I’m to a point where I can just barely afford one of these . And it’s soooooooooo stressful because it’s soooooo much and I have no clue what to lean into performance vs battery . PLUS it took 2/3 of this year for this device to come out ! So I’m going to be pissed if I make a HUGE purchase and then in January just a few months away they start releasing laptops with 4070s and 4080s in them . I will feel like a idiot . But I also do not want to wait over a year for the legion 7 gen 8 so who knows now a days

I received mine yesterday and I'm absolutely loving it. Price tag was hefty, but my birthday is on 8/30 so why not get myself an early gift. I got the 2TB 3080Ti model (and got it covered with everything Lenovo had to offer). But boy is this thing a monster. Seems like it's the greatest laptop I've ever owned. I'm using it for gaming and work. My alienware M17 R4 is just as good as gone. Putting it on marketplace. Enjoyed the video. Can't wait for your full review.

    Perfect review !
Ordered mine yesterday, with the i9 12900hx and 3080ti sadly without the Mini-Led that is still not available here in France but your review helped me alot to take the leap with Lenovo...
I had ordered previously two laptops :
    - The Zephyrus Duo 16 with mini-Led and for me it had 2 annoying flaws : some keys (on the left) felt squeaky and fragile and the mini-Led didn't have enough "zones" so in web browsing, text & coding I had a lot of blooming with dark mode/pages... quite a perfect laptop with incredible sound quality ...if only those problems of keyboard and mini-led won't make it to production models...
    - The Alienware X17 R2, that was also quite the perfect machine, I was a huge Alienware laptop client before... the premium support is really great, the machine was light and efficient but it suffered low QC at factory and even with 2 swaps of unit I had the same problem of plastic bezels around the screen that was only glued/attached poorly...
So I was looking after a mix of the two previous competitors quoted here and it seems like Lenovo packed both of them in the Legion 7i... :) 2 weeks of wait and I'll see.
I have some questions for you if you don't mind :
    - How is the sound quality ? The speakers seem to pack some nice power in here, as they are located under the laptop don't they feel too muffled ?
    - Does the battery last long enough with this i9+3080ti combo (with some minors tweaks) ?
    - How is Lenovo support compared to Dell Premium ? I've ordered on-site support as it was discounted with my order
    Many thanks :)

as a last year Legion 7 user, i can tell you that, after couple of month my laptop became desktop. Right now i use external screen, keyboard, speaker and mouse and cooling pad from IETs. I had a chance to test 12th gen processor this year, I can tell you for sure that this year laptop is much faster in windows UI, it will turn on quickly, open windows faster and feels snapier comparing to 11th gen. Overall Intel outperformed and made huge leap in performance. But using Lenovo as a laptop, it definetly not good portable machine for cafe work, better go in direction macbooks

16" with a 16: 10 ratio is just the best decision any laptop manufacturer can take in my opinion. What a screen...
Also i've seen white keys included in the box, does that mean that all the keys of the laptop can be changed ? Also if they can be changed is that true for last year models or the 5i pro ?
Also in your opinion when is the best time of the year to get a new laptop (prices in general) ?

Yes the laptop keys are designed to be changed and they even provide 8 scissor switches in case you break any in the process. The best time to buy is a couple of months after this release when they start discounting or giving out coupons. Possibly Black Friday will be the best time

Came across this review and you've earned yourself a sub! First person with a retail product and a nice depth to your review 👌
I thought I'd add some information that might be useful for others looking at it. In July the top spec price was £3,709, and there was a 20% discount on it's website launch and then 25% near the end of July. Top spec price is now £4,650 but there is currently a 15% discount on so its £3,952.
If the price changes within 30 days of you receiving your laptop, lenovo will refund the difference (price promise guarantee, I think it's called). As I bought one just before 25% offer came in and cancelled/reordered not realising they offered this!
Hopefully mine will arrive this week and thanks to your review, I feel pretty confident I made the right choice! (Although I did buy a 3070 Ti GE66 2022 in April, so maybe I made the right choice the second time, for sale if anyone wants it 🙈😂)

Now I'm curious, is it the same in your case?!Likewise, in the case of the battery, it gets "very hot" 42-41 degrees Celsius! I also had last year's model, the one with 3080 16Gb, unfortunately I spilled beer on it... and I bought this one, but the one from last year it didn't have these problems, so I'm curious, do I have this or others too?!

This model definitely runs hotter than last years but it is also pulling a LOT more wattage this year! My keyboard and palm rest do get quite toasty and very similar to a Razer Blade. Yes, the chassis is really small, but I don't know if I'm wrong, but it seems a bit "thick" compared to last year! And one more curiosity, compared to the "competition" Legion 7 with these TDP/TGPs strictly related to the numbers (FPS) it rises to about the same level? Of course speaking of the same configurations 3070 Ti vs 3070 Ti (MSI or Dell for example ), because the numbers seem a bit small to me and I have the feeling that others (same configuration) seem to be higher! Am I wrong?!

I got the Core i7 12800HX / RTX 3070Ti model about a month ago now. Unfortunately the BIOS is locked and the previous ways to unlock the Advanced Menu settings don't seem to work on this new model. I reached out to Lenovo customer service and they told me this new model didn't ship with the Advanced Menu settings unlike previous generation models, which I found hard to believe. At stock settings though, the laptop does a good job at keeping the internals cool (GPU temps run around 68 degrees Celsius under load for me) but it would still be nice to squeeze in a few degrees less and especially undervolt the CPU.

If it's going to offer same performance and constrained thermals as the nearly $5k MSI GT77 Titan or $3k-$5k GE77HX Raider without their bulky 17" chassis, it could very well be the best gaming laptop of this summer, especially given the screen might be better than the 1440p of the Raider or on par or worse than the 4k option on Titan, however this statement has potential to be true provided this newer Legion 7i gets released and becomes available in retailers now... and not like last year, when the release of prev gen Legion 7 was scheduled for Q2, devices started to land in shops later in Q4, with pricing somewhat palpatable only by early Q1 following year (with a few coupons on black friday/christmas sales when more than a few devices became available)... Still this slimmer design and 16" chassis might be better suited to the possible AMD Advantage 6ks' pairing that Lenovo has also promised in Legion 7 line-up. Testers and reviewers would have to check and verify the cooling solution's prowess and energy efficiency in both Intel and AMD variants.

@@tatooine_dream Well they did have a chance of understandable pricing or acceptable one when all the tech in desktop space jumped in pricing, especially with GPUs sky-rocketing past twice the MSRPs, with MSRPs already pumped... as we're seeing now a decrease of prices for many computer components, these laptops need to offer something extra to warrant such pricing, and chief amongst the factors are actual availability (not just single press example device and paper launch, nor the devices "buyable" at retail/en masse but with quarter or more of wait/build/transport wait-time till actual arrival), performance/thermals (so as not to pay extra for gear that cannot actually be even used unless one wants to turn the laptop into a frying pan or hair dryer) and sane pricing (compared to competition and other PC market offerings)...
