Makes me miss my dads 2005 Toyota Seqouia Limited that he got brand new when I was born. Took me home from the hospital in it, took me everywhere for 17 years of my life, so it had personal value big time. Finally got it as my first car back in August of 2022, and just enhanced the experience of driving it. Grew up in it, and was my first car ever. He kept up really well with it, had All Terrain Tires, and slight lift with no step boards, and was black. January 2005-December 2022 with 330,227 miles ❤ A vehicle always in my heart
What a Journey, that’s so cool to hear! Sounds like you had some awesome times with that Sequoia! It’s too bad it had to end, was it just finally worn out? i mean you can’t ask much more than 330K! i gotta know what you replaced it with?? 👍🏼
Same here man, my dad got it brand new in 2005, and I just got it from my uncle whom my dad sold it to. Now I am planning to upgrade it and hopefully keep it in good condition. It is still a beast.
I agree with your statement about the wiper throwing off the symmetry on the rear tailgate. However, I personally think it would look better if you added back the Toyota badge. Regardless, it looks great, the paint looks awesome. I just bought an 08 Sequoia a few weeks ago and it has made my Land Cruiser dreams somewhat of a reality ✌🏻
I picked up an 05’ with 130k miles. Limited 4x4, middle row captain seats, you name it. All original. Found the dealer sticker in glove box - listed for $54,500. Whoever owned it before took extremely good care of it, drives like new and absolutely everything works on it.
Such a gorgeous truck, just finished putting the catalytic shield guts on it, just cause they tried taking it. And just finished installing the viper 5305v remote start. This is my second sequoia, they are like loyal dogs! My baby needed an oil change too.
“They are like loyal dogs”… this is great, it’s so true.. when someone asks me how Sequoia ownership has been i say, i just put in gas and keep driving.. it’s been the most reliable, trouble free vehicle we have ever owned.. That’s awesome you put in the Cat shield, i did that also (i have a video on it).. such an excellent peace of mind.. 👍🏼
I am in the market to get my first family SUV and with the way the market is I don't want to pay bloated prices, which has forced me to look at older vehicles. I know the typical scene for these are overlanders/off roading, but my research has shown that these are one the most reliable and comfortable older SUV out there. I landed on the Sequoia and I'll be honest the aesthetics are still comparable to new vehicles today. Which says something about Toyotas designers 20 years ago. Just waiting for the right one to hit the market and buying it.
I can’t tell you how much i support your patience while waiting for the “right one” to come along, and it will. I’ll never understand why the 4runner, Tacoma, Tundra all held there values to well, and the first generation Sequoias never did. Every few weeks i see an incredible, low mileage, super clean Sequoia for sale at a great price.. it’s a good thing i don’t have more money and space cause i’d buy a bunch more if i could! lemme know when you get one.. 👍🏼
Looks Very Nice! The only thing you said that I'll take just a little different view is the engine version. I'm the orginal owner of my 2001 Sequoia. Purchased in June 2001. It doesn't have the variable timing which means it doesnt have quite as many horses, but it still provides me all the power and torque I need. I you break a timing belt on the variable timing version......you've just lost your engine - bent valves, or worse, broken pistons - the 2005-2007 is a true interference engine. I had a timing belt break at 75,000 miles at freeway speed after it had been replaced at 90,000 miles (165,000 total miles on my Sequoia) and the dealership told me my engine was totalled. I took it to my local mechanic and he shared with me that my earlier engine would be perfectly fine. He replaced the timing belt, water pump, etc. Engine was as good as new! I'm now at 210,000 miles on my 2001 and continues to be the best vehicle I've ever owned. Love the 1st Gen Sequoia. Never had an oil leak. The oil is still honey colored when I change it at 3500 - 5000 miles. I think it looks much better than the 2nd gen sequoia. Yours is a great looking vehicle - you did a very nice job! I'm just greatful that I didn't have the newer engine for an untimely timing belt failure or I would've been faced with a huge bill to rebuild the engine.
Pretty much my dream truck. I'd wrap the tails on the hatch side in the same color as the truck. I always thought that would look awsome. Like a large 4 runner. Super awsome man
Looks good bro! I saw you driving on Soquel a bit ago. I’ll flag you down next time. I’ve got 2 clean 1st gen’s, Built 07’ Sequoia and and an 06’ Tundra on 5100’s, both on 285’s. You need more videos!
My 2007 SR5 4WD has 93k on it so far as it’s my daily driver. I have the same issue on the hatch with the paint around the wiper. I use my wiper, but the wiper delete looks cool. Mine’s bone stock so far.
The housings or bulbs? the housing are actually the original units, i just clean them up about once a year.. NOTHING beats an oem headlight housing(i sound old saying that) but it’s true!
I’ll have to look at the paperwork, but we did a bunch of other stuff also, changed out the spark plugs and did the brakes too.. Im pretty sure the timing belt alone was about $800 bucks.. I really like our service department at Toyota of Santa Cruz.. they haven’t done us wrong yet.. but there sales department.. that’s a different story.. 👍🏼
I’m new to the sequoia. I just picked up an 04 with only 117k miles on it. I love the look of yours. Would you happen to have any information on some of the upgrades you have done?
It’s 5% on all the back glass(rear doors and back)and actually i’m running 35% on the driver and passenger side, not too dark, but definitely tinted.. no issues with the chp yet.. 🤞🏼
If you had to choose between this and the third gen 4Runner, what would you choose? I have a third gen 4Runner (260K miles) but I just test drove a 2007 Sequoia (under 200K miles). Trying to decide what to do. The only thing about the Sequoia.. it kept making a loud ticking sound as I pressed the accelerator during the test drive. I’m thinking a cracked manifold? Which vehicle do you think is the better choice?
The tires are K02’s size 285/70/17 and the wheels are Black Rhino (Roku) size 17x9.5.. I really like the combo but i’ve been thinking about upgrading to a new setup lately.. we’ll see.. 👍🏼
How did you get the hole bonded up. That would be a nice video. Did you pay to get it done?. I’m very interested and want to do this myself but don’t want to fuck it up lol.
I did pay to get it done.. there’s a really cool little auto body shop here in santa cruz that loves custom stuff.. they made it look super easy, made a filler plate and smoothed it clean.. we repainted the whole rear door. since the back is so clean, a lot of people don’t even know what kind of vehicle it is, until they see the badge on the front.. I really want to add a hood scoop from a tacoma or 4runner to the Sequoia hood, i think it would look really good.. this has REALLY been on my mind lately..
@@toyotafanatics1 I’ve also tried to find videos on a hood scoop for a sequoia. Nobody has done one yet. I think it would look amazing. And yeah thx for letting me know I’m removing my rear wiper this weekend and I’ll have a body shop fill it in for me.
Love the look. Seriously debated in selling my 04 sequoia SR5 4x4 for a 22 sequoia trd pro. But now im keeping it and want to upgrade something similar to yours. May i ask for a list of upgrades u did? Also did u keep the upper and lower arms or switch out. Also did u run into vsc traction control when u went larger on wheels and tires. Anything to watch out for as i upgrade?
I think keeping the 04 is a great idea. My wife drove the 2007 for years completely bone stock and then I took it when she got a new one. I immediately did Bilstein 6112 Coilovers, these are nice and beefy compared to just doing 5100’s like most do. New springs and Fox shocks on the back. Black Rhino Roku 17x9.5’s with 285/70/17 KO2’s. Powder coated new OEM upper and lower control arms and bushings. I went kinda crazy with the Audio/Alarm system also, Flowmaster exhaust which after a couple years i’m seriously considering removing the muffler this week and just keep the factory resonator, i’ve been wanting to try that for a while. Never ever had any issues with VSC, never.. but i had a brand new 2013 Tacoma with a 6 inch lift and 35’s and i sold it with 5K miles because i was having crippling VSC/ traction issues. i’ve been down that road.. i think that’s it.. lemme know how it goes
It just has a bilstein coilover lift, bout 3 inches.. The wheels are Black Rhino “Roku” 17x9.5, running BFG Ko2’s 285/70/17’s.. i’ve been thinking about changing it up lately, im always thinkin about maybe going a bit bigger with the rubber..
Sequoia is the best ! I’ve got two 05’s and an 07. Love what you’ve done. My 05, which i use for work traveling the east coast and southern states, has 310k on it and it runs great. The other 05 has 220 on it and the 07 (wife’s) has about 130k. Love me some Sequoia!
That’s awesome.. the only thing better than one first gen, is TWO first gen’s.. i’m always saying the 05-07’s are the best with the vvti, 5 speed trans and the beefier lower ball joints, definitely the one to have.. 👍🏼
damn this thing makes me envious . just need my father-in-laws house to sell so i can get mine done . the removal of the rear wiper is a nice touch . i would hide the woofers in the rear side panels tho. to get rid of the bulky box
Yep, all the way around.. actually the driver/passenger windows are a little lighter, the CHP don’t play around here about those front tints.. i’ve been lucky, but now that i said that.. 🤞🏼
Unfortunately it’s super dirty right now cause of the relentless rain and storms here, but once the sun comes back out imma clean her up good. More mods coming soon, stay tuned!! Thanks man! 👍🏼
The lift gate has ALWAYS been a little off, it bugs me. I always look at other first gen Sequoias and about 80% are off a little bit just like mine. You gotta start looking yourself when you see them around.. i don’t get it!
Superb modification there. So clean. When you get a chance, post a link to those wheels. Do likey. I have the 2007 Sequoia in the dark gray. Outstanding vehicle. Love your mods.
Living in So Cal you don't really need a rear wiper. Most of the time. Get a lot of rain and it does help especially with the road grime. Amazing how low the miles are. Great find. Mine has close to double that lol. Oh, I think my engine is cleaner than yours though. BTW, if you want to see a big improvement in performance, go with 12 hole fuel injectors from Dirt Deeds. Makes a huge difference.
I was just drooling over them on the website! and there made by Denso, doesn’t get any better than that.. damn, i didn’t even know they made these, im all over it! Thank you sir!! 👍🏼
It really wasn’t too bad, just some bilstein coilovers and black rhino wheels and bfg ko2’s. then you got the tint, lighting. And the rear hatch got shaved clean. probably 5K for all of that. It has a few more thousand in the stereo system which is definitely not necessary, but i do enjoy it daily! So 10K and your fully setup! Definitely not cheap, but not bad also! some people spend that much on there wheels now days. what a waste! You already have the most vital part, a 2007 Sequoia! that’s my favorite year!! 👍🏼
The front driver and passenger windows have 35%.. i wanted to go darker but the CHP don’t play around when it comes to tint around here.. Havnt had any issues yet🤞🏼, 35% is interesting, depending on the time of day, sometimes it looks like 5% and sometimes it looks like it’s not even tinted.. Everything behind the driver/passenger is 5%.. 👍🏼
I want to put a small lift and 33’s on our 2012 Sequoia, im just concerned the mpg’s will go from 13 to 11.. or worse!! i’ll probably still do it though 👍🏼

Absolute phenomenal job
What % tint do you have on this?
The front driver and passenger windows have 35%.. i wanted to go darker but the CHP don’t play around when it comes to tint around here.. Havnt had any issues yet🤞🏼, 35% is interesting, depending on the time of day, sometimes it looks like 5% and sometimes it looks like it’s not even tinted.. Everything behind the driver/passenger is 5%.. 👍🏼
@@toyotafanatics1 thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking of putting on my Sequoia.
Yes, the cleanest
Well thank you very much.. 👍🏼

I want to put a small lift and 33’s on our 2012 Sequoia, im just concerned the mpg’s will go from 13 to 11.. or worse!! i’ll probably still do it though 👍🏼
When’s the new Tundra comin?
Cleanest one
How my Beer. I'm from Southern California my 06 original owner 4WD had something to say about this
She's almost done. You still need a matte black bull bar (skid plate cut off) and yellow lensed fog lights. 😁
Very clean....personally, I would have gone with a stealth sub box.
Yeah, that thing is not only gigantic but heavy too.. but lemme tell ya, it thumps!! 👍🏼
It’s 4x4?
Beautiful vehicle
Thanks!! 👍🏼
Clear or dark taillights and yellow fogs is what I would add
You need the red rock interior
That would look soooo good! 👍🏼
WOW THAT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER THAT TRUCK IS CLEAN I THINK YOUR WIFE IS GOING TO WANT IT BACK 😂😂LOVE YOUR CHANEL 💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋♂️
Super jealous homie. Waiting for you to show how you did it
