Thanks for the tip I'm new to knife making and you help out a lot. Putting the right edge on a blade is a hell of a lot harder than I thought
Awesome Cliff!!! Thanks !! your shop and store are looking GREAT !!
thanks buddy
Keep them coming! Great video!
Your videos are excellent as the information…… Thank you
Well done, thanks a lot for sharing!
Another excellent tutorial!
Nice to know thanks. I got a 2 x 42, which is accessorised for sharpening lathe tools, but it's good to keep this option open.
Awesome. Great channel. Now I sharpen and clean the boss ladies cutlery. I'm golden now. Lol
Thanks, Cliff
Is this the dual speed model? Thinking about getting one and putting a buffing wheel on the disc side but not sure if the safety shroud comes off on the dual speed machine. Low speed is 1750 rpm, think that's too fast for sharpening?
Thanks for all the helpful and informative videos you share!
Is that done on just the coarse or medium belt?
Great tip!
No guard on that angle grinder? I'm calling OSHA!
Mandatory Safety comment...waiting for one on my flip flops.
Great info!
Do you have the DC motors for the HF 1x30 conversion on your store, or is it only on Amazon? Looking to do the whole kit and caboodle, but I just want to make sure I get the right parts.
Dont sell the motors....originally tried to do this 4yrs ago with a better different motor but the stopped making it.
Great mod Cliff. Love the fact that we sharpeners find modifications which take a basic tool and convert it to a more effective tool. What speed do you find works best with the scotch-brite belts?
Fast which is what this basic machine does well...
Nice fix. So....where does one get those Scotch-Brite belts? :)

Are there any 2x42s that dont require cutting like that?
To run the thicker belts like felt or scotchbrite Im fairly sure that all machines of this type do require modification.
an open frame style machine like the new Grizzly 2x42 may be the answer. Also the "multitool brand" 2x36 and 2x48 work
@@CurryCustomCutlery Thanks. I just ordered a similarly styled grinder from Eastwood so looks like I will need to make that modification.
I did this long time ago and it weakens the whole belt guard whatever is called, when you put a belt it bends, I fixed by putting an angle all the way from bottom to top.
Did you remove the entire bottom plate or just a square area like I did?
About the same, whenever you try to tighten belts so they won't flap around that's when you can notice that bends.
Need cut more, still touching
You may be right I wanted to keep the strength of the frame as much as possible. I may need to remove a little bit more but for the purpose of making a tutorial video I think we achieved the goal.
