- Home: Surrounded by settlements, the Palestinians of Sheikh Jarrah like Muna al-Kurd are targeted by demolitions and evictions. For some in East Jerusalem, building a future has become an act of resistance.

Muna al-Kurd has been forced to share half of her house with Israeli settlers since 2009. Her dream is to become a journalist to expose the injustice: 'I wake up three hours before my class starts just to arrive on time. Because there is chaos and checkpoints on the roads. I decided to study media because I love to work with cameras. That's how my voice and the voice of my people can reach the world.' Beside evictions and demolitions, a big problem for residents of Sheikh Jarrah is the constant denial of planning permissions by the government. Hanni Issawi, director of a local committee, says: 'We have no empty places or room to build new buildings for a new generation, so it is very difficult to keep living a normal life. We are surrounded from all sides. We are like an island in this area.' For some like Omar Abdelqader, however, the occupation has become too much. He plans to move to Jaffa to seek a better life: 'Sometimes we take too much pride in being able to withstand pain and suffering. Maybe in that sense I feel like it's a little bit like running away from Jerusalem, but I'm a human being.'
It seems that building a future in East Jerusalem has become an act of resistance.

Well if you work for many media organizations or in the ME, it would be the Palestinians & Hamsa your not allowed to criticize. I all western countries it is Israel that gets easily criticized, very little of Palestinians, even the ones directly & strongly supporting more violence because they support or vote for Hamas, who is strongly committed to more violence.

I don’t get how a grown man can kill a child. My unit came across a couple executed children in Baghdad. Like under 10 young. I just understand why humans are this way towards one another. I have sympathy for the truly innocent Palestinians because they do not support Hamas or rocket terrorist attacks deliberately targetting civilians (at least Israel targets militants). Or Israelis who aren't far right.
BUT not for the very Palestinians that cause Israel to have no other way to defend other than striking back or controlling more tightly, because they vote for or supprt Hamas, because they have no intention for peace. they recently started this all (as far as I know) by heavily increasing rocket attacks in order to gain more support in the upcoming Palestinian elections.
So if your Palestinian & you support or vote for Hamas, your highly responsible for the war that predictably brings, and you deserve it. Stop blaming others for the violence you support. Not all Palestinians & Israelis support it. Can anyone give a practical alternative defense solution?? No, you can't. "israelis should all lie down and die for out of love of the people that hate them" is not one.

Doesn't someone who supports Hamas deserve the violence they create? I'm not referring to the innocent people who don't support rocket attacks against Israel to destroy israel or gain support. As far AS i KNOW, this situation started because Hamas used rocket attacks (& thus response) to gain support in upcoming elections.
And Israel has upcoming elections too, and that is factored into their response as well.

It is not genocide, they are not targeting civilians deliberately and not based on race or ethnicity. It is self-defense (though I mainly blame far right Israelis & Palestinians supporting Hamas). Palestinians who support Hamas totally deserve the rockets they get, but innocent people do not.
Please, if your going to criticize anyone, always give a better alternative solution to the problem.

The story is incomplete without also speaking with the Israelis. Hamas can burst into any innocent Palestinian house and demand to stay, close to a border, from where they begin to tunnel. Innocent Palestinians everywhere but they must bow to the PLA or whatever it calls itself these days. I have the Israeli side of the story from a backpacker lad who'd just finished his 2 year in the army (18-20) and was on his big tour, came to Australia for some farm work and stayed with me for a month. Nice lad, brilliant chess player. But the Palestinians tunnel, and terrify their own people. They tunnel from the border houses for kilometres and pop up in the centre of some kibbutz, firing and killing unsuspecting farming Israelis. Rarely a moment there is not a battle somewhere.

Very nicely done. The man who is moving to Jaffa is finally getting it. Move forward in your life. He cannot change the foolish, murderous acts of other Palestinians who have caused all of this harsh crack down and suffering, but he can choose to not participate and he can make his own life better. He said the magic word: assimilate.
My heart goes out to the donkeyman. I like him! He is stuck in between worlds, eras, and cultures. He is not bitter. But I also hope he chooses to move forward and assimilate into modern Israeli society so that his children can have that better future.
None of these people seem to be choosing violence and terror as a way to fight back. Finally! Maybe the cycle can begin to be broken and real progress can be made.
I like that the donkey man is not bitter too and is making a honest living that is also meeting the needs of others. I am sure he spreads joy 😊 also where ever he goes on his ❤ loved donkey. Blood Brothers is a really good book that shows how one family reacted with love and forgiveness when they had their home taken in Palestine when the takeover first started.

In the UK, some 10 years ago, the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, decided to build a shed in his garden in London. But he didn't get a permit. So the City of London in which he was the mayor of came and took it off the property and fined him. It was pretty embarrassing for him. If you build without a permit or planning permission, it will be taken from you. If its a permanent structure like concrete, it becomes part of the ground by law. So yes, the ground will be taken from you. This is not anything new or unique.

'A'Asha reported: "A person divorced his wife by three pronouncements; then another person will marry her and he also divorced her without having sexual intercourse with her. Then the first husband of her intended to remarry her. It was about such a case that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was asked, whereupon he said: No, until the second one has tasted her sweetness as the first one had tasted"(This means For Getting Back to the First Husband the wife has to have sex with the second man then she will be able to return otherwise not )
