Hey friends! Here we go! I am so excited for you all to see this new exploration. Welcome to the abandoned Scottish Mansion of Coco Chanel and the Duke of Westminster.
Wow great establishing shot Karley :). Also fantastic balance of cinematic and UA-cam storytelling. I imagine that is a fine line to balance and you are finding a middle ground really well!
Thanks for mentioning Scotland's "Right to Roam" law in your notes for this video Karley. Upon researching it further, I find it to be a very interesting legal concept which would never be enacted here in the US with our system of private property and property rights. We can't legally walk through a farmer's fields or the grounds of someone's estate in the US simply because we want to as is permissible in Scotland. Another visual reality that drew me into your investigation of that mansion was the lack of both graffiti and senseless destruction inside and outside that abandoned home as compared to what commonly occurs to abandoned properties in the US. Was refreshing to see the Scott's respect for abandoned property. Was it like that for other abandoned buildings you visited there? Keep these vlogs coming Karley.
The property owners were very smart. They know people will try to get in. So them leaving the one window open looked very purposeful. Minimized the entry / exit points for anyone looking to get inside. And it’s not impossible to find, but it’s not an easy place to go to. So I’m hoping that most people that go inside are fairly respectful. This was the only place like this we explored in Scotland so I don’t have anything to compare it to.
I’m so glad you managed to get out to rosehall! I guess my suggestion was worth it judging by your ‘creep factor’ rating😉 Glad you guys had a good time and we hope to welcome you back soon! :)
Prior to Coco Chanel, this property was built in 1822 with profits from slavery. The original name of this property is called Rosehall Mansion, because of its connection to Rosehall Plantation in Guyana South America. After slavery was abolished and the free slave profits stopped coming in, the original plantation owner couldn't afford to maintain the property thus the property changed hands. There should be a cemetery where plantation owners are buried and medical schools that were also built with profits from slavery. Know the full history of this property, if you break the drywall you'll find the original stone walls To add when this mansion was built, gold and silver coins were transported on ships from Guyana to Scotland.
@KarleyCottrell there are many descendants of slaves who carry the last name Cameron, yet don't know their ancestors' connection to Rosehall Mansion/ House of Cameron.
Wow Karley. Was you scared or Exhilarated? So did you check out it for Paranormal Activity or Ghostly Presence. What a adventure Please be safe out there in different countries. we miss seeing you and it is wonderful to see you online Warm Regards, Tim Darcy
Thank you Tim! I loved it. It was so exciting to be there. There was for sure a creep factor, but I didn't do any official paranormal investigation. There wasn't time and we couldn't bring too much equipment on the hike.
Theres a biography on Coco Chanel on you tube, what an interesting life she lived. Im such a Big chicken I wouldn't have the guts to walk around inside the house! ( I scare way easy)

they still have the original name inside. When you ask locals about it they refer to it as Rosehall.

That's pretty neat!!
Thank you! I loved it.
“I’ve reached my creep factor.” Lol
It was the end of the line for me.
"Hopefully just pigeons" this place is definitely spooky
It was creepy as heck. But I loved it.
I'd love to see pictures of it during the coco days but also a hundred years prior.
Me too!
That's my next house I am buying. Now I don't need a real estate agent to show me :)
Hahahahaa right?! Can you imagine the parties / pool hang outs in that one? Hahah
Did you spend the night in there?
I wish! That would have been amazing!
Theres a biography on Coco Chanel on you tube, what an interesting life she lived. Im such a Big chicken I wouldn't have the guts to walk around inside the house! ( I scare way easy)
Was it creepy at all goin inside? Lol 😂
Oh super creepy. But I loved it.
Did you see any ghosts? Ha
@@teejgigglesndrones hhahahh no. There were some weird noises in parts of the house that we weren't in.... but we didn't see anything
Oh. Ok 😀 we’ll that’s good anyway 😀
Why are beautiful mansions like this one allowed to decay like this it's truly heart breaking to see the damage
It was purchased a few years back with the intention of restoring it into a hotel. But at the time we saw it, obviously that hadn't happened.
