KTX-EUM, which opened today as of January 5, is a high-speed power distribution train that runs at 260KM per hour from Cheongnyangni Station to Andong Station.
10:08 if you look at the floor at the entrance you will see this painted "we trust that you have a ticket when you cross this line" LOL and the ticketing system tells them which seats should be vacant, so when somebody does not have a ticket or does not follow the seat numbering, that is when they ask to see the ticket when the train is already moving...
Your ticket will not be checked but we use other method to check whether passengers bought a ticket or not. They don't ask you to show the ticket but once you bought your train ticket, your booking information will be sent to the server and they will be able to check thay you will be travelling from Seoul to Busan and your seat number. By walking around using a machine which shows how many passengers in the car that you board and which seats are occupied, they just check the number of passengers in the car is correct and are they seated in a correct seat. So, if there is difference between number of people who actually board the train and the number that the machine shows are different, they will start check your ticket. Also, if you sat on unbooked seat by mistake, they will also ask you to show your ticket and will be requested to move to the given seat. Therefore, if you bought a ticket and sat on the given seat, they won't ask to show your ticket unless there is another problem. That is how our system works and I know it is different from other countries. :)
I can confirm that the KTX are originally french and are based on the TGV (which btw can go up to 320 kmph), but they transferred the technology to South Korea and are now Korean made, but still look like the French.
indeed based on the TGV but it is a "vastly superior model when compared to the French TGV" -> 300 tons heavier, 2X passenger capacity. plus the engineering challenges in building the railroad track are far greater (with lots of tunnels and bridges...) ua-cam.com/video/8fkE93gRx7c/v-deo.html
This is an extremely well made video for dummies or newbies in Seoul. Think Seoul government should use this as an official video for KTX instructions!!
Ah thanks so much! I hope it is helpful to people who travel to Seoul and Busan! It was all super easy, especially with the machines having an english option. I hope to do the journey again soon!!!

It's a great video ! Just to clarify, you start off from Seoul station right? Do you know how long it would take get to seoul station from incheon airport? Do the KTX trains have luggage space?
Hey ZacKaryScOreS! That was fun to type! Yes we did start in Seoul station - It looks like it'll take you an hour to get there from Incheon although I haven't done this journey myself (see www.bing.com/maps?osid=d180d30c-9900-4da3-b4b7-957d8086223f&cp=37.533368~126.605378&lvl=11&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027 re how to get there - and you can use Bing maps for South Korea! For legal reasons Google Maps doesn't work so well). And yes we found luggage space on the train (we had two medium cases with us) but I'm so sorry I can't remember if there was space for huge cases. I'll ask Liam this evening and see if he remembers!
Thank you so much for replying. Good to know that my go-to navigation app google map might not work so well there. I am from Singapore and its my first time visiting Korea and planning my own itinerary with my friend. Singapore is really small country thus getting around is effortless so we are not used to visiting big countries and your detail video was really helpful and insightful. Sadly I can only visit Korea for a week so I'm choosing between Jeju or busan (aside from Seoul). Tough pick. On a side note , keep up the good work! You've earned a subscriber. Regards from Singapore!
Thanks so much!!! Oh and I want to travel to Singapore one day! Everyone I know who has been there absolutely loves it! I hope you enjoy your trip to Korea! let me know how it goes!!!
You should watch a horror movie come from South Korea. the title is train to busan. The movie about zombie attack in KTX train. It is the best zombie movie i've ever watch.
Sure! Unique Stay! It was halfway between a hostel and a hotel - and I loved it! Uniqstay Bed and Breakfast 59 Bujeon-ro, Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan, South Korea +82 51-808-5577 goo.gl/maps/uqUWDpCKsfB2
Natasha you are looking so good i like you i am from India and take a train for long distance is Busan to Lisbon (South Korea to Portugal) or you take from Busan to London and one thing natasha did you gone to transiberian railway from Beijing to Moscow of China to Russia and you see lake baikal in russia ok Natasha (i am Nayak) did you see the "train to Busan" movie and tell me the information of this movie
I really should see the Train to Busan movie! So many people have recommended it now! Also sadly I haven't gone on the Transiberian Railway but I would love to!!! I've seen so many pictures and they look amazing!!! Busan to Lisbon must be soooooo cool. I should really look into doing a super long journey one day!!!
Nice and for the KTX train it's based on TGV with the same signal system as the London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord and Brussels Midi line TVM-430. Mungunghwa trains are the ones with the red train wagons this is seen on Yeong Sang Ho's Train to Busan a South Korean zombie movie equivalent to your Shawn of the Dead and 28 weeks later movies both are British made zombie movies
Oh wow thanks for the info!!!! I thought the train felt the same as the Eurostar - so funny that it's so far away!!! Someone recommended the Train to Busan movie to me - maybe I should watch it! Thanks for the info again!!! :D
thisNatasha you should since it has either a 15 (MPAA R🇺🇸 rating) or 18 (MPAA NC-17🇺🇸) BFFC certificate in the UK. You should be able to see a Saemul train in that movie towards the end with the blue stripes
thisNatasha You speak fast. That's why I subbed. My listening tutor . You are well prepared before shooting.I have watched all Korean related videos and I will watch Japan...
According to rail.ninja/route/seoul-to-busan it depends on a number of things, including "the type of chosen travel class, the day of the week the train is departing, as well as on whether you're buying tickets in advance or last-minute.". The site says prices start at 60 USD. I hope this helps!
HELLO NATASHA HOW ARE YOU HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 SO YOU ARE REPLYING ME AND DID YOU SEE THE TRAIN TO BUSAN MOVIE THEN HOW DID YOU LIKE IT AND DID YOU GONE TO TRANSIBERIAN RAILWAY AND LAKE BAIKAL ALSO RUSSIA COUNTRY THEN YOU SAW THE TRAIN TO BUSAN BUT YOU GONE IN 2017 BUT I HAVE GONE TO PORTUGAL,SWITZERLAND,GERMANY,SPAIN AND AUSTRIA THAT IS IN EUROPE BUT YOU KNOW I HAVE TAKEN TRAIN IN PORTUGAL AND SWITZERLAND THAT IS AMAZING GREETINGS FROM INDIA ALSO ARE YOU FROM UK OR AUSTRALIA

Ha that's hilarious!!! I did not notice that at all! Ah ticket system makes sense. It was so smooth - a great trip!

I can confirm that the KTX are originally french and are based on the TGV (which btw can go up to 320 kmph), but they transferred the technology to South Korea and are now Korean made, but still look like the French.
Ah I see!!! Thanks for the fact! It was odd to be so far away but to feel like I was on a train similar to a Eurostar! Amazing. Thanks again!

you are extremely well informed. I was impressed throughout the clip watching this.
Japan has been operating high-speed trains since 1965, but there are not many accidents like in Korea.
