I had no idea that you could store a spare flint under the felt pad
Mind blown right? Now you know something your friends probably don't!
Zippo true I have a Zack Daniels zippo and I love it
never again will I be lighterless, the flint always goes at the wrong time
@@zippo i dont have friends
Fr. I never replaced a flint, and recently my Zippo fucked up. I'm like, oh, it's the flint, after I see flints in the Lazada feed.
Great video. I received flints with my latest repair and had no idea what to do with them. I sent a message via Twitter and got a reply back with the link for this video. Excellent customer service!
We're pleased we can help!
I thought the hole in the felt pad is there to keep a spare flint.
You're right. A lot of people use the hole to store spare flint, but the original purpose of the hole was to make the felt pad easier to lift. Either way, it's very useful!
That’s what I’ve been led to believe by a lifelong user of zippos for over 60 years the one he carries now has been with him for 30 plus years and the pride he showed in me when I showed him my brand new matte black zippo I think he may have even shed a tear but he’ll never admit it lol
@@randallreid424 my dad gave his dad’s zippo. Grandpa Charlie soldered a brand new 1959 penny to it when dad told him he had a grandson
@@weswolever7477 that’s is pretty cool it’s amazing how a zippo lighter can be involved in such an incredible memory
I was wondering why my new zippo wasn't sparking! It had no flint in it and I thought the brass was the flint! Works like a charm now.
I take the flints out of old bic lighters. They often need to be broken in half to make them fit into a zippo. They are harder and last longer too. And free! Use two pairs of pliers to break open the bic. I do this in a large pot because the flint will fly out and you will never find it.
I thought I was frugal!😂
Thank you for showing me how to put a new flint in.
Thanks. Didn't use my Zippo for 10 years and the flint had just turned into dust on its own.
The spring and the Flint IRL go flying.
Does it have to be a zippo Flint or can it just be a generic flint?
Nearly damn impossible to unscrew the spring
Try using a screw driver or if you don't have that on hand, any coin should do the trick.
Whoever screwed in mine before i bought it went to town with it. The thing is getting chipped away as i try to unscrew it but it won't budge. Maybe he was a national hand wrestling champion or something, Jesus...
Try using a screw driver to get the spring loose. If you don't have a screw driver on hand, a quarter should work too!
@@zippo Thanks for the advice but its a bit too late. I used nippers and broke the screw. Getting replacement parts in a few days. Oops.
Sorry to hear that! If you'd like to send it to us, we will fix it for you for free: www.zippo.com/pages/repairs-windproof-lighter
Righty tighty lefty loosey
Thank you for uploading the video. One question. Can you load more than one flint?
Don't load more than one flint. Just one flint at a time. Loading more than one flint will damage your flint spring.
Hi plz I need help my zippo lighter flicker went the opposite way and cannot spark anymore wat must I do?
Yeah I filled that shit!
it still talks a lot of clicking shit but It stays moist & burns hot..
thanks Man for the cubby hole trick
How often are flints replaced?
Hi, there. Great question! Zippo Genuine Flints should last for approximately 1,700 strikes, depending on usage.
I have the anti-wind version, but the flame is not going down into the pipe. Any idea what causes this? Thanks.
Could you do tips on how to conserve fuel in your zippo or if you do can you link the video
does anyone know the colour/product name of the zippo featured in this video?
Sure thing, it's the 218ZB. You can find it here: www.zippo.com/products/classic-black-and-red-zippo
Do the spring and Brass tube are for sale? mine was eroded, I thought it was a flint but it wasn't.
Hi Zippo I wanted to know if you make your lighter designs customisable for anything the buyer wants or if you just customize the lighter with the designs you already have.
Our very talented design team creates the majority of the designs you'll find for sale, but we also have a customizer on our website where you can design your own. Check it out here: www.zippo.com/collections/customize-it
How do you change the lighter inserts?
How to remove the old flint?
I can't get it to flick the right way after replacing the flint, does it need to turned the right way or something? The wheel turns only after backing the screw out really far and only goes one way (backwards the way it's supposed to go) what is going on?
Trying cleaning the flint hole with a Paperclip. Put a new flint in and try again.
Hey, I hope someone can answer me, a friend gifted me a zippo and tried to remove the spring and I just can't get It open, I tried a coin and a small knife but It the screw doesnt spin
Remove it with needle nose. Link in comment above.
Thanks for your videos, Zippo.
I have a question that whether I can put flints two or more..
And are there some reasons that why the flint is no longer than now?
Nah
What if i ordered a zippo from finland from finnish shop do u still repair it (its real genuine zippo)
Joo kyl ne sen korjaa kunhan on aito
What coin do you use in this video? As a european i have tried even foreign coins but everything seems to be too thick for the screw.
Almost any US coins will work.
I inherited a Zippo from a dear friend who died. The problem is that something seems to be stuck in the flint compartment, and I can't insert a new flint and can't seem to get whatever is inside out. Do you have a suggestion for me? Thanks for your help.
Send the insert in to Zippo to see if they can repair it, assuming you haven't done so already.
@@Corpseplower Thanks, but what I did was to drill out the flint compartment with a small drill bit. I was then able to insert a new flint, and the lighter works great now. The drilling took a long time. I think the problem was that someone had inserted two flints at the same time. I appreciate your response.
@@kensboy1563 If you ever run into another problem with it, definitely contact Zippo about a repair. The lighters are guaranteed under a lifetime warranty, assuming the damage isn't deliberate.
Often times if Zippo themselves can't repair it, they will replace the damaged part(s). Definitely less of a worry if you get the case damaged (broken lid hinge, etc) or something happens to the insert that causes it to stop working entirely so you don't have to find a D-I-Y solution or worry about replacing a case you might happen to like with another that you don't.
0:05 Jesus Christ! How many have you got to smoke if your replacing it every couple of weeks! I smoke around 15 a days n it must be well over a month before I change it. I recon 6 flint's a year will do me.
how do you know if you need a new flint?
Hi Roman, when your flint stops sparking, it's time to change it.
my wheel fell out please help.
Hello Zippo,

That said, where do those Zip-A-Flint tubes go? They're made of plastic. I personally would rather have the flints wrapped in a humble paper. Less waste on earth, less guilt and less cost while still enjoying an iconic lighter that is the Zippo. Nothing's supposed to go to waste with a Zippo, unlike the mainstream disposable throwaway planned & perceived obsolescence culture that's everywhere. A fact about Zippo that I am so proud of. Just the plastic flint tubes that bothers my conscience.
how to fix a loose insert ?
You could bend the case inwards but it's safer yet maybe harder to bend the insert outwards. Find your way, use pliers or hammer it with some punch in a proper setup. Not much is needed and it's worth the effort. Of course you can do temporary way and jam something like cotton between the case and insert.
Oh my fuck I thought the flint spring was th flint and I must've lost mine
how to fix loose insert ?
Hi Povilas, your insert should fit nice and snug. If you're having trouble, give us a call and our customer support team will help you out or they'll have you send it in for us to fix: www.zippo.com/pages/contact-information
This screw literally doesn’t come off with a flathead or a coin
Why it is important to replace the flint?
The flint is what makes the spark to ignite the wick. Eventually, the flint will wear down. When that happens, you'll need to change the wick.
The real question is how to know when to change the flint ?
It really depends on how often you use it. If you remove the flint spring, the flint will slide right out. This will allow you to see how much flint is left.
@@zippo I don't smoke , I don't use the fluid , I just like to open close and spark with it .. I do this like 3000 times a day ... My question is will the spark always be there ?
@@AlmostGod007 Well on an average a flint should last around 1500 sparks so according to you , need to change it twice everyday? 😂😂
Tua Mazumder 😂😂😂 yaa I realised that ..... I now use a fidget spinner
Yeah I'll stick with bic too much work
They sell butane inserts as well.
Seeing a mans hands this close up has me triggered into wanting to fight..
