The fact that we lost the two best Thomas is absolutely heart breaking. They will always live on in our hearts
We loved them, we praised them, and we do keep them dear in our hearts today. It’s a shame that they had to go, but we’ll never forget about them or the day that they passed. 😞😔😭
Ikr
2008 was a shit year to be a Thomas fan. David Mitton dies, George Carlin dies & the show was considered to be dead for 4 years
So Ringo star is the best Thomas narrative whos not dead?
Sussy imposter I think red vented 😄🤣😂
George Carlin will always be my favorite. Especially being older now and knowing how much he actually loved doing the show, because it didn't talk down to kids, i always thought every other narrators we're trying to talk down to kids.
I love Carlin. No narrators are bad but George is best
I love Michael Angelis the most
Same he's the beat Narrator
@@DodotheNickelodeonFanboy ehhh I mean michael Brandon…
He’s kinda bad imo
R.I.P. Micheal Angeles and George Carlin, you guys nailed Thomas and you will always be remembered by fans who grew up listening to you two’s voices and all you did for us.
I agree completely
We'll miss Michael and George you will always be in our hearts.
@@night2fransic really
I agree. R.I.P Michael Angelis and George Carlin
I hope it’s still alive at Easter 2024
I’m not surprised that MA got the number 1 spot. The man was very good at narrating the Thomas stories. My personal favorite will always be George Carlin, given his wide variety of character voices
George Carlin is my favorite too
pierce's narration in the exciting/mysterious/energetic parts of the great discovery puts me on the edge of my seat half the time.
7:50-8:12 That right there, ladies and gentlemen, is how to sing a Thomas & Friends song. Eat your heart out, Joseph May.
That was John Hasler, though.
It makes me cry and gives me goosebumps especially when I sing along
I never want to hear Joseph May’s singing voice the more I hear about it. I’m not even curious enough to listen to a 2 second clip of it I just want to avoid it all together. Considering he’s not even my favorite Thomas voice
Brandon made Oliver sound too southern. That’s the word I’d use.
It’s like he heard he was a Great WESTERN and used the American idea of how a Westerner sounds.
@@redstreak9430 That's what I said in my mind when he said that lol!
Yeah
That's literally the same thought I had when listening to it
@@redstreak9430I think he was probably going for the idea that Oliver should sound like a cowboy because of his daring escape from the other railway
@Thomasfan261 you are 100% correct in stating how crucial Michael Angelis was to the Thomas franchise. In doing so he made every single Thomas fan feel happy and safe, his death created a huge hole in the fandom that can never be fixed.
@Thomasfan261 like @TwinHat said to me keep the spirt of Thomas alive
@Nik Pirouz AMEN TOO THAT!!
@Nik Pirouz :)
God bless George Carlin and Michael Angelis May they Rest In Peace
14:37 onwards actually made me tear up. It is such a shame we lost Angelis last year. Same with George Carlin. R.I.P
Brosnan gave Great Discovery a kind of gravitas and heavier feeling when I first saw it as a kid, I had no idea who he was or that I was listening to James Bond himself, but even then he made it feel cinematic.
Michael is easily the favourite in my list. His voice helped me with my speech and he helped me speak from a young age. I can listen to his narration all day. I find his narration moving and fascinating. Knowing that's its coming up to being a year since he's passed makes me quite emotional.
brandon or angelis?
@@SethsterFilms Angelis.
@@Quinnifer oh ok sorry i missed the last part about him passing so i didn't know which one you meant
At least George Carlin came in second. And Michael Angelis is the only one I know who was so devoted to Thomas the Tank Engine. So I can understand why he's at the top for some people.
You are right, Angelis is the best. He cared about Thomas more than anyone else.
Dedication
Exactly
Unlike Starr and Baldwin who only did 2 Seasons
I respect your opinion.
I still like ringo more
My Ranking:
9) Joseph May
8) John Hasler
7) Pierce Brosnan
6) Alec Baldwin
5) Michael Brandon
4) Mark Moraghan
3) George Carlin
2) Ringo Starr
1) Michael Angelis
This is fax.
I loved Michael Angelis so much as a kid.
I’ve always thought that he was so loyal to the Thomas and Friends franchise.
I can agree, his death shocked me to the point I cried a bit. But I know that deep down, he has done so many memorable things and that being is being a narrator, not just for a kid show, but also for adults including himself.
14:44 17:21
Oh hey it’s holly Clarke! I love ur vids!
Michael Angelis's passing last year is one of the only times I got chocked up at a celebrity death. His voice always sounded so warming and inviting and it's something I can never unhear. The fact that he stuck as the narrator for so long speaks major volumes. May he rest peacefully.
That was the worst part of 2020 for me, sure I may have heard Ringo and George the most, I was devastated
Ringo and George were the voices of my childhood and the narrators that stick with me.
Oh my god Sean, hitting us right in the feels with that ending, but I agree Angelis is THE best narrator for Thomas 😭❤️
14:44 17:21
I keep switching between carlin and angelis but I do think angelis is the best!
Personally, I'm one who's grown up and has been the most familiar with was Ringo Starr. Even if he was kinda monotone in the first season in the uk, I still love him as a narrator regardless. As for George Carlin and Michael Angelis, recently I've grown to love them just as much as Ringo. Same goes S5 Baldwin. They're not my number one favorite narrators, I'm still a Ringo guy, but what those other 3 have brought to the table were really good. Shame that George and Angelis died, I would've love to hear more about their experiences with the show behind the scenes.
Nothing to say about, John, Joseph and Brandon?
To me, Michael Angelis will always be my narrator.
Him and Ringo are who I grew up with, but I remember watching Angelis’ series a lot more. Especially with how much he did for the series.
His voice will always have a place in my heart, and I’m so glad he could’ve been a part of my childhood.
He’s one of the few celebs who’s death I’ve cried over, and until the day I die (I’m only 17, so it’ll be a VERY long time) he’ll always be my narrator.
He’s definitely who I’m eventually going to show my kids to, when I watch Thomas either them when they grow up, so his legacy can always be apart of my family.
Though Baldwin is my favorite (forgetting that season 6 exists), I respect your opinion and reasonings.
I grew up with the American dub, but after watching the U.K. dubs recently I have a lot of respect for Ringo and Angeles
Angeles especially, I have even more respect for after watching this video.
May him and George, rest forever in peace
9:00
Not Season 6 The US dub of Season 6
My opinion is ringo is my favourite cause I can fall asleep to his narration
That’s usually a sign of him being boring..
I think it means he’s calming, not boring.
Bakerboi Katz your right that’s what I mean
Leaderofthetracks have you ever seen the first two seasons of Thomas in uk narration
@@duckthegreatwesternengine4340 Yes, and it’s really good.
The fact that Ringo actually narrated on Thomas is actually absurd to me
The way I would describe Brandon's Oliver voice at 3:07 is "too blatantly American".
Michael Brandon probably heard the words "Great Western" and assumed that Oliver would have an exaggerated western accent, so he did just that.
I sadly never did get to appreciate Angelis in his prime. Hearing about just HOW dedicated to this he was, I feel I lost an uncle I never got to meet :(
You made some really good points about each narrator you covered. I honestly loved every second of it and I did get quite emotional when you started to speak about Michael Angelis.
Michael Angeles was my favourite narrator and when I heard he sadly passed away back last year, I was so upset and in tears and this video reminded me about it. I honestly think you are good at reviewing these sorts of things and I completely understand how passionate you are about all this. You are such an amazing person and a true Thomas fan. Well done and keep up the good work.
Kind Regards
Percy Rebecca
In my opinion, Micheal Brandon and George Carlin are my favorite narrators. They really made Thomas entertaining for me when I first watched the show.
finally a brandon fan! gosh i was just gonna start losing it with this poor ass fandom
@@jaredfranco10 im one too
@@buddtubeyt7536I'm a Brandon fan as well I think people's views of him are just tented by the fact most of his tenure was made up by the HiT and Miller eras In Season 7 he actually sounds quite good
Not to mention, in James Goes Buzz Buzz, George Carlin did amazing for James’ big “EEEEEEE!!” Enough energy that I was scared of it after the first time I watched it as a little boy. I guess it was too sudden for me to handle it. Now, I think it’s the best part of the episode.
Same here
I grew up with Angelis narrations and even when a special was bad his narration makes it less painful to sit through, he’ll be dearly missed
Michael Angelis will always be my number one favourite narrator.
I don't blame you Jonathon, because Michael Angelis will always be my favorite narrator of the show not to mention he was my childhood narrator alongside Ringo Starr & Michael Brandon.
@@victorgaminglounge3967 Mine was George Carlin.
Rest in Peace Michael Angelis.
@@davinsmith7543 RIP 😢

Fun Fact: Gwyneth Paltrow was considered as a narrator for The Great Discovery. Good thing that never fell through.
How do you know that?
Why's it a good thing that never happened
Wow, this is the first video I’ve ever seen of yours and what a great impression it was. It’s such a great time to be a Thomas fan; there’s so much amazing content being made all the time these days. I remember back in the early 2010s when there couldn’t have been more than 20 actually noteworthy content creators doing Thomas stuff - this community has come such a long way.
But I digress. This was a beautiful video and your monologue about Michael Angelis really made me feel the quiet sorrow in your heart for his passing, despite having always grown up with the US narrations myself. What a great concept for a video, and very well-executed too.
I cried at the last part, Rest In Peace Micheal Angelis, you will always be in our hearts.
Thanks for the nostalgia, this was a great list and it’s very well structured.
I heard a little bit of energy in Alec’s voice for Mavis in Buffer Bother when Bill blew quarry dust at her and “ran into a ditch”. Also, he had some energy in his voice for Diesel in The World’s Strongest Engine when he flew over the dock. This was reused for Duncan in Dunkin’ Duncan when he flew into a swamp. Not to mention his energy for Duck in Twin Trouble when he shouted at Donald to look out before HE “ran into a ditch”.
Yes but the vast majority of Alec Baldwin's narration in Season 6 wasn't like that unfortunately
My fav is George Carlin but man you had me at your last line and nearly shed a tear when Angelis’ narration of All at Sea was played. Man we’re all gonna miss Angelis so much.
George Carlin is my most personal and preferred favorite narrator from Thomas. He delivers his narration like a Grandfather telling you an exciting story. I've always loved his narration since I first saw "Gordon Takes a Dip"
RIP George Carlin 🙏
He’s the one I have the best memories listening to growing up
The reason that Carlin is the best is because there's lots of edits of his comedy inserted into _Thomas_ that make it hilarious
Michael Brandon is always gonna be my favorite Narrator and it reminds me of the old times and I grew up w MB
I'm just glad that Ringo, George, and Michael are in the Top 3 spots for Thomas Narrators. That's enough of a good reason for me.
I often come back to this video, it's one that perfectly captures my exact thoughts and opinions on Michael Angelis.
Angelis was a dedicated, hard-working and incredible narrator. He was my first narrator I'd ever heard of Thomas and friends. He stood with Thomas through the good, the bad, and always gave it his all. His tone in his voice throughout his stories, and the voice he has given to so many characters really shows that he was so passionate about the series. All he has done for the franchise is so impactful, and honestly it is why he remains my number one favourite Thomas narrator.
I nearly cried at the end, thanks for this video, and I mostly agree with your choices.
#MichaelAngelis is a #ThomasAndFriends narrating God.👼
Rest In Peace🙏 Michael Angelis

This warmed my heart and by the way it was so nostalgic… it was so beautiful
Maybe it's because I grew up in the States, but I had never heard of Michael Angelis's work for Thomas before this video (I grew up with Ringo Star and George Carlin as my top go-to narrators), but after looking into it, I see why he is held in such high regard by both you and many others.
The fact that in this year i am starting to love even more thomas, and now what is bad and what is good, makes me feel old, i liked thomas since i was like 8 years old, and now i am 13 years old...
I grew up during the HIT era in the US, so Micheal Brandon will always be my fave
same here
Michael Angelis was awesome. I gotta say George Carlin to me is the best. I don’t know he brought a different energy for me and I felt he gave a lot of characters such life. Especially James, Gordon, The Scottish Twins, Duncan, and so many more.
You took the words out of my mouth when talking about Michael Angelis at the end. He will always in my opinion be the greatest narrator of Thomas. RIP Michael.
R.I.P Michael Angelis (my favourite narrator)
I don’t think that Micheal Brandon is a bad narrator he just has some bad voices but I am nostalgic for him since grew up with series 9.
My thoughts too but I started with series 8
I agree
Here's my rankings for all narrators from Seasons 1-12 from best to worst.
#1 Michael Angelis (Yes his narration declined by Season 8 but his classic series narration really is at it's best and I love listening to his voice)
#2 George Carlin (My favorite narrator as a kid and I get so nostalgic whenever I hear his narrations)
#3 Ringo Starr (His narration in Season 1 wasn't as good as Season 2 but it was his first time narrating it to be fair and his narration in Season 2 is extremely well made)
#4 Alec Baldwin (I'm nostalgic for his Season 5 narration but his Season 6 narration is just abysmal.)
#5 Pierce Brosnan (He has a soothing narration voice but the voices he gives for the characters in The Great Discovery particularly Thomas and Percy just sound kind of whiny.)
#6 Michael Brandon (Hands down my least Thomas narrator ever. Even as a kid I thought his voice was off. In particular the voices he give for Skarloey and Rheneas just sound godawful and he can't even give an consistant voice for much of the characters like Henry, Freddie, Hector etc. He gave Henry a southern accent in Season 11 and changed his old sounding voice for Freddie in Season 10 to a more stupid sounding voice in Season 11 and Hector who actually had a decent voice in Season 11 was given a racist sounding Mexican accent in Season 12. His narration is at it's worse in Season 12 and sounds much more annoying than before.)
@Stinky Face I respect your opinion
As if you hadn't told us who your favourite was in every video
I'm still gonna watch this though lol
lol
I've tried all I can to find interviews where the late Michael Angelis (R.I.P.) is talking about his time on the show but I can never find anything of the sort it's almost as if he wanted to keep his time on Thomas private 😞
It's probably worth pointing out that Ringo had no narration experience, and that even he thought it was a daft idea, and yet the combination of the animation and his voice is still great enough that people liked it enough and remember it to this day, andif people hadn't gotten on board with the series during the first two seasons, it might not have continued after that, or still be running now. ... Oh ... and he's bloody RINGO! LOL
Personally I'd love to see a cut of seasons 1 and 2 with Ringo doing the narration and George doing the voices.
Thomasfan261 I thank you for your inspirational video and yes I hope that one day when I become the Narrator for Thomas and Friends your tips on being that Narrator for the show and feature length specials will help me improve my voice and vocal range and especially my career thank you
Great ending, love your videos.
Personally Brosnan's bedtime story style narration work's for me. It's quite relaxing to listen to and at the same time it doesn't put me to sleep when I listen to it. But I can understand if you don't like him.
The fact that George Carlin did a redub of Thomas with swearing is the reason he is my number one 😂😂
Ok when you talk about Michael angelis i tear up it was just heart warming and remeber Michael angelis never give up and rest in peace michael angelis We Will never forget you
I do like Brandon's narration. Like you mentioned, I grew up with his narration. I do like him because he does give energy. With Baldwin, his Season 5 narration is great because Season 5 is almost perfect and he gives a lot of energy for the episodes. I will still watch his Season 6 narrations just because I grew up with them, and I still think he does good in some episodes, like the two Jack and the Pack episodes
I definitely agree with your picks, but honestly, for me, it would be a tie between Alec Baldwin (Season 5), Michael Angelis (Season 3), and George Carlin (all of the seasons)
The only three character that love how Michael Brandon narrate was Diesel, Donald and Douglas.
Yes now Donald and Douglas were the only voices he nailed right. He was also okay as Hector.
@@RingoandCarlinI also kind of like his Spencer voice
@@RingoandCarlinHector from Season 11 or 12?

Michael Angelis will always be my favorite Narator 😔. Here is my own voice cast.
Michael Angelis as the Narator.
1. Eddie Glen as Thomas
2. Keith Wickham as Edward, Henry & Gordon
3. Rob Rackstraw as James
4. Christopher Ragland as Percy
5. Ben Small as Toby
6. Teresa Gallagher as Emily
Nearly cried at the Angelis part. Sobbed so hard the night I found out he passed away💔

Michael and Ringo were my childhood, RIP Michael and thank you for the memories.
Saving my 4 and ONLY favourite narrators for the top. Nice 👍
I litterally can’t choose between Ringo Starr, Michael Angelis and George Carlin. All three of them are perfect to me in different ways. Ringo has the most soothing voice, Angelis is the most enthusiastic and Carlin is the funniest with his different voices.
Michael Angelis and Ringo will always be the best narrators i still can’t get my head around why the American dub changed them
i have massive respect for mr angelis. He showed that has long you can stay where you Have fun there. Stay there till it lets you go. That's exactly how many people should treat things they like. ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTES. Rest in peace mr angelis you won't be forgot
Michael Brandan was one of my favorite narrator’s in the Thomas series because I was used to hearing his voice and was the best one in my opinion
My Favorites were George & Ringo I did watch till about season 6 but my best memories of Thomas & STS came from them everytime I go back I feel like a kid again without a care in the world but much love and respect to Angelis I didn't grow up on him but he stayed the longest and he loved what he did rip sir.
I'm from the USA and I never heard Michael Angelis for the first time until I was an adult, but I fell in love with his narration right away.
This guy is the most satirical and funny thomas fandom UA-camr, but in the last part he was actually serious. And I love that. Rest In Peace Mr. Angelis
Not to mention, Angelis did the VHS And DVD New Friends For Thomas in the US
Or the fact Ringo did Thomas in the 2009 children's in need song
I just realised that the reason why Mr. Conductor is a tiny, magical man is probably because it was easier to greenscreen Ringo in than fly him to wherever they filmed Shining Time Station.
I totally understand why Angelis would be your #1, his devotion is unmatched. He's definitely in my top 3, but I would put Baldwin or Carlin as 1. Season 5 was the first season I've watched as a kid and Baldwin's narration was always the most entertaining to me.
My Top 5 Favorites:
1. George Carlin
2. Alec Baldwin
3. Ringo Starr (U.S)
4. Michael Brandon
5. Pierce Brosnan
Michael Brandon has been narrating my life in my head for nearly 2 decades
I came for the video and I stayed for the Michael Angelis tribute. :’)
These men helped shape my childhood. I will always have respect for each of them...
That being said, Alec Baldwin stole the show for me. Season 5 was action packed and he only made it better.
Your description of Angelis made me cry, you would suit narrator also just for that heartfelt section
In my opinion on Micheal Brandon: well yeah I agree that his voices for the characters like Skarloey or Rhenaus seemed completely mediocre but his voice for diesel throughout the hit era seemed completely menacing and It does truly fit
(sniff) That Angelis speech was beautiful!
I think what gives George Carlin the edge for me is that he was an atheist who could admire the lessons being taught and written by a religious man. He put aside his hatred for religion by narrating stories that weren’t trying to shove messages down people’s throats.
The stories weren't religious in the first place, unless I somehow didn't know that?
11:24 I agree, even though I've never seen it I was just like, jeez how much energy does he have!
*hears Brandon doing olivers voice *
Well he did say great western (if you know what I mean)
Also 007 did some narrations 😮
Angelis will always be my favourite narrator for Thomas. I've only ever listened to the narration from him since my childhood, but happily so. He just has the perfect charm, snark, energy, tone and feel for the majority of the series as a whole. Not sleeping on Carlin or Baldwin or anything, but I just don't think or feel like they came close to capturing the same overall charm and magic as him in general, and sometimes their moments just fall flat in comparison. Glad I got to listen to Angelis for one last time before he left and passed away in 2020...😢
RIP Angelis, you sick legend and my childhood hero indeed.
I will always love Michael Angelis as a narrator, he made up our childhoods and he was the longest running narrator, ever since the classic episodes right up to season 21! R.I.P Michael Angelis
Plus I like George Carlin because what's better than to have a comedian to narrate Thomas
That beginning intro made me so nostalgic
I grew up on the tail end of Carlin, both Baldwin seasons and the start of the Michael Brandon era. But, credit where it's due, Michael Angelis LOVED Thomas to its core. He stayed until the very end, basically. What an absolute legend.
Michael Brandon made so many characters sound like a cowboy like Oliver
And bulgy
TBH I really wished Brandon would watch the first 5 Seasons of the US Dub of The Classic Series and watched all the episodes 3 or 4 times so that he can get the characters right.
And Kelly
That end bit with Angelis was amazing. Rest In Peace. Also, I hate to say this, but...
*I’ve never watched Shining Time Station*
R.I.P. Michael Angelis
I am and always will be an Alec Baldwin guy. However, all of the other narrators range from good to absolutely phenomenal to me.
Not gonna lie the last part made me cry😢😢
What made George Carlin the best narrator in my opinion was how consistent he was, especially with how he makes the characters stand out with his unique voices for each one.
Michael Angelis has been my favourite forever, but when I heard he died, my heart shattered into so many pieces, I still miss him🥺
