Much love to Quest,LB and SV. Got to be honest though ..as an old head who was a day 1 fan of SV... Kind of tough to hear an interview with them and their history without Dilla, Baatin, or Elzhi. I know life is life and there are many groups that had changes or passing ons and things of that nature ... I guess it's just the woes of being day one fans of certain groups 🤷🏽♂️... But either way salute to all involved and great interview. RiP Jay Dilla, and Baatin.
"I'm Errol Flynn and out in Berlin countin' bundles of Cho" So that's what my man was talking about. Hearing SV for the first time still might be the greatest high I ever felt in Hip Hop. I absolutely love these guys. I wish Jay + Baatin were still here....
Always wanted to hear the real story about why Elzhi left the group, and what happened to his verses that got cut from Villa Manifesto… hopefully someday. Also, I was always under the impression that Fat Ray was part of BR Gunna? Or maybe he was just a close collaborator… Shoutsout to the whole Detroit scene and the Dilla diaspora
It's funny because word was Dilla, Baatin and Elzhi all had issues with RJ's dad at different points of their Slum Village tenure(Elzhi explained it in an interview years ago)and that probably explains why it's T3/Young RJ at this point
From my understanding, eLZhi got fired for hiring a new manager when the contracts were renewed under the new label. Conflict of interest, I suppose. That info came out of XXL before the story was changed to him just quitting the group.
@@kamiioo3289 yeah I vaguely remember that… but I definitely remember El saying he recorded verses for every song on the album, and like half of them were cut. I need those bars from the syllable sensei!
Some champion players in the music game just chilling for a couple hrs, sharing stories and goofing off... Thanks for sharing! That was a ton of fun- looking forward to seeing you in The Bay.
Conant Gardens! Mojo was playing the Sign O The Times album before it was released and its probably why he got fired. He got fired around March 7th 1987 and the album dropped 3 weeks later. Mojo came back on the air on another station in 1990
