- OK, I am stepping away from my theme of posting the team horn alone, and instead posting the team song! Here you go Whalers fans, you deserve a better recording of the famous Brass Bonanza than what everyone else on UA-cam has posted. Enjoy!
On a side note, this song was also the goal song for the New England Whalers sans the horn.
Oh yes, Credit for this song goes to the composer, Jacques Ysaye, who is more commonly known by his pseudonym: Jack Say. Jacques, you rock!

29 years ago I went with my father to see the Whalers play an exhibition game against the Soviet Union hockey team. I wasn't really too thrilled because I would have rather seen Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers clash. Before the fall of Communist Russia the Soviets were considered the unbeatable team and stories of steroids use were rampant.
Three periods of intense combat led to a 0-0 score. In double overtime the Whalers pulled their goalie and Captain Ron Francis intercepted a pass from wingman Torrie Robertson. On the breakaway Francis faked out the Soviet team goalie and scored the only goal in the game. A 1-0 victory for the whalers and the crowd roared so loud the whole building seemed to shake!
I'll never forget it. Thanks Dad!

I wasn't asking you - I was telling you ; )` Great story either way, but in my mind Francis, Robertson and any other of "The Whale" who were on the ice at the time celebrated that goal to Brass Bonanza! At this very moment two of my sons are in the other room playing NHL 14 on PS3. They are cranking and / or singing this tune each time they score a goal. Priceless!

Took me years to see how good a logo it really was. A work of art like no other in todays NHL. The logo gets the city, the team, the name the action.
old school logos looked cheesy in the 80s but by the 90s they were so ingrained and now they shine above some of the modern logos. Simplicity, elegance, and identity

I'm not from New England and I was still young when the Whalers left Hartford but for some reason every time I think about them I get really sad. Just feels like hockey belongs more in CT than it does in Carolina...

I was at the final game. I was in high school then. It's nice to hear the old theme song once in a while. It's been 17 years and I still miss em. I routed for Ron Francis and Carolina when they won the Cup, but mainly because it was Ron Francis. Winnipeg is back. Let's hope that the NHL can find a way to support more smaller market teams again.

Don't believe Francis was on the Cup winning team in 2006 or the coach or the GM. That was Brind Amour (C), and Laviolette, and Rutherford. Francis made the playoffs in 2002 but not the Cup. I believe Glen Wesley was the only Whaler left on that team in 2006.

Here’s my story on how I discovered this song: I was listening to urinating tree’s canes man clips and I noticed the song in the background. Eventually I looked up some stuff and I clicked on a video showing brass bonanza and I found what I was looking for. From that day, I became hooked, with brass bonanza becoming my new obsession. I loved it so much that I got a whalers shirt on Amazon just because of it. 2-3 months later, and it’s still my obsession. Thanks for uploading!

It felt like a horrible divorce or the death of a loved one to the long time fans. The players were part of the community and you don't see that much these days.
