two of them?
LoL cafe. Imagine seeing some dude setting up his triple monitor laptop in a cafe haha 🤣
If you really need that much screen space on your laptop, but don't want to carry around full monitors.
well there are portable monitors, which are better than this
You REJECT this stuff?
This really is one of the most entertaining tech channels on UA-cam.
Watching this after episode 2. You definitely need to make this a reoccurring series.
And it takes quite a lot of room to take with you on a plane, so it might be annoying to take on a remote job where you have to fly too.
admit it you want the phone to turn your cat into a demon cat🤣🤣🤣
At $100? Go get an actual m.2 enclosure for $20 for the rare few times you'd ever use it.
@@ScrewUA-camAndYourAutoNames at least you'd KNOW that an option like this exists at all. like i hadn't know you can read HDDs externally thru USB
Agree the little mini-pc seems the most practical and 'finished' product here, but the Doogee phone looked surprisingly good
You should turn this into a quarterly segment! Requirement for Anna to be the one who chooses the random crap for you)
Best video in a long time. A crazy but fun mish mash of product reviews in tandem that actually makes sense. Looking forward to next ep.
That does make a lot of sense! How is yours holding up?
@@DawidDoesTechStuff it's been fine so far, although I baby it as if it were the Mona Lisa out of her protective glass because it feels pretty fragile. Anytime I travel it gets packed away in multiple layers of blankets and foam.

Hello there!

15:00 wow that thing is genius tho! your body controls the temperature through the earlopes, so making them cool will cool your body. so its not half bad
The best way to stop most review requests.. Honestly review the products.
I think the implementation of DIY Perks' second laptop screen was a really good one. Nice small bezels and makes the top screen in line with your eyes.
What a quote to have on your amazon page. "It doesn't feel as consensual as it should"
I got an offer once where they didn't even bother to remove the "channel name here."
There is actually some pretty cool things in between. You should do this more often. Crappy stuff fits the GT710 vibe of this channel.
Ive been wanting that acasis hub for a while. Thanks for the honest review! All those other shmucks are getting payed for their words
13:50 It would be really funny if you just bought a bunch of usb hubs and connected them together to see how high you could get your input latency 🤣
The usb hub at the start does actually make sense for people testing out different m.2s on a daily basis like tech repair shops
Dawid, I wish you had more fun in your videos 😂 I absolutely loved this one! Great stuff as usual
EDIT: Holy crap, just hit the FOPO rant and I'm dying! I also 100% agree
With that extra monitor thing I'd be super worried about the extra weight on the hinge, even if it was set up at home. I feel like it's probably going to destroy the laptop's graphic connection cable and ruin the screen eventually
Then stop buying hp and dell laptops lol
holy f this video was great! you should do at least a monthly review series! might find a couple of tech gems now and there and still get good content out of it
Honestly, I am beyond satisfied with this video, not just trash talk but how absurd some of these products are. and many of them are able to get funded by random people.

This was a great video and I would love to see more. I look at items like these and this review helps a ton!!
Totally agree with you about the laptop multi screen. Once you sacrifice the portability, you might as well plug your laptop into a couple cheap monitors from a thrift store and you’ve recreated this product for about twenty bucks.
That mini pc performed much better than I expected, but that's mostly cuz I had absolutely no expectations about it
This is actually a pretty interesting email-spam product review segment, so you spam their products all into 1 video every month , waiting for a 2nd episode for sure
