LV started out as a member of South Central Cartel. He’d sing a lot of their hooks. Coolio started out as a member of WC & the Maad Circle. When they collaborated for this song I knew it was going to be a classic because they were both extremely talented
Yes I was 8 and in 2nd grade in 1995 and I remember one time I was at a roller rink one night at the time and when this song came on, the DJ said “I want everybody to scream if you wanna hear this song!”!
French white dude here. That song is the first I learned by heart, I was like twelve and the song was out, and it was huge. The movie is Dangerous Minds, and the blonde chick is Michelle Pfeiffer, one of the biggest Hollywood star of the 90's.
Growing up as a white person with a fairly wealthy family you'd think at first sight that I was someone really well off but this song very heavily relates to me. Between the abuses I've suffered, having to find my own way in life with no family support, and ultimately joining Blackwater after I had nowhere else to turn. My life is just very relatable in the words of this song.
Coolio brilliantly sampled a Stevie Wonder song, "Pastime Paradise" (from his amazing 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life) to create this powerful version, which was the title song for the 1995 movie "Dangerous Minds", starring Michelle Pfeiffer. Almost 40 yrs later, it retains as much power and, unfortunately, relevance to today's society. Thank you for reacting to it 🙏
Its really hard to find Hip Hop like this nowdays. I remember when this song came in the middle of the 90´s? Every pubs and disco techs played this again and again. God what a time! 😀
This is not even about being black or living in another continent… It’s so weird that y’all don’t know this song. Gangsta’s Paradise was that one song I couldn’t get out of my head as a kid and grew up to realize that it was one rap song that helped bring in more white listeners to the genre because of its positive lyrical content and message… and YES, it was the official soundtrack for the movie DANGEROUS MINDS which was incorporated into this music video.
Honestly did you actually listen and understand the context of which the conversation we were having was about? Because me going back to listen to this and watching it again, we were very clear about what we were discussing
@@Amicy Yes, I did. If you also read my comment carefully, you’ll see that I did not fault you guys for not knowing the song. The only thing I did not make clear was that I lived in a very rural area in Nigeria when I heard that song… meaning if I could have heard the song back then, then there’s a high possibility that other rural areas in other parts of the world could have heard it too. Hence, the reason I used the word “WEIRD”
I'm confused about what part of this song you think is positive? The whole song is essentially about the struggles of people who have very rough times in society and end up as troubled kids or criminals.
Hey guys, thank you for your videos (and sorry for my English, it's bad) just if you interesting by a french singer. I propose to you to see a performance of Anne Sila, in the final show of "The Voice french" The song is CHANDELIER and she's amazing! So.... Just an idea. And Ciao
I love Coolio. It was a fun reaction to watch. There is a recommended MV. BE:FIRST's 4th single [Mainstream] MV has been uploaded. This is the most amazing MV ever. A shocking hip-hop and dance video. I want you to react.
You will not find a better example of what rap is supposed to be. This song is perfect... masterpiece
...but rap has gone downhill ever since. Sad.
This was ahead of its time and is a very good interpretation of the reality of the world at that time
@@JmOnEyXzand still his way to so many.

I was in LA in 1995, I used to hear this song every where. Powerful song! It’s bringing back old memories too. Great song and great film.

As a little white girl this was the first deep and powerful rap song I ever heard and it moved me.
It still does.

@@Amicyit’s a very forgotten movie. It just “came and went” so to speak… this song was bigger than the movie
@@angelskunk2206it’s good, but it’s not considered a classic. It’s very forgotten

Weird Al - Amish Paradise
LV absolutely bodied that bridge and hook. And that beat is incredibly menacing.
Gangsta's Paradise is Coolio and LV is the other man singing. Timeless and great.
Next, you gotta check out Biggie and Bone Thugs N Harmony song "Notorious Thugs". An absolute masterpiece, anything from them is.
