    Wonderful instructions! I’m a fifth grade math teacher… which is the level all these institutions have their basis in. Your explanation is very easy to follow, with nothing for the quilter to assume. Thank you!

    Very informative. I have been re-calculation some blocks and used pretty much your method, but too often I forget to add the seam allowance. I start over!!
    I have a cheat sheet hanging in my sewing room now to help me.
    Thank you.

    Excellent tutorial. I am stumped how you get 1 as seam allowance for your piece A when you were demonstrating how to go from a 12 to an 8 inch block.

    Thank you. This was very detailed and you were talking at a great calming speed. I would like to know how to calculate how many four patch blocks I would need to add to a panel quilt that measures around 36 x 44. Also how to square a quilt panel.

    • @sunrisequiltstudio
      @sunrisequiltstudio  3 роки тому +1

      If you make your 4-patch units to finish at 4" square (4 1/2" unfinished), you will need 44 units to fit around your 36 x 44" panel (9 will go on the top, 9 on the bottom, 11 on each side and one for each corner). When you square up your panel, make certain that you leave a 1/4" seam allowance on each side. Use a long ruler with your rotary cutter.

    How/Why did you use 1 inch seam allowance on piece A--- since it is a 1/2 square triangle can you not use the standard 7/8 inch as the seam allowance?

      Yes you can, but I find that it is still not an accurate size when finished - it's still a bit too small. I prefer to make them a bit larger and then trim down to the correct size.
