Both of them are as Australian as they come, just like the 30% of other Australians that were also born overseas.
I normally recommend people start their journey of The Voice’s (Farnsy’s nickname here) catalogue with “You’re the Voice”, our unofficial pub anthem here, then move on to his rearrangement of “Help” by The Beatles (both songs best versions are Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in the same concert) but this is also a solid song to start with. That said, his catalogue really is huge, so even if you don’t do reactions to songs like “Age of Reason” or “When the War is Over” or “Reasons” etc. he is worth exploring further in your own time. A great reaction! There is an even better version (in my opinion) where they sing live on the TV show, Hey, Hey It's Saturday - when you think it cannot get any better, it does. One of the songs on my list of John Farnham performances, actually twice. Two live versions, slightly different, and both slightly better than the other. And Help you have already seen. -Burn For You.. ua-cam.com/video/4PPvOhPspEA/v-deo.html -Angels.. Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers. JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years. ua-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/v-deo.html -Amazing Grace.. To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa. This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field. ua-cam.com/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/v-deo.html -Please Don't Ask Me.. This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well.. Edit- JF has announced he is free of cancer, but has not mentioned anything about singing again. ua-cam.com/video/2uV_tZODfK8/v-deo.html -When Something Is Wrong With My Baby.... And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar. ua-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/v-deo.html Or this version, both are great, but slightly different.. ua-cam.com/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/v-deo.html -When The War Is Over… Possibly one of his greatest vocals. ua-cam.com/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/v-deo.html -Or is the greatest. Gethsemane.. ua-cam.com/video/k5woMZtClhI/v-deo.html -How about a mike test. He has the power and ability to distort microphones, blow up amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol Black Dog. ua-cam.com/video/F2Yi6TVi-sU/v-deo.html Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
You came across Jimmy a month or two back with his duet with INXS - “Good Times”. The man is an absolute legend! You have to check out his live version of Sam Cooke’s, “A Change Gonna Come”. It’s soul on steroids!!
Three Australian legends in unison... and one great reaction.😎 BTW, I hope that John Farnham is recovering!? (Anybody...?) All the very best from Germany
Hey Nick, I think your next move from here could and should be a bit of Cold Chisol. In saying that maybe try Bow River (in the round 2003) which also brings Ian Moss into your line if sight and then from there you need to try Ian Moss singing Georgia which is incredible and has it's own little story that makes it interesting :)
To hear another classic there is one of John’s concerts where Jimmy came on stage to sing when the war is over with John. I remember John had a long trench coat on And Jimmy had on a black leather jacket and white jeans. It was unexpected and really stirring. I have a picture in my album but no clue when or where. It is a cold chisel song but never sung better than when these 2 larrikins get up on stage. Enjoy.
Cold chisel drummer wrote the song, when they broke off, he went to LRB, John was singing there and he gave him the song. So cold chisel, Jimmy, and John all have rights to sing it.
@@ChrisFirth-do2sm the best versions I have heard is John in 2007 I think it was the last Farnham concert I attended. The first time it got to me was with that concert when Jimmy came on stage. I think it was 1987 or so.

Both men come from Britain and came over to Australia when young. Like Olivia, John ended up in Melbourne and Jimmy ended up in Adelaide. John was born a year after Liv in 1949 and they kind of started off together at the same studios in Melbourne. She followed his career from afar. About the time of her passing, he had to have major jaw surgery for oral cancer. He has survived it and apparently can sing around the house. He won't come out of retirement though because he is 75 now. Jimmy's son is a well known singer and breakfast TV host down here too. Also Jimmy singing anything is great but him singing “a change is gonna come” (cover) is epic
Also you have reacted to Jimmy before.. when he sang duet with INXS (goodtimes).
New sub here, a must see is the chapel recording of John doing Playing to win, its from 2011, shows that his amazing voice has only grown better with age, like a fine wine. keep up the good work
Really gotta see them live. And Diesel is the guitarist and does some harmonies. He's A pretty big star in Australia on his own. And Jimmy's brother in law. All magnificent
We're certainly blessed to be able to call these two phenomenonal men our own. It's funny though that at 65 I really didn't appreciate both more until I was in my 40s. I guess I grew up!
Tears to the eyes knowing they have both come through some challenging health issues and survived.
Saw Jimmy singing the other night. He was phenomenal, I last saw him in concert as an 18yr old and it was amazing and now I got to see him as a 50yr old and it was mind blowing that he basically sounded the same as when I saw him as an 18yr old. Anyone that can see him and his band Cold Chisel touring Australia and NZ it is worth every cent ❤
They are having so much fun 😊
Pretty damn good.
Oh i love that or Aussie legends are being found world wide. I love your reaction. Music royalty. 3 Legends.
What's even better, all 3 are getting hammered at the same time, it's not tea they are drinking, it's hard liquor, scotch, whiskey. Watch the glasses go up and down during the video. 🌧👋💕🇦🇺
You got that right!
Always do live performances of Jimmy and John.
One of the songs on my list of John Farnham performances, actually twice. Two live versions, slightly different, and both slightly better than the other.
And Help you have already seen.
-Burn For You..
ua-cam.com/video/4PPvOhPspEA/v-deo.html
-Angels..
Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers.
JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years.
ua-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/v-deo.html
-Amazing Grace..
To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa.
This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field.
ua-cam.com/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/v-deo.html
-Please Don't Ask Me..
This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well..
Edit- JF has announced he is free of cancer, but has not mentioned anything about singing again.
ua-cam.com/video/2uV_tZODfK8/v-deo.html
-When Something Is Wrong With My Baby....
And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar.
ua-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/v-deo.html
Or this version, both are great, but slightly different..
ua-cam.com/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/v-deo.html
-When The War Is Over…
Possibly one of his greatest vocals.
ua-cam.com/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/v-deo.html
-Or is the greatest.
Gethsemane..
ua-cam.com/video/k5woMZtClhI/v-deo.html
-How about a mike test.
He has the power and ability to distort microphones, blow up amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol
Black Dog.

Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.
You came across Jimmy a month or two back with his duet with INXS - “Good Times”. The man is an absolute legend! You have to check out his live version of Sam Cooke’s, “A Change Gonna Come”. It’s soul on steroids!!
Three Australian legends in unison... and one great reaction.😎
BTW, I hope that John Farnham is recovering!? (Anybody...?)
All the very best from Germany
John is recovering. I heard, singing in the shower. Our guy WILL return.❤❤❤❤
Live versions are great too
Hey Nick, I think your next move from here could and should be a bit of Cold Chisol.
I remember John had a long trench coat on
And Jimmy had on a black leather jacket and white jeans.
I live in Tasmania. A beautiful state.
Jimmy Barnes has been recovering from surgery again on his hip now touring again.
You really need to watch more john farnham try "your the voice" ,With the melbourne symphonty orchestra
Hi Nick we live in a place called penguin Tasmania omg ,we love Jimmy Barnes, and John Farnham has been recovering from cancer.
Near Devonport! May have passed through :) Tasmania is one of the most beautiful places in the world
Hi Nick Devonport is about 20 minutes from us Ulverstone is before Devonport,👍 and I'm also a really big Adam Lambert fan ,if you have a chance singing soaked, glam nation live wow you're going to be blown away.
And yet Diesel who is playing the guitar is the best singer out of the three!! 💯
Guitarist is diesel, jimmy's brother in-law also check there other songs
Jimmy Barnes daughter Mahalia is pretty awesome as well
THIS IS A CUT AND PASTE ON JOHN AND HIS FRIENDS.
Jimmy Barnes used to be the King of Rock. John Farnham used to be the King of Pop. John's first hit song was Sadie the Cleaning Lady at the age of 18 in 1967 and here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/eZeRmpvCjEw/v-deo.html Olivia Newton John's favourite singer was John and they worked together from time to time. Here they are together at the opening Olympics ceremony in Sydney in 2000 singing DARE TO DREAM: ua-cam.com/video/NwIfmS-Pml0/v-deo.html They also did a 2.5 hr show together with another great talent (Anthony Warlow who was our Phantom from the show Phantom of the Opera) - the show was called THE MAIN EVENT: ua-cam.com/video/qd-USQDe9dg/v-deo.html As for Jimmy, yes he did WORKING CLASS MAN: ua-cam.com/video/t3TPmPOrDEk/v-deo.html and is also known for singing with Tina Turner SIMPLY THE BEST: ua-cam.com/video/crAgnI9BF6M/v-deo.html If you get the chance watch John singing his rendition of the Beatles classic HELP. John Lennon loved it and said the Beatles wanted to do it slow like that and the manager wouldn’t allow it: ua-cam.com/video/dv54giOSRKs/v-deo.html and YOU'RE THE VOICE: ua-cam.com/video/6m2m_9Uijso/v-deo.html OR THE WHOLE CLASSIC JACK LIVE CONCERT WITH THE MELBOURNE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PLAYLIST: ua-cam.com/video/UWnm_qwa2Xg/v-deo.html

As for a bit about them. Jimmy was the lead singer for the band COLD CHISEL and John played lead for a little while in THE LITTLE RIVER BAND. There is a nice biopic on John that recently was seen in the cinemas and now is on DVD - here is the trailer and the 1st voice you hear is ONJ: ua-cam.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/v-deo.html

Another reaction channel (www.youtube.com/@TeacherPaulReacts/videos) has heaps of video reactions on the HISTORY of John Farnham - some are even in parts 1-12? Not sure how many parts. Just go through them.
Always better to go for live versions with John. He’s great anytime, but live….hes dynamite!
A little info here…..back in the day those bottles were filled with real booze and the two of them got pretty hammered….so funny.😂
🙌🏻
Aussies yes but both were born in the UK.
Get a wheat pack and heat it in the microwave, put it on your back !!😅❤
Tasmania Is not Australia 😄 . It's a world onto itself . Joking aside Please keep up with John, Jimmy, Johnny, LRB and the founders of Aussie Music. Australia and New Zealand (and Van Daemons Land) are true lost lands 😀
studio is nothing compared to live with either of these artists
