  • Here’s how to modify an IKEA ISKÄRNA lamp to work with Philips Hue (or any Zigbee Light-Link compatible system).
Apologies for the potato quality of video and rushed edit!
The Zigbee controller can be found at m.aliexpress.c... - remember to get hold of the exact FUT037Z model (RGB) as other part codes may not support Zigbee or support different light types.
The ISKÄRNA lamp can be found in IKEA - availability depends on store/region but stock was pretty good in the UK at time of posting www.ikea.com/g...

Thank you much for this video. I bought these hoping it would be possible but you are the first person I've seen pull it off. The fact you made a video guide is very, very much appreciated.

@robb306 I am using this with Home Assistant and just noticed that the head is still "on" even when set off. Like it's a really dim light you just see when it's completly dark. It's it the same with Hue?

would love to add a led strip wled with a wemos d1 with wled flased on it wondering if the base could be removed to place your own led strip (ws812b) without destroying it

There’s a PCB ‘ring’ of LEDs that can be removed. I’ve not gone down the rabbit hole of investigating replacing it with other LEDs though

Not necessarily- You should also be able pair directly to some remotes (such as the IKEA STYRBAR) but I’ve not tried this myself (and don’t have any spare remotes to test with, sorry!)

@@derekschinke2512 yes! I have two of them working, in the beginning it was quite frustrating, to put it back together, as there is little room. One IKEA lamp, had a loose wire, and because of that it had some problems to get the right color. I had to solder the cable to fix that. But yeah happy with the result. Works great with the Philips hue system

@@Dolle_ManI just did it too, I found that it just doesn't work with the entertainment areas or white balance adjustments in hue
