❤️A beautiful soul who found the truth Islam. Allah (God) spoke the truth...
Her voicing the Evil Systems and their oppression of the people
Especially children (naming their pedophilic institutions) made her an even bigger target...
The truth (Islam) comes at a price (death) only few in history have made such a step the likes of Malcolm X

@@ziggyaziz2689 She was 100% right about the Catholic Church and its protection of paedophile priests but get down off your high horse about Islam. The oppression the women of Iran are going thru now thanks to that Religion is a disgrace. And its not just Iran. Its Afghanistan and lots of other Muslim countries. The Hijab is a symbol of oppression and it saddened me to see Sinead in it. But no one is perfect. ALL Religions have their ways to oppress. Islam is probably the most oppressive of all right now.

The USA in general could not get their head around the fact she refused to sing their anthem before some gig. She would not do it. One commenter, a female I might add, was told she was abused as a child and this woman said "in her case, it was justified!". In the USA it seems that the country is an extension or, even worse, the centre of your ego so it cannot be criticised. And she did. She called out artists why they weren't more vocal and outspoken against the first Gulf war....I think she is a fantastic, strong person who does not obey to what management or anyone else tries to demand from her. We need more of these people in our societies.

The irony that she thought she was playing to a 60's generation of love and peace, protest-friendly, Dylan fans and got boo'ed instead. I suppose it's easier coming from a man, but should a woman speak out, she's vilified. Shame on them. She had more dignity and courage in a small frame than all those people combined. When the Catholic Church held all the power, some four hundred years ago, she would have been burned at the stake. It is incredibly disturbing to hear a crowd in the twentieth century react in that way. She spoke the truth regardless of the impact on her, because she knew what the abuse of children was actually like. I was not a fan of her music, but I have been very moved by her tragic death and the struggles she went though which few of us perhaps really appreciate. She dies an icon. I have just watched an interview with the director of a documentary about her. She said that when she premiered the documentary in Ireland, at the moment when Sinead tore up a photo of the Pope, the entire audience stood up and cheered. It is a shame that most of those at the Dylan concert, despite Dylan being himself an iconic protest singer in his youth, did not see what she was standing for and just how right she was.

She took it on the chin and threw it back at them. What a worrier. She meandered through my life from her first appearance with the Lion and the Cobra to the end. I don't have the same struggle that she did because I'm a man but my love of the sufferer's music (reggae) was probably formed similarly to hers by singing in church and love of performing. I don't claim any similarity beyond my appreciation and awe of her magnificent fearlessness displayed here with her defiant silent receipt of the crowd's ineffective disapproval. I think she was probably supposed to sing Don't Cry for Me Argentina but this raw rendition of Bob (Marley's) War shows why she was so belovéd. Stripped down emotion and honesty with no apology (exactly as she had done the week before with the Pop's picture; well he wasn't a god was he?). I was bought up catholic too but came through unscathed; It didn't make me dislike her though. You were lovely Sinéad we will remember you forever!

I was there. I was THRILLED to be in the same room as Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, et al, and I was equally thrilled when they introduced Sinead. Then the crowd, AT A BOB DYLAN TRIBUTE CONCERT of all places, originally a "protest singer"... and IN NEW YORK, a supposed liberal bastion in America, booed her practically off the stage forcing her into changing her program and quoting Bob Marley in song instead of Bob Dylan (you can hear the song she was supposed to sing, "I Believe in You" on the 2014 re-master of the album released from that concert). Kristofferson was a gem, but I've never been more embarrassed to be in a crowd. To "boo" this woman whose cause was real and true, whose talent was massive and whose presence was radiant left me so confused by what I was experiencing. Years later I interviewed her and asked about her recollections of this moment. She said "it was noise, and I've always loved noise." She was too classy to say anything negative. The fact is that she was a decade ahead of the headlines she was attempting to expose. Even though she was an early victim of cancel culture before it was called that, her shows in more recent years at the City Winery were fantastic. Sad that her gifts won't be experienced again live, but there are plenty of moments preserved in music and video... hope she's appreciated now as she certainly wasn't at Madison Square Garden that night.

She only told the piano player to stop when the piano music was beginning to make the audience noise drop (1:08). It seemed she oriented positively, somehow, to the authenticity of even the audience’s hostility, and when the piano started again at 1:48, she didn’t tell him to stop again until 2:12 as finally the audience noise seemed to be fading, again, and that’s when she took over and called for the mike to be turned up and put her hammer down. She was riding that intensity curve, and not letting it drop, despite the conflict, keeping the spectacle and emotion of the moment strong, all the way until her artwork came to its proper conclusion. The verses on class and race and skin color and human rights were clearly not getting through to the anti group who kept on jeering partly because of their confusion, like Sinead is supposed to be giving us anti church messages and here’s all this other stuff which we don’t understand so let’s jeer her even more due to their mental discomfort at having angry apparent-irrelevancy jammed down their throats. Only finally at 3:30 the audience turns, the not-even-getting-it and hostile crowd finally understands her point and submits to her in ultimate silence as the cheering tide rose.
It seems she had a hunger, or maybe an instinct, for authenticity and emotional intensity. For engagement. And allowed even her enemies enough rope to be hostile to her face for long long seconds, just long enough to get it out of their systems, and ultimately to turn their judgment and incomprehension of her to shame of themselves.
The greatest teaching moment I have seen. Genius.

Huge props, obviously, to Shuhada (I'd call her Ms. Sadaqat but I genuinely don't have any idea if it'd be Ms. or Mrs.) for the guts it took to do this, but I have to give a shoutout to Kris Kristofferson being so genuinely supportive of her during this. He introduces her with this tone that makes me feel he has an immense respect for her as a performer, and it's a shame that this cuts the beginning of that introduction, "I’m real proud to introduce this next artist whose name became synonymous with courage and integrity", and when the crowd's noise is so thunderous she can't even begin to perform, he comes up and tells her "Don't let the bastards keep you down". Dude was a country singer, a star in a genre so masculine and so all-American and so Christian and against so much of what Shuhada stood for, in particular what she stood for with the SNL performance and this performance, but here he is comforting and supporting her with genuine warmth, like a father to a daughter, like a teacher to a student, a friend. After the performance, when Shuhada left the stage, she cried and Kristofferson was the one to comfort her. While it's a shame that the two's friendship has soured in the years since, this is still very, very important and I wish more men in music had that kind of support for women in music.
