Ive talked to multiple people who work with Formula Rossa, and they all say the fact that it is quite easy to fix just hard to do due to the intense heat which is why they are taking so long to re open, as tempratures can reach 50 degrees celsius (122 degrees fahrenheit)
Bottom line, the spike was added to TT2 because the lsm's were unable to get the trains over the tower from a stand still start. They needed the spike to get the trains moving fast enough to reach over the 400+ ft tower. So the spike wasn't added to satisfy guests it was done out of pure necessity.
I’m not sure of it being a necessity as for example on Vekomas website they said they can launch trains up to 2gs which kingda Ka pulls about 1.7gs. The reason why it probably was added is that is would probably take an insane amount of electricity to launch at that speed which is probably why it hasn’t been done but it is possible.
you can put the LSMs partially up the spike, you can also use two rows of magnets on the track. The issue is probably around the power use, and the idea that a vertical spike can make for a more interesting launch.
The spike is purely useless for the way LSMs work which is by grabbing powerful industrial magnets and a dc electricity controller attached to those magnet which are connected to a computer on the cart there is another magnet that runs in the middle of the industrial magnets this magnet on the bottom of the cart work by paring it’s magnetic field to the magnetic field on the track from its magnets. These magnets are paired by wireless or timed controls These magnet can easily be put the tower. One of the main problems is the battery on the cart itself that powered the magnet on the cart keeps dying before the whole launch or losing its sequence due to the magnets on the track interfering with the connecting waves.😊 also for example when you look at some of the povs the camera randomly bugs that’s from the interruption of magnetic waves.
They could have extended the takeoff instead of the spike - however cedar faire wasnt willing to lose iron dragon, and the amount of electricity to launch the trains full-bore from standing is insane and would cost the park too much (The idea with tt2 is a lower operations cost, not higher - red force is a much smaller and slower coaster compared to dragster so cheaper to operate at full bore) - 3 smaller launches with less acceleration uses less power. I miss the acceleration, but I like the extra features of the rollback, 2 extra launches and a backwards spike reminiscent of wicked twister
I just can’t possibly see a world where it is completely demolished. It will probably get an Intamin LSM revamp because completely demolishing the most popular and iconic ride the park has ever seen makes absolutely no financial sense. I’ve already seen countless people say they will not be visiting the park if Ka goes, and I have no doubt great adventure has seen it as well, so they must still realise it’s potential as a crowd pleaser
Formula Rossa I think is one of the easiest fixes. It can be retrofitted with LSMs because on the airtime hill immediately after the launch, many trims kick in, decreasing it’s speed pretty significantly. With LSMs that have slower acceleration, they could install these with a slower top speed (the same speed that the train is going at after the trims) and then remove the need for the trims entirely. That way the train will go through the layout at the exact same speed as before despite having a slower launch.
The whole ride is rusting and falling apart due to the harsh desert conditions and lack of care for maintenance by the UAE - it will probably be scrapped
@@iliketrains3546 Its a much smaller and slower coaster that puts less wear and tear on the track and much lower Maintenace costs. The only option would be to replace the hydraulic cable launch with an lsm - however the top speed will be greatly reduced. Overall, its probably not even worth it to replace the launch (And all of the pieces of track that have been destroyed by rust due to lack of maintenance)
Yeah it’s done, they were blasting the train over the top hat like they weren’t caring about long term track damage, I also heard a matinence worker talking to another guy and making sure he rode ka
As said below, the backwards spike was added not be good to riders, but because LSM's lacked the power to provide enough accelerarion in one go. Do Donpa was revamped and its power increased for the final 4 years of its ops. My bet is the first iteration may jave been able to stay put, but pushing it to the 2.0 Do Dodonpa version ultimately killed it. And while the 1 mil costs a bit... i think the death of speed will also be the death of six flags great adventure which had absolutely horrendous ride ops. I am incredibly thankful myself and my friend pulled the trigger to go ride it this fall, but am gutted to never get that front row ride. We heard it might close in 2025 or 2026, but this was far too soon and done unceremoniously
I Work for six Flags. Not gonna say which one lol But Ka is not getting removed, only green lantern. As the coaster is 20 years old it’s due for some modern Day Advancements/changes to Make it more reliable & Marketable(installing LSM)I don’t agree with them not coming out & officially saying what’s going on, but as we see even with the “rumors” going around how still popular it is. In closing idk what the Reimagining will be but I can for sure say Ka isn’t going anywhere. & no I’m not the dipping dots guy😂
Not going to happen - Cedar Fair (Now six flags) relationship with intamin is in the toilet after shoot the rapids, they will never work with them again. This merger was the worst thing for intamin, because now they have lost the business of all six flags parks - the saudi funded falcons flight will be intamins final coaster before bankruptcy. Cedar fair will also never give another cent to zamperla after botching an entire ride season and losing them a lot of money. Overall, they just want the easiest solution to solving these problems - trying to rebuild the old giant coaster has proven to be more trouble than its worth, kingda ka is going the way of the dodo sadly
@@Greenmonkey552 The world doesn't revolve around just the US lmao. They have barely made coasters for the US market in the last 10 years and are doing just fine for themselves. Europe buys a lot of Intamins and I'm pretty sure Asia is interested too. Yeah it sucks for the US that the best manufacturer is not endorsed anymore, but Intamin is not going bankrupt because of it.
@@MrPatrickbuit Sure maybe they can still build some little wild mouse rides at some small parks - but intamin will never build a record breaking coaster again. Honestly given their track record - their rides seem to mechanically be crap, they kind of deserve to go bankrupt. B&M is a far superior rides manufacture
I'm VERY curious as to how Superman's future will be if it closes - will they just rip off the track, and keep Lex Luthor? If Ka closes and takes Zumanjaro with it, you got the tallest drop tower in the world.
They can’t for multiple reasons, 1 work at six flags and heard first that they’re considering refurbishing Superman first, 2 lex Luthor is a huge hit at six flags, 3 they would have to somehow transfer a Crain in there to dismantle it which they can’t because the Crain that built the tower was on goliaths side, and because they’re open all year with no off season they can’t put a Crain anywhere in there to remove it, and 4 the tower relies on also the track going up the tower so they can’t remove it fully or the tower falls over, so worst that happens is lex is still there but the tower is sitting still without Superman cars running.
I didn’t believe the rumors until CS put that out. He wouldn’t say it’s definitively closing and risk the channel credibility and reputation with parks for something not true
I think LSM can do Kingda Ka’s launch in one go it’s just that the power use would be insane. You can see the power use of red force pulling 1g to 112mph in el toro Ryan’s video which is 6mw and Kingda ka pulls 1.7gs
I think now it might close and a giga is not out of the question but Ka is a expensive coaster to maintain and a giga would be cheaper or just getting rid of it but i want it to stay
Kingda Ka going away sucks - the end of the strata coaster era. Atleast dragster will still live on as TT2. IMO dragster was the better coaster due to the lap bar and the fact that kingda ka was always the cheap six flags knockoff of dragster
