  • Introducing the Vicente Carrillo India Estudio Classical Guitar, one of two new Vicente Carrillo guitars now available at Classical Guitar Academy.
A fine instrument by Vicente Carrillo featuring the classic pairing of Spruce top with Indian Rosewood back/sides, an ebony fretboard and cedar neck with bridge and bindings made with Indian Rosewood to match the back/sides.
Vicente Carrillo guitars are renowned for their high quality to price ratio, and this studio model does not disappoint. Notes are clean and balanced, with a good sense of warmth and body to the tone. This guitar possesses the quintessential pureness of tone you would expect from a well built spruce top guitar.
This guitar (including case) is available worldwide from Classical Guitar Academy: www.classicalg...

Would you prefer this guitar over an antonio picado 54 ?

I think both guitars have excellent qualities, albeit in different areas. The Vicente Carrillo Estudio has a deeper, more woody type of character. Because of this, full tone production seems to be easier as notes naturally have more weight. I can see how this would be appealing for players who struggle with tone production, as it makes life so much easier. The Antonio Picado 54 has a more song like voice, with a clearer higher end. Because of this, the player must know how to produce a good tone, as it’s possible to make it sound more cutting by playing ‘towards the shoulder’ rather than ‘towards the elbow'. Some might see this tonal variation as a benefit, others a nuisance. It really depends on your technical ability combined with what you want from your guitar.
Tone aside, the Carrillo guitar has a narrower string spacing at fret one. Again, some players will prefer this, others need more space. I’ve found both to be easy to play, however we will all have our preferences towards one or the other.
Out of interest, which guitar are you drawn to the most?

@@ClassicalGuitarAcademy thank you very mich for your answere! Well i am actually a complete beginner but i want to purchase a guitar in this pricerange for myself for christmas ! You yourself actually sent me an email once telling me the antonio picado 53 is a nice guitar (i was asking something about a burguet guitar), but my problem is that i really cant test any of those guitars myself... EXCEPT for the carillo 54 which i could test (cedar version though... i want a speuce guitar. But nevertheless) at a local music store. Even if it will not be the exact model i will eventually purchase.. its my best shot at getting a feel for a model/guitar manufacturer that would actually buy. (I really dont like the look of all the hanika, alhambra or cordoba guitars that i can test here in vienna). I have only read good things about either the carillo and the picados, and since those are affordable and dont seem like mass produced products to me + the fact that i find them visually appealing,... i will most likely be buying on of the two. The carillo though seems to be easier to get (find vendors who sell + deliver them to austria). So my decision will be based upon factors like internet opinions, optics, availability and if i fall in love when i hold the carillo 54 cedar in my hands at the local store. Currently i find the carillo more appealing at least visually....

@@Laurenan69 No problem at all, it’s always a pleasure to help! Buying online is a tricky business, as it’s hard to tell exactly what a guitar is really like. I think you’re doing the right thing by trying guitars by each maker where available, as this will give you a good feel for the playability. As I mentioned, the character of the Picado 54 is similar to the 53, it just has a little extra realism when you upgrade to the higher model. If you do decide to go for the Carrillo Estudio or Picado 54, be sure to let me know (you have my email address). We deliver to Austria and I would be happy to offer our very best price on either model (my Christmas present to you!)
