"THERE WASN'T REALLY MUCH CONTROVERSY OR CRITICISM ABOUT HAVING HIM AS THE HERO FROM WITHIN SQUARE, BUT HE IS DEFINITELY A MYSTERIOUS CHARACTER. THAT'S ONE OF THE GAME'S MAIN THEMES, THE FACT THAT THE PROTAGONIST HAS ALL THESE SECRETS TO UNRAVEL. HE ISN'T A STRAIGHTFORWARD HERO LIKE SUPERMAN; RATHER, HE HAS MANY MYSTERIES, SELF-DOUBTS, AND A REAL DARK SIDE." -Yoshinori Kitase, Electronic Gaming Monthly, October 2005[4]
God it makes me cry every single time. If ever there was one piece of music that can do that to me, it’s this one. Makes me feel so nostalgic. What a beautiful, beautiful gift of music.
I imagine myself wide-eyed, in amazement , sailing down a stream into a mystical new world of things unimaginable. The joy , the innocence, and the magic evolving into its mature nature.
I love how the theme soars up high when he is happy and drag him down like heavy rained clouds. It's actually very beautiful. As usual FF music is just amazing.
Not to be corny but I live in Chicago, and for me to got work I have to take a train that goes from the south side that eventually leads to the city's sub level, and then the easiest way to get to work is to go through the sub levels until you get to the bridges. Chicago is a beautiful city, despite it's corruption and negative reputation. There is a certain under-plate vibe to certain parts of the city. Kinda actually feels amazing to walk the city with this song playing, especially at night.
Some part of his theme does remind me of Tifa's, especially the coming home atmosphere. They are young people who have been suffering a lot so it's safe to say that both may search for the warmth of home or somewhere they can belong to with their beloved people. While Cloud's theme is kind of chaotic with many intense parts suddenly appear , Tifa's theme sounds more safe and sound along with the mature and calmness she possesses which explain their characters during the game very well. I personally can't wait to see what Square will do with all the soundtracks in part 3. I really hope to hear a well-arranged and emotional one like what they did with the Aerith x Jenova in Rebirth.
I appreciate how this theme definitely doesn't suit Advent Children Cloud (because they wrote him poorly). And it certainly doesn't suit "I am a SOLDIER bad-ass" Cloud that his fractured memories convince him he is. This is 'the real Cloud's' theme. Something wide-eyed, hopeful. Someone young and impressionable, trying to become a hero from his childhood stories. Just like Cloud in Crisis Core. It's a beautiful theme fora character's beautiful inner journey.
Wrote him poorly? How? He was a broken man with an incurable disease who hid himself so he could die alone (similar to wolves). He was alone and left with only the pain in his life because it was difficult for him to have hope or to see the beauty in life. It's melancholic to reflect the character, but eventually hopeful because although he is suffering, he will fight to protect that which he cherishes.
Advent Children would have been a much less interesting movie if they hadn't given Cloud the "finding strength to fight again" character arc. I do think they went a little overboard with the angst though.
Yo esta canción la conozco como el tema del mapa del mundo, es lo primero que escuchas en cuanto sales de la ciudad de Midgar y lo digo con conocimiento de causa porque me he pasado un montón de veces éste videojuego.
Perhaps it’s buried in the comments but couldn’t find it: any fellow FF7 fans know the actual source/orchestra for this version? It’s by far the best I’ve heard; had it burned on an old CD lost long ago and found it hidden in plain sight here after many close calls by other orchestras on other UA-cam pages. The climax of this is one of the most beautiful, hopeful, inspiring and soaring renditions of any great game or film score out there. Great to see so many others find it here. See you in the clouds everyone!
That song is beautiful I’ll hear it when Jesus Christ returns.... Dieses Lied ist wunderschön ich höre es mir an wen Jesus wieder kommt wenn die Entrückung stattfinden tut 👍🏻😁
I agree, that being said, this theme does play during Cloud's big character moments like in the lifestream in FF7, so while the track is officially called "Main theme of FF7" it is synonymous with Cloud in the game.
@@leem7827 i think the theme at the end of "advent children" movie is cloud's theme. Uematsu Nobuo has confirmed that ff7's theme is not cloud's theme.

@@goodwillhumping7331 it’s really not, it’s a spiritual journey and a motif of the best kind. If music was a picture.
Absolutely. I’m crying right now and Idky..
This song makes me cry. I get very emotional with it. I love Cloud.
Same.
Cloud is the best character
Same. Everytime I think about my boi, Cloud's trauma and uplifting moments he had went through from beginning to end, it always teared me up😭
In FFVII, a person's song is their soul, their connection to the Lifestream. Their part of the music.
This is one of the most beautiful songs literally made ever.
I sense we will hear the girst time in FVII remake part 3 when he will find himself.
3:46 when he takes off the mask to reveal his true self, literally and figuratively
Imagine after Cloud gets his memories back, 3:15 plays with the game’s text saying
*Cloud has rejoined the party*
