Very good video Boosh! As a fan of the current GNB (as I only started playing GNB in endwalker I don't really have a point of reference) I do see your points about what you would have liked. I do agree on the ranged into a free dash, and I also hope they give tanks a bigger positioning role in the next tier too (not that I have to do that often as OT lol)! Keep up the great work!
GNB should actually be MUCH better... assuming Lion Heart is gonna be the same speed as your other gcds, and you play at 2.5, you can use the old Shadowbringers opener, and you will NEVER have suboptimal windows. Additionally, you'd actually want to go into Bloodfest with one cartridge, to be used immediately on Gnashing Fang. It would look something like... Lightning Shot > Keen Edge > Brutal Shell > Solid Barrel > No Mercy > *Insert ogcd here* > Gnashing Fang > Bloodfest > Continuation > Sonic Break > Double Down >... From there you just finish Gnashing combo, and use Lion Heart combo. Go into Bloodfest windows with one cartridge, and non Bloodfest windows with three. No more 2 cartridge windows, no more delaying things to fix drift. The best possible window would be Burst Strike > No Mercy > Continuation > Gnashing Fang >... but it doesn't happen very often. As a side note, all other openers that i tried will eventually force you to overcap or delay your burst. This is the only one i could find that allows for an infinite loop that doesn't force delay or overcap. Source: Spent 10 hours troubleshooting and looping the rotation, emulating Lion Heart with three Lightning Shots under No Mercy. Edit: Typed full name for abilities. Also, just saying that playing GNB in this manner feels *very* similar to current iteration PLD, just with a few more ogcds. Edit 2: For anyone reading this as of 6/8/2024, there is another opener that achieves the same result, but allows you to burst about 2 gcds earlier. I imagine the one you end up using will depend on fight timelines. Lightning Shot > Keen Edge > No Mercy > *Bloodfest* > Gnashing Fang > Continuation > Sonic Break > Blasting Zone > Bow Shock > Double Down > Savage Claw > Continuation > Wicked Talon > Continuation > Reign of Beasts > Noble Blood > Lion Heart This opener allows for full Lion Heart combo to fall under earlier party buffs, BUT you will have to delay Bloodfest by one gcd on your next big window. Otherwise, it's the same idea: go into Bloodfest windows with one cartridge, use that cartridge on Gnashing Fang, then immediately use Bloodfest. Go into non Bloodfest windows with three cartridges.
0:44 as a bitter drk main moonlighting as war, I wish drk had OP short CD self heals like other 3 tanks. Also fix Living Shadow further 5:39 says 20s but spends near half of that on slow summoning animation and new gap closer so only 12s remain when it finally starts 5:46 dealing damage. It should gap close instantly from your character to your target cuz its just a glorified inconsistent "dot", like if your drk transforms into different model for some mechanic, the living shadow fades entirely or if you're unable to attack, it stops attacking your target too wth seriously lol. They're trying to make drk more accessible? It's literally the easiest tank in the game, War gauge before Infuriate upgrade has more forethought compared lol. I miss stormblood drk, it peaked there clearly.
Calling it the easiest tank in the game is a bit of a stretch when WAR and reworked PLD exist. It's very easy when you main something to fall in to the trap of thinking a job is easy simply because it's all muscle memory to you. Just the fact that you can press the wrong damage buttons and end up without the mp to use your short mit is enough to already make it harder for less experienced players. It is fair to say its filler is pretty sleeper though.
@booshalmighty I have to actually think when playing war and pld to some degree, so just assumed drk was mindless cuz does high dmg without trying and they removed MP management after stormblood making it too easy. Edit: always keep 3k MP for TBN and burn the rest of MP with darkness abilities, i don't think that's hard to mess up really unless misclick yeah 🤔
@@HyouVizer Even what I would consider pretty good players mess up the TBN thing. See PatoBolo's 611 DSR mit vid for DRK: ua-cam.com/video/J-hhDqGLDZE/v-deo.html where he messes up in P6. Add to that that you can fail to have enough gauge to summon your living shadow or that you can easily put yourself in a spot where you can overcap due to blood weapon + delirium and it's already more to think about than WAR/PLD. WAR is just keep Storm's Eye up, and PLD is don't overwrite Atonement/Divine Might by finishing a new combo.
@booshalmighty wow woah, yeah don't use darkness action unless MP is 6k or more so drops to at least 3k enough for TBN. Overcapping is usually to due to using blood weapon & delirium at same time, I see often. Best to space them out. I open with Blood Weapon to get 50 gauge quick for Living Shadow. Usually I have to sit on some gauge waiting for Living Shadow coming off CD soon. So I am glad the cost will be gone 7.0, was pretty annoying honestly. I didn't know or forgot could do that for PLD.
Make your DRK max skill speed so your living shadow will attack faster :D and will do 100% of its damage in tiny strike windows before the target goes away

Nice video, i had somehow missed that the Living shadow for DRK dont need any gauge anymore
I think the simplicity is for the PS players since its hard to put all the buttons in the controller tab/hotbars
I disagree. I play on controller, and the only current job that feels painful to play is AST due to all the targeting
