    In this video, Mark is talking about the different kinds of cartridge loops we manufacture, and our client's favourite the Signature 3D loops, and how they are manufactured.
    He also explains how he builds these loops onto belts, holsters, staging strips etc in a way that they never expand and become too loose for your cartridges to the point that they fall out.

    love your belts! after years of hand me down leather equipment, I'm finding rivets an metal rusting out. even good metal, rusting too leather acids! I would like best rust proof metals used or no metal at all with leather rapes an knots!

    • @Beavermountainworks
      @Beavermountainworks  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your kind words @Tim Barnett.
      So yes the use of metal on leather will over time rust due to many reasons. I find that brass works not any better than steel rivets. I’ve found that stainless steel lasts a little longer. Keeping the leather clean, dry and storing it in dry warm place will help prevent it.
      Sewing or lacing is the best but it takes longer to do, but be aware, lace can break down as well if the leather isn’t looked after.

    Thanks. Very thoughtful.
    On the pull through loops which are not sewn, do they stay? Do they just rely on the form to keep from loosening?
    Seems with a few rounds out they could work. Or do you glue them?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    • @Beavermountainworks
      @Beavermountainworks  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching Mark, no the loops are not sewn or glued, they stay as they are. First off one has to make sure the leather is cut the right way so that it less likely stretches, then Mark uses the cartridges to form the loops and he says it needs just the right amount of tightness around it and lastly the loop-band is sewn at either end (not between the loops but at the end each end). We're making these loops like this for almost 20 years and they all stay even after all these years.

    Hey there! Awesome demo of these loops. How do you determine the spacing of the slots that the strips go through to form the loops? I want to make some loops to hold my .30-.30 cartridges but I’m still new to leather working. Thanks!

    • @Beavermountainworks
      @Beavermountainworks  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching Matt. We actually answered your question twice already here in the comments :-) to get the measurement you need to put all the cartridges next to each other and measure that distance. Then whatever material you are using you have to factor that thickness (x2) into it and add to your first measurement. This gives you the total width and now you can divide that width by the number of slots you need to make

    Thanks I know I was vague in my question. What I meant was how much longer is that 2 1/2" leather strip (the inside part) than the actual belt buckle to Belt hole? Hope this makes sense.

      I don't know if we're on the same page or not but I was referring to the strap not the Billet part of the belt. How much longer is the strap cut then the actual waist size?

    Was the 3D design for cartridge loops used as far back as 1873?

    • @Beavermountainworks
      @Beavermountainworks  6 років тому

      The general technique was used back then but we did not research if the 3D design was used and have never claimed it was historically correct.
