I took away a little more than that. He also limits distractions. Imagine how many things distract us in our modern day. That is where you sir are so incredibly wrong. Maybe some normal or slightley above average types. Not this man. Rick Rubin is beyond all of that. He's (in many ways) greatness X10. You keep on going with that Ignorant attitude of yours and see what goals you achieve. @@gvngbvngiggy
This interview was incredibly amazing. I laughed out with a shilling of delight.. I have, likewise, connected with music while releasing stress through meditation. Wonderful feeling 🪻👋🏼
Modern music: presented by people with little-to-no musical skills, produced by people like Rubin who also is proud NOT to be a musician or knows his way around the studio, rated by music critics who also aren't musicians ( or frustrated ones) who make a product to sell to non-musicians, signed by labels who's only concern is money and catering to the monopolized radio. Gee, I cant imagine why modern music sucks so bad......Hits are made by people throwing a lot of money behind and independent promotion to radio and the media, not musical quality. It's business not art. Sometimes a real artist slips in, but it's pretty rare.
I am not a musician myself, but I do agree that there is a lot of music that is not so great that is promoted by music giants to generate income. Unfortunately, this is how the modern music business operates, but luckily, we still have great artists that we can also listen to.
If you think modern music sucks you need to go and listen to more modern music, it’s the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard, plenty of amazing musicians and plenty of amazing music, yes the mainstream stuff might be shit but that’s only a small percentage of todays music, need to go discover some more.
The validity of your statement depends on good musicians automatically being good artists, but we know that that is not necessarily the case. There is a big difference between art and craft. Take Michael Angelo Batio, for example, whose art is aesthetically embarrassing despite the impeccable musicianship that it requires. That being said, to say the music industry lacks any artistic direction whatsoever is a tad misguided. However, I do agree with you in that artistic value has depreciated by way of less relevant influences on the music industry - take class and physical appearance for instance
Rick Rubin has impeccable taste a lot of art is just that, being able to see things others can't. Great video
Totally agree. He is a legend. And thanks 😊
@@sergeypoltorakov That was Andy Warhol's thing, he had more taste than anything else.... cheers!
Wish I could show him what I do.
posted at a bar in Oakland CA recently and read 2/3 of his book .. magical concepts I've lived with since
