    This is the laptop i have been waiting for, for years. An adult looking, portable laptop, for business, photo and video edition for my webpage, and for some gaming after work. Definitely going for the mini led screen as i am a sucker for a pretty panel.

    It's so close to being the perfect laptop that I have dreamed of for one and half a decade. The 24 GB ram limit is a real bummer though. And quite unnecessary, I'm sure.

      Keep in mind that its ddr5 not ddr4. I felt the same way about the acer swift 3 12th gen with 16gb ddr5 soldered. Then I checked comparisons and found that it actually performs better than 32gb ddr4. At least this one has a free sodimm slot. It probably will support 32gb ddr5 chip but hasnt been tested yet. That would then give you 40gb ddr5 which is plenty for the next 5-7 years I'd imagine.

    I like your style by reviewing this unit. And I wish you to continue creating the content in more depth. Something that I miss a lot as a person searching for information among the reviewers on UA-cam about such devices is the fact that there is not enough emphasis on upgrading limitations. By example if I want to upgrade on slot 1TB NvMe SSD by adding by example another 512GB NvME with different speed than the first, into the remaining SSD slot, how that will affect the performance in general. What has to be changed in BIOS to boost or improve performance. I am an engineer and a CAD Designer who uses Autodesk Revit and mostly Autodesk Civil 3D (which is a heavy processing and modelling software for designing Roads, infrastructure etc.) on daily basis. I do not find at all any useful review on UA-cam that investigate how performant such devices are or can be by upgrade ability (in future sense) when dealing with such demanding softwares. For me I do not care a lot about FPS and gaming aspects. I care more about the speed and stability of graphical processing information which is at the heart of my interest, and answers to questions like which is better for me speed of single core or multi cores, AMD or Intel, integrated GPU performances,how the speed of cpu cache will influence the overall performance . As I said I like your style and I wish you to flourish to one of the best tech reviewers that focuses not just on gaming or editing performances but also on engineering demanding performances.

    The legion Slim 7i Gen 7 (2022) ticks almost all boxes for me. But could you please review or add review of the mini LED Display option of this laptop. I have not been able to find any video on UA-cam showing the mini led display option of this laptop. Legion 7i slim gen 7 has a display option of MINI LED 165 Hz QHD VESA HDR 1000 certified with peak brightness of 1250 nits Gsync support. It would be great to know how this MINI LED panel compares with the similar latest MINI LED offerings from Apple, MSI, Asus, etc in terms of typical brightness, number of mini led backlights, color accuracy, etc.

    • @kaiichinose9590

      @rabin_john 2 роки тому +1

      @@kaiichinose9590 Well, I am okay with purchasing the slim 7i instead of the non slim 7 or 7i. But the issue is that I can't seem to find it anywhere - slim 7i with Mini Led display option. And there is not even one video on UA-cam showcasing mini led display option on a slim 7i.
      It's frustrating when companies advertise something but availability is zero. What a bummer !

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 2 роки тому

      @@rabin_john well I can say this. I got just got my non slim 7i in and it's absolutely fantastic. It's probably my favorite laptop I've owned. The build quality is superb and the standard wqxga is absolutely stunning. It still has good contrast and very bright. The colors pop and just all in all great. Yeah I wish legion had something showcasing the mini led display but you are right it's not listed anywhere nor any videos.

    • @rabin_john
      @rabin_john 2 роки тому

      @@kaiichinose9590 That's nice. Good to know that you are enjoying it. 😊 My obsession with Mini LED however is because of its contrast ratio (black level performance), which is the next best to OLED (without the burn in issues or low brightness issues of OLED) and the fact that the Mini LED Display option of slim 7i apparently covers 100% DCIp3 & Adobe sRGB (so it would be great for content consumption & creation in terms of color accuracy post calibration) and it's apparently VESA HDR 1000 certified, meaning, it can hit & sustain upto 1000 nits during HDR content consumption (although I am very curious to know what the typical brightness would be under full manual brightness for non-HDR) and that it has a max refresh rate of 165Hz which I believe is more than enough for gaming.
      Although I am curious to know if the Mini Led display has NVidea GSync.
      Its practically best of both worlds for gaming and content creation / consumption.
      I am aware that there are high refresh rate OLED and Mini LED laptops available but none of them ticks my boxes for port diversity like Legion Slim 7i does and some of them are bulky compared to Slim 7i.
      One other major downside of slim 7i/7 is lack of vapor chamber cooling though.

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 2 роки тому

      @@rabin_john I agree with all the above. I have two oled tvs and one mini led TV and my favorite is still oled hands down. While mini led is a great in between it still has its blooming and grayish looking areas . I also have a qled fald display which is also very bright and has good black levels. But I've never experienced burn in fingers crossed on any of my devices and I dont baby them but im not dumb with them either.
      I still prefer my tab s8ultra super amoled display over my mini led iPad pro. But it would have been nice to see either option on the non slim. The slim isn't even much thinner at all and you are right no vapor chamber. Sucks we couldn't use amd cpu with nvidia gpu this go around either. But if you are a creator the slim with mini led is a good choice. But I do wonder what those thermals will look like.

      @mikelongco 2 роки тому +3

      I have the Gen 6 version of this laptop. Heat is relative, I think.
      Does it run hot compared to, say, a Surface Laptop 4?
      Yes.
      Does it run hot compared to other gaming laptops, like the ASUS ROG G14, G15 or M16?
      No, not at all.
      I had and ultimately returned all three of those laptops - the G14 and M16 specifically due to high heat issues. Lenovo's cooling solution seems to be more mature and more effective than ASUS's at this point, and the 2022 Slim 7's have an even more advanced cooling setup than the 2021 models have (which I was already pretty impressed with).

      In mixed usage, I saw around 8 hours between UA-cam, downloading and installing some applications, browsing the Internet, and writing a portion of this review, while at 50% brightness.
      While just watching a UA-cam video, total system power draw lowered to around 6.5W, and stayed there for about an hour. This means you can realistically get 9-9.5 hours out of the 71WHr battery of video playback if no background processes pop up and eat system resources.

    What is the battery life on this laptop? I've seen some reviews saying that version 71Whr just last 3h and I'm getting confused

      @Rowan Sharwood I got one and definitely does not last 8 hours! It is probably 5 hours in good scenario, 4 hours in regular usage. But it is a great machine anyway, even better if you get the 99whr battery version.

      @@joaohenriquedebritto9206 Thanks for reporting back. Do your battery results also include reducing screen refresh rate, quiet mode, all the recommended battery saving settings, etc?

      Depends on the cpu Amd has higher battery life , but sacrifices a bit of performance. Intel is just strong asf , with almost half the battery life , and op when plugged in.
