I just set this up on my 2660NEX and it's quite flaky (freezes every time I ask for map directions) and having to touch the screen every time mostly defeats the purpose of having conversations with Alexa. I was really hoping it'd operate hands-free. Nice tutorial, anyhow. 👍
For anybody wondering: Google assistant from Android Auto works in hands free mode.
For turn by turn navigation instruction, I recommend to use Android Auto with Waze or with Google Maps. If you're an iPhone user, I recommend to use Apple CarPlay with Waze or Apple Maps for navigation. As mentioned in the video above, the lightning cable plugs into the in-dash receiver through USB. The USB port on the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX is on the back of the in-dash receiver. This feature is a joke. It could have been so much more.
I just had the Pioneer 2660NEX installed in my car. I bought it primarily because of the Alexa feature. But it is not hands free as another poster mentioned. What’s worse, it is an entirely separate function from CarPlay or android auto. Not only do you have to download two apps and create logins and have them up and running on your phone, you have to decide to use the WebLink connection instead of Apple CarPlay. That is a non starter. I need the screen to navigate and to have Google maps and Spotify up. It should not be this difficult to integrate Alexa into CarPlay/Android Auto and allow Alexa to control all those apps like Spotify and Google maps and Waze.

Please note, as of 2021 November, hands free Amazon Alexa, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Google's wireless Android Auto all work on the receivers listed above. However, all three of these systems are stand alone and do not integrate with one another. For example: you can choose to use Alexa, or CarPlay, or Android Auto. One at a time. You can freely move between them, but only one is operating on the receiver at any given time. Also please note, as of 2021 November, Amazon owns Alexa, and neither Google nor Apple are particularly interested in working with Amazon. Google owns Android Auto, and is not particularly interested in working with Alexa or CarPlay. And of course, Apple owns CarPlay, and is not particularly interested in working with Alexa or Android Auto.

@@pioneerelectronics Thank you for clearing that up. It’s a shame the 3 mega corporations cannot play nice for the benefit of the end user. I still love the 2660NEX; CarPlay works great on it even without being able to use Alexa.

@@pioneerelectronics Also this thing will only read FAT32.....it will not read exFAT....what the heck??? I thought Pioneer was supposed to be the best. I just bought a flash drive this is only exFAT so now I have to buy another. Ridiculous
Great news. As of 2021 July, no firmware updates have been issued for the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX. There is no downloads tab on the website because no downloads are available for this product. The DMH-2660NEX will work with Pioneer Vozsis with Alexa using Weblink Host with your iPhone as is. The Pioneer DMH-2660NEX will read USB flash drives formatted as NTFS, or FAT32, or FAT16. Many flash drives are formatted by the manufacturer as FAT32 right out of the box. I recommend to use a computer to format your USB flash drive as NTFS for use on with the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX.
