- Introducing the all-new Garmin eTrex SE, a fully loaded GPS device that is perfect for beginners, minimalist, or group learning and activities such as geocaching. With an impressive battery life and simple-to-use design, the eTrex SE is a big update from its predecessor, the eTrex 10 handheld.
BUY IT ON AMAZON: amzn.to/40rjnFf
This device comes with Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity, allowing you to sync with your smartphone or tablet and access all of your Garmin Explore collections, receive phone notifications, download geocaches, transfer software updates, and even view weather forecasts of your current location.
The digital compass makes functions like Sight n Go practical, and with features like project waypoint, waypoint average, area calculation, and sun & moon, the eTrex SE offers a full range of functions.
Track your activities just like with recent handhelds, where you can save and load tracks, courses, and routes. The map screen works like any recent Garmin device, but without a basemap. This provides a classic GPS feel reminiscent of the early 2000s.
With virtually identical dimensions and weight to the eTrex 10 or 20, the eTrex SE boasts an impressive battery life of up to 168 hours of normal usage on just two AA batteries.
Experience the full capabilities of the eTrex SE for the low cost of $199 CAD or $149 US. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned explorer, the Garmin eTrex SE has something to offer.

Thank you for the guide series for etrex se. It convinced me that this simple device will fulfill my needs 😊
Glad I could help!
you enable waas. makes it completely accurate.
Are you able to change the grid reference? For land navigation
Hi is it possible to calculate areas with the carmin etrex se?
hello is this device trusty for acuracy? im gona rely it for enter big jungle my self
Is settings were you would go to do feet and miles, also time?I'd like to see a video on the things you can do in settings?
Yes, it should be under setting -> unit/format
Ok, but unfortunately it cannot make a sound, so it does not indicate deviation or turnings. This makes it unsuitable for backpack navigation. I don't really understand what the point of the gadget is.
Is it possible to upload a small map to the eTrex SE just like the older eTrex 10?
Nope, you are thinking maybe the etrex 20? Was reading articles on garmin support this morning and this one won’t be able to load maps due to low memory and lack of sd card slot.
@@AvoidingChores No, I'm talking about the yellow eTrex 10 with a monochrome display and 8MB of internal memory. Check out the videos on UA-cam.
@@AvoidingChores You could actually upload a small map on the Etrex 10, and small I mean maybe one county at the most and that's deleting the basecamp that it came with.
@@tenfourproductionsllc I wondered as the internal memory in this new version barely doubled, i think it’s 16 or 24mb (forget what the spec sheet said). So small it is easy for me to dismiss that any map would have been useful on it. But then again, I tried installing a map on the OG fenix once as you describe replacing the .img files on the device.
@@AvoidingChores Yeah, I have the same question too. I have the etrex 10 and I was able to install a small map too simply by accessing the internal memory via pc and getting rid of the original map and installing a small map I created and renaming it the same as the original map.
I want to buy one of these too but I want to make sure I can access the internal memory and replace original map, ie to have read/write access.
Cheers
I have owned eTrex 30x for several years and the question is; any reason to upgrade to this model ?
I'd hold off for a few months to see if my hunch that we will see an "explorer" version to replace the eTrex 20/30 will be correct.
I was wondering whether the SE is actually an “updgrade” over the 20x/30x at all, given that it lacks topo maps and internal battery. An new version of the 30x would be nice, like something with maps, USB-C charging, but not the full 66/67 package (and price).
I’m betting that we will see a real update to 20/30 in a few months maybe fall.
eTrex SE is pretty similar with gpsmap 66s factions I think.
Other than the maps & birdseye. It has all the functions plus digital compass. For those who want to go old school (pre-2007) might be worth a look
@@AvoidingChores So not even a basemap? The original Etrex 10 had a basemap
@@tenfourproductionsllc it did? I was trying to remember as I thought it didn’t initially, the main reason why some opted for the 20/30 back in the day.
No place for a SD card?
It’s under the battery cover
