His harmonica was a gift from his father when he was seven years old. He also has a gaming channel on here that I follow, and we chat in the live chat. He's hilarious to boot.
This is the best version of this beautiful song I'm sure I will ever hear. He gives it the respect and the power I feel it has been waiting for for 200 years. I'm glad you were able to comment on his breath work. He has worked tirelessly for well over 10 years to produce this quality to his voice work. His work is fire. He proves in this he has the voice of an archangel.
I'm not a singer but noticed his chest width immediately and how effortlessly he sings. Most singers would be out of breath hitting these notes. But not Dan. You can barely see him take in air through his nose. I find myself holding my breath at the end thinking "how long can you hold that note?"
I first heard Dan Vasc a couple of months ago ,always said metal was not for me , but his music just blows me away ,particularly Gethsemane .I am so pleased you played his music.
His version of this beautiful timeless song is taking the world by storm - and with good reason and rightly so. The work is so perfect that words fail you when you hear it for the first time. 🌟
The first time I heard this version, I was in a super dark place. This randomly popped up as a suggestion, and how lucky am I that it did. By the end I was sobbing. I had never felt so seen as a flawed human being who is trying to do the best they can. It felt like God himself had hugged by heart, and I'm not religious. I listen to it once a day at least now, because it instantly fills me with hope. (I even named my newest pet spood Grace after it.) Now, I listen to Dan's channel all the time and all of his covers are phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and fall down this rabbit hole. It's so worth it. As Dan says, have an epic day!
Beautiful story of yourself, thank you for sharing. And yes, every time we listen to Dan it’s like a new wave of hope and optimism just washes away our pain, tiredness or any negative feeling we might be experiencing. God bless you and remember there’s a Dan’s team out there and you’re part of it🥰
The last song I ever heard my Mom sing. We just sang it at her funeral a few weeks ago. My brother played and I sang. It’s a special version Dan does. I would have played it if I had known. She would have adored it.
Just so you know and I don't know if it will make you feel better, Dan sang this song for his dad that had died a few days before he recorded this. It was his dad's favorite hymn and the harmonica. His dad gave that to him when he was 7. Why it's so passionate. What a tribute from a son to his father.
Dan put this song out for Easter and when I saw it, I was simply amazed. Total chills every time I hear it. I've become a huge fan of his music. Please react to more Dan Vasc music.
During my 60 years on this planet I have never heard/seen talent like this. Dan Vasc is phenomenal! Talent like this is quite possibly a 'once in a lifetime' find. To be across all genres and not be weak(er) in any of them is astounding. I have never been a metal fan and when I saw "Metal Singer sings Amazing Grace" pop up on my UA-cam I swerved it for a couple of weeks having the preconceived idea that "it's not really my thing!" I am so grateful that my curiosity got the better of me, call it female intuition or maybe I just simply couldn't not give it a go, it matters not! I have never had a 'favourite artist' either but I do now!!! His cover of 'Gethsemane' from the Musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' is outstanding. His acting skills are incredible and well worth watching. His facial expressions tell a story in most of what he does, very subtle at times but brilliant. He has a great sense of humour, can laugh at himself (check out his cover of 'Pour some Sugar on Me' (trip to the beach)) and as others have mentioned 'Burn Butcher Burn,' 'I'll Make a Man out of You,' and 'Dawn of Victory' who he sings with one of his major influences Fabio Leone (Rhapsody of Fire) but with his own band 'Fearless.' is again, outstanding. If you want really heavy metal check out his cover of 'Evanescence - Bring me to Life' - no need to comment further - just watch!
Dan Vasc , if I said he was outstanding, awesome, phenomenal, would all three be an understatement. This man sings Amazing Grace the way it was meant to be sang . I'm 65 and this man is by far one of the best singers I've ever heard . I have listened to country , rock , metal , you name it I have listened to it . I never had a favorite singer over the years because there are so many that's very good . Today my favorite singer is Dan Vasc .
Dan is classically trained, has a 3-4 octave range, arranges/produces all his songs, plays multiple instruments, and speaks/sings in 4 languages. He has over 200 plus covers on his channel from opera, musicals, show tunes, pop, rock, hard rock, and metal. He actually has a cover of Disturbed Sound of Silence FYI his father gave him a harmonica at age 7 and it was the first instrument he learned. Enjoy exploring his amazing unique covers. I’m a opera fan and his cover of Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s Torandot is breathtaking. ❤ Subbed and liked!!
You covered info about Dan beautifully! A little additional information is that his mother was an opera singer and the name of the metal band is FEARLESS. At present they don't perform live outside Brazil. SO glad we have UA-cam!
@@karenmurphy6028 thanks so much for the additional info. I love that so many people from around the world can come together to share in their love and appreciation of Dan’s passion for music.
Welcome to Vasc-Nation! That harmonica was a gift to him from his late father when Dan was seven; his dad passed in 2017. Have fun exploring Dan's channel; every single song is a banger!🤘🤘🤘
Dan has over 225 covers, it's an incredible rabbit hole you do not want to miss. His heart and soul along with his expression and animation are Magnificent. He does have training and does have a band "Fearless". He does all his recording , mixing his timing and work is impeccable. A few songs out of his many is The Elvis Trilogy A dedication to his Father 5 days after he passed from cancer and that was 5 - 6 years ago. His "Mulan" cover of "I'll make a man out you " is incredible. His one man Choir singing "Hallelujah " And his beautiful Cover of America's National Anthem" . Great reaction. The emotion that this song elicits in me is reverence. I think you will be equally blown away by Dan's performance of the Hallelujah Chorus (one man choir).
Nick you are amazed by sweet sound becoming Metal in Dan's interpretation of Amazing Grace. I love being surprised by Dan. He is such a significant contemporary interpreter that I have no words for it. No matter what song to cover, he always goes all in. Nick I love your reaction to Dan's Amacing Grace. If you want to post more wonderful reactions I recommend you Dan's cover of "Burn butcher burn". I also recommend you his "Angels We Have Heard On High" cover. I won't reveal anything about it now, except that he redefined the appearance of arcangel wings.
I've listened to Dan sing this at least 100 times and I still get head-to-toe rush of goosebumps. I think that even my hair got goosebumps. I love his voice.

I'm a traditionalist. Dan was absolutely beautiful for Gethsemane. However, I absolutely love Ian Gillan singing the song. He was the first Jesus in JCS, and no one can touch him.
Welcome to the Dan Vasc rabbit hole, should you choose to enter it. :P (Please do it's amazing and we have cookies!) If you're interested in both the range of his voice and his abilities as a perfomer, there's no better video to check out than his cover of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. I've seen the musical several times and grew up hearing the original recording with Ian Gillian as Jesus and damn does Dan do a phenomenal job with that song. He doesn't sing it, he performs it. It's fantastic!
I love how raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected into what it is today. He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such respect, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of Amazing Grace that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). Since discovering Dan Vasc and in particular his incomparable version of this beloved old hymn, I search the channels reacting to it in the hopes of finding joy in shared first reactions, faces tell everything! And I sure did in yours, pure awesome, thank you! Subbed my appreciation. 😊❤ Dan turning a harmonica into bagpipes is equally amazing to me.
@@nickforell1 You are so genuine and pure in your reactions. Your face displays the awe and the joy of what you are feeling as you are listening. You're the most genuine reactor I've ever seen. Also, I'm a Grandma and it's a Grandma thing. I'm proud of you. You are very entertaining and being completely adorable doesn't hurt. Keep on keeping on. You know that I'm a fan. You're the best.
I've watched a lot of the "reactions" to "Amazing Grace", by Dan Vasc, but really enjoyed yours. I like that you don't have a long introduction into your comments--some are really "annoying". Also appreciate the yellow background, it doesn't distract when you are talking. One that you might enjoy, if you haven't already watched it is "The Star Spangled Banner", but then you have to also watch his "I need to apologize" (I think that's what it is called), you'll see a wonderful side of him. I am also very impressed by him and know almost nothing about singing. Have an "EPIC" day.
You should also react to the version by Amira Willighagen. She was just 13 years old when she did this song. She has a beautiful opera voice and the song is using bagpipes.
Nick, since you understand his breath control (unlike so many other reaction reviewers)---PLEASE...try Dan's ONE MAN CHORUS of HANDEL'S HALLELUJAH CHORUS...You will see 24 images of Dan on the same screen masterfully executing ALL the vocal ranges of that piece. PLEASE!!! React and review that one!! Amazing Gace is great--but the Hallelujah Chorus by Dan is WOW!
One of my favorite covers from Amazing Grace. It's nice to hear that song from England gives so much feelings and emotions around the world, especially in U.S 👍🏼
God showed up! Dan is so loved by many what a beautiful soul he is. Thank you Dan for who you are may God bless you for the rest of your life in Jesus mighty name Amen. Love 💕 from America. Nick I truly loved your reaction sweet man. MAy the Lord bless you always.
Difficult question: Which is the better cover and why - Dan's "Amazing Grace" or David's "The Sound of Silence"? No offence either way. I love both. Just thought this would be fun to consider.
Thank you for such a lovely reaction. I find myself watching as many as i can find because I'm watching the same emotions i felt appear on the faces of those listening to him for the first time. Like the joy you feel watching your kids open their presents on Christmas morning 😊 I absolutely love the moments when Dan reaches for the microphone....it means theres an eargasm about to be delivered any moment. Hes an extremely talented young man ❤
Thank you for an amazing reaction to this song/singer! I have listened to Dan for a couple of months now, and even though I’m not a ‘metal-type’ person, cover is the BEST EVER!! This song has all the feeling it should have, thanks to Dan’s talent! Your reaction and words of encouragement and explanation were spot on!!! (I have subscribed because of your sincere and knowledgeable take on Dan!)
This version is fantastic!!!!! Loved your review - your talk of his amazing breath control was great but you stopped at the end.....it's like he goes 30 seconds on 1 breath and even gets louder towards the end seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I did see a comment on one review about his voice control - he knows he took at least 4 breaths lol during the song lol 😄
I listen to this song several times a day. I still get chills and goosebumps each time. Often, I cry. The Holy Spirit is speaking to our hearts through Dan, don't doubt it! Some of those chills you feel are the Holy Spirit tugging at your heart to accept Jesus as your savior! Today IS the day of Salvation... don't put it off another day!
This is by far my most favourite version of Amazing Grace. I think I’ve binge watched many of Dan’s recordings, snd remain stunned throughout. I’m in the UK, and when Dan played the harmonica it was so evocative of the bagpipes, which was very special. I think at least 1000 of the views on this sing are from me! 😂
Thank you for reviewing technique and talent. The incredible. 23-24 seconds of total breath output at the end. Hair shy of 4 complete octive changes. High F# women can't hit well. WYkYK. Superb. BTW, not as much a patriotic song as religious. Newton wrote this in 1700s after coming to regret and turn from his role in the human slavery regime, turning from his role as ship captain/trafficker. This version brings that emotion into perspective. Its not a quiet perspective for someone who was totally broken from selling fellow human beings, to come to realize repentance and forgiveness. Newton became a forefather in preaching as someone who was relieved of a heavy weight.
His dad gave him the harmonica when he was 7. He said his dad used to walk around the house playing the harmonica when Dan was a little boy. His dad passed away in 2017 from cancer. This was one of his dad’s favorite songs. Listen to Dan’s cover of An American Trilogy that he recorded a few days after his dad’s funeral. The emotion is very raw and beautiful!
For an extremely long time, my favourite Version of this song was a very classical one from, of all things, the detective Conan Movie "FUll Score of Fear" I still love that Version wich is sung very simple and with such a beautiful high resonanting voice, but man, Dan Vasc has blown it out of the Water, I had _tears_ in my eyes at the end
What a great reaction, Nick, to this stunning piece of work! Thank you for the quietness of your comments and the knowledge that you brought into your response. Isn't Dan great?! Yes, turn yourself loose in the Dan Vasc rabbit hole and hang on for the ride of your life. He is amazing and very responsible for this grandma learning to appreciate the fact that Power Metal can be appreciated. I'm finding out that there are a lot of metal singers that are vocally trained and Dan is definitely one of them. His screams and growls are placed right where he wants them to be and how he's trained them to sound. There's nothing random in the notes he allows to happen. This hymn was created for Dan's voice and his powerful interpretation of it. He took me to the mountain with it. ♥
You are a wonderful reactor.. i enjoy your personality. Dan has a beautiful voice. I was disturbed by something and came here to listen to special and calming voice. Even when he screams, i feel triumphant angels singing.
His dads harmonica and favorite song. Love how he stands still and just sings. Not much to say about that. Just WOW... He didn't practice that much. It came from inside
Loved your reaction. Dan is a very talented signer with a fabulous voice. This song captivates people who would not usually watch a metal video. But the combination of tne beautiful voice in the beginning and the metal in the second half was stunning and powerful. Now I watch him all the time.
He really 'takes us to church' with this one, doesn't he?! His is my favorite version of this song. Thank you Nick! I haven't found any of his songs that I am not totally impressed with. You've got to hear him sing Disney's 'I'll Make a Man Out of You' from Mulan and then listen to his rendition of 'Wuthering Heights'. I was shocked!
He took that old lady song and made it a warriors song. Beautiful, song and singer.

Excellent reaction as always.
You're the best Anna!
He is absolutely a really nice guy. He is intelligent and s wonderful singer. He is a Brazilian and that is where he lives.
Seriously! ABSOLUTELY 💯 💯 💯 INCREDIBLE!! Once-in-a-lifetime (dare I say illenie?!) talent!! 🤔 👏 3:30
One of my favorite covers from Amazing Grace. It's nice to hear that song from England gives so much feelings and emotions around the world, especially in U.S 👍🏼
Please listen to his cover of black wind fire and steel if your impressed with his breath control in this you ain't seen nothing
Okay, great suggestion!
God showed up! Dan is so loved by many what a beautiful soul he is. Thank you Dan for who you are may God bless you for the rest of your life in Jesus mighty name Amen. Love 💕 from America. Nick I truly loved your reaction sweet man. MAy the Lord bless you always.
I loved your reaction. ❤
I would like to suggest Rhapsody of Fire "son of pain" or from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar "Gethsemane"
Like the joy you feel watching your kids open their presents on Christmas morning 😊
I absolutely love the moments when Dan reaches for the microphone....it means theres an eargasm about to be delivered any moment.
I did see a comment on one review about his voice control - he knows he took at least 4 breaths lol during the song lol
😄
Yes 🙌 he’s utterly amazing
Angels we have heard on high.Dan Vasc
I listen to this song several times a day. I still get chills and goosebumps each time. Often, I cry. The Holy Spirit is speaking to our hearts through Dan, don't doubt it! Some of those chills you feel are the Holy Spirit tugging at your heart to accept Jesus as your savior! Today IS the day of Salvation... don't put it off another day!
Loved your reaction❤ we need a new English word to describe his energy, compassion, conviction and vocal ability. Luv him.
I agree with what you saying, I learned something new, and I have listened to Dan every chance I get he does amazazing job
Oh yes! That is the BOSS himself..a very versatile singer..😘
Pentatonix did a cover of this that is awesome also.
I listen to his amazing grace version every day. It is so joyful. ❤
I subscribed to you because you give Dan the credit by linking to his channel. I like that. Your reaction was super as well... 😁
I appreciate that. He’s truly amazing
😊🎉❤
❤
This is by far my most favourite version of Amazing Grace. I think I’ve binge watched many of Dan’s recordings, snd remain stunned throughout. I’m in the UK, and when Dan played the harmonica it was so evocative of the bagpipes, which was very special. I think at least 1000 of the views on this sing are from me! 😂
Unbelievable song
Amen Amen Amen 🙏🏼 🙌 👏
A funn song you might like is House of fun. By the band madness
Great reaction.😊
Thank you!! 😁
Thanks!
Thank you Kat! That means so much =)
Guy's a friggin' powerhouse!!
I can’t hear this song too much…I listen to several reactions a day….over and over again!!
I cannot stop listening to and watching Dan Vasc singing God’s message to my ❤️ Wow, I love this!
You are a wonderful reactor.. i enjoy your personality. Dan has a beautiful voice. I was disturbed by something and came here to listen to special and calming voice. Even when he screams, i feel triumphant angels singing.
I got goosebumps on my goosebumps. LOL
His dads harmonica and favorite song. Love how he stands still and just sings. Not much to say about that. Just WOW... He didn't practice that much. It came from inside
Here I am rewatching your reaction again!
I wish my church played music like this. AMAZING ❤
Nvm, it didn't show me until after I asked the question, now I feel stupid
All good, glad you’re here!
by the way I truly enjoy you and your reactions
Thank you very much :)
Loved your reaction. Dan is a very talented signer with a fabulous voice. This song captivates people who would not usually watch a metal video. But the combination of tne beautiful voice in the beginning and the metal in the second half was stunning and powerful. Now I watch him all the time.
He's not done yet. The end is amazing
I feel he sings it exactly how John Newton felt as he wrote it!
Three words sum up his rendition, Oh My God.
Check out his Sound of Silence
Best performance ever
