As a plumber I am so happy you looked at the toilet location. I get so frustrated when I go to rough in my line and it’s directly on a floor joist.
The toy is so cool. Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
Awesome content and craftsmanship. I was a codes enforcer for West Tn many years. I was the inspector you wanted to come inspect. Didn’t bend the rules just allowed honest mistakes to be repaired. Good work guys.
im a simple man, i see crafted workshop and perkins builder brothers together and i hit the like button!
Thank you!
Good times for sure!
If I could like these videos twice I would.
RIP to those shocks if they are still factory lol. Prob a good time to upgrade shocks and do an add a leaf kit to the rear end for future building material runs.
Some roof racks to share the load across the vehicle without a mile of wood hanging out the tailgate wouldn’t hurt either
@@Alan.livingston That was so ridiculously dangerous and illegal.
@@coen555 In my neck of the woods the cops would be over you like flies on a cow pat.
I would get a trailer and take the weight off my truck.
Single Track Sampler is just everywhere with every construction project!
This series reminds me a VHS collection of house building videos my dad had. I was like 4 or 5 and loved watching those! Thanks for the nostalgia!
I worked at a lumber yard one summer, and I remember this guy coming into the yard with some old beater hatchback, and picking up like 10 bags of concrete which I loaded into the back of the car. I just internally laughed and shrugged my shoulders.
Nevermind owning a truck with a 6' bed, your loading it that way has taken me all the way back to those crazy days of my youth. xD
Love the casual cameo from Alex
Hah, thankfully he was nice enough to come help out! He was rewarded with cocktails 😂
Loving this series.
So satisfying watch someone build a house from start. Learning tons.
Glad you enjoy it!
Amazing, and great Craftsmanship!
Well done!
Oh man that fresh treated stuff can be SOOO damn heavy quickly ! I have cut it close a few times myself, and with a much smaller truck ... the dent and bend in tailgate just adds some character now !!
also that is an great working height for building out that floor system !
And that's why I restored my 1976 Silverado 3/4 ton and still drive it today!
Alex is now a carpenter
Fantastic series and cool seeing Alex.
I really love this series. Makes me a tiny bit regret switching from architecture to mathematics in college.
It is really satisfying watching the house come together!
Nice to have friends....... even the Perkins Bro’s...... never dull moment.....💪👍🙏
You got that right!
I'm about to start the subfloor framing on my Bardominium and this is exactly what I needed to see. Thanks
Glad I could help!
This guy is a proper Leo W.good thing Eric was available
Anytime you see Alex doing manual labor, Seth smiles a little more.
Alex was there. Awesome
dude i cant believe you did that shit with that truck props the chevy pulled through!
Ray & Jay in da HOUSE, literally
Hah, yup!
I have been a big fan of this series keep up the great work Johnny.
Thank you!
That's with a family of 4 by the way.. great video and awesome build. Good job!
HELL YEAH! Part 4! Let’s do this! Killer video man, this whole series is 🔥
Thanks man!
Thanks for building with us! :D
At least you by guys had some fun after a serious day of work.
Yup!
Ray is the best!
$250 for delivery......THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!!!
I'd rather pay $500 for a new tailgate.
JOHNNIES MASK SAYS IT ALL. LOLOLOLOLLOLO
Nice build sir
You know they will deliver!
Ray Jay Builder Buddies!!!
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Thank the lord!!! I thought it was last friday
Hah, it was supposed to be but I got sidetracked with the holidays!
I love this dang series... thank you for this!
Glad you're enjoying it!
Very informative for a guy like me….who’s not a builder…. Hehehehe well done guys!
Insulation? Are you planning to insulate the floor?
good content and shows how quick you can build a small ranch - no slab needed
Are you going to insulate the floor later? If yes, how? Crawling underneath? That would be an easy job in that tight space. Better hire Perkins for that.
Glad you're back as I was unsure whether I missed this part... 😁
Nope, just took the holidays off!
You should have installed insulation in the joists while they were open.
I'm just saying at least you have a truck. I'm that turd in the parking lot shoving 14 2X4's in the back of a honda accord.
If it works it works.
at least the accord will always start. Even an old one
You need to upgrade to an Odyssey like a real man.
@@eugenesandona6374 I was about to comment about an odyssey since I have one
But I don't think it will fit 14' in it lol
I'm the guy next to you with the Dodge Magnum brotha! "I can get more. I have to 🤣" just like packing in groceries, all in one trip!
love this series so much! Moar!! :D
Hi. I’m new to your channel and I really like what I see. It’s easy to understand and full of great tips too. I’m subbed!
Good video. I realy like those small tips .
Joist system should have been all PT. Not a place to cut corners. Not only moisture resistance but higher dimensional stability and insect resistance.
dope project! really entertaining
(before anyone says first - no)
Appreciate it!
4 channels i follow in one video, Awesome 👌🏻🤩
Awesome! Thank you!
The construction is looking fantastic, dude! Really nice! 😃
I'm starting a new construction here in Brazil as well, it's going to be 3 little houses for renting... But it's totally different. You wouldn't believe it! 😂
Anyway, happy new year! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Good luck! Thanks!
Great video
Thanks!
Love the videos
Thanks Noah!
I've been waiting for so long
I know, two weeks off feels like a LONG time for me too, hah!
Hot water and a plunger will take care if that dent on his truck.
You had the ole Carolina squat going on with that truck 🤣
😂
Will it be easier to install the underground pipe before you build the floor of the house? I mean at least for the part that is below the house???
Love it!!! You're giving me the construction bug watching this. Thanks for pointing out the flaws and mistakes that occur. And making them not a big deal. Keep up the good work Johnny Brooke.
Any time!
Have been waiting😂
Hah, me too! 😂
Headed to Home Depot as he pulls into the Lowe’s lot
😂
Some people hates lowes so much they refuse to say their name. 😂
Ray had me lol
A tip on your tailgate dents, if you get boiled water, and a plunger, put some boiling water on the dent, and on the plunger. put the plunger on the dent it will be a suction. thats why you use the hot water. then do a quick yeet, and it should come out its pretty big, which is good. Good luck
I subscribed to you yesterday to watch this build lol
That's awesome!
Very good at the moment and a half years ago when
Why did you put the beams on top of the first beams and not hang them in a line?
Finally
There is a limit on how much Hardie board siding you can put in a 77 olds Vista Cruiser wagon also. Had to tell the HD guys stop when my front tires left the ground. Decided two trips was the way to go.
Here in Greece, this is the size of a Normal House...
When I buy a truck, the first thing I'm doing is reinforcing the upper edge of the tailgate with 2in angle iron. They are not really designed to be "used" anymore.
Also, did something similar years ago when I loaded more than 1,000lbs of concrete mix into my Grand Cherokee. Fortunately, I was able to shift the load inside closer to the center, but the 5in lift vanished and immediately started having problems with the axle shaft seals.
Yea, definitely was a stupid decision on my part but thankfully Erik was able to help me out and future materials will be delivered 😂
@@craftedworkshop haha, we all make them at some point.
Doing suspended ceilings I put a block each end on string line and use a same block to keep them in line if one touches the line it’s a problem
3 2x12s seems overkill for the girders but im not a engineer.. thats a massive beam altogether!
Something I've been wondering is if it's better (i.e. cheaper) to buy lumber from Lowes vs. the suppliers like Builders FirstSource? Is lumber delivery prohibitively expensive? Could have used Seth's dump trailer.
Isn't the floor over the pressure treated joists just going to sink down a bit when they dry out? I'm sure they were wider because they're soaking wet from treatment.
I think that was part of the width factor, but I just think PT lumber is milled less precisely. These things varied wildly and even three months later they haven't shrunk noticeably.
Does it not call for midspan blocking or bridging for the joist since its over an 8foot span? Sorry jus wondering what the code was for your area
what do u think about the dewalt tracksaw?? how is it against the makita?
Your lumber yard stocks some really nice wood. Are they southern yellow pine?
Man that would have really messed up that truck with those boards acting like a lever sticking out like that. Perkins to the rescue! Lol.
I SPY ALEX!!!
Yup!
Shout out to @rayjaybuilderbuddies!
Sampler !!!
I would never have a Moran like that work for me...
Super excited to build our Not So Tiny Home- can't wait for the plans to arrive!
Probably could have added some air to the tires just to absorb some of the load. Don't feel too bad most trucks aren't really meant to do the work they once did. The beds are too short to haul lumber. They're ok for the weight not the length, etc.
Hey Johnny - if your emails are backing up you may want to consider a virtual assistant- they are the key to scaling and getting your time back to spend with your family...
Just came across this video and liked it so much....I'm Subscribed!! Dauphin Island, ALABAMA!! Question: Did you get an architect to do your plans for city code? It said she'd, but the plans looked like a house. ???
Thanks! Yes, the architect did the building plans and site plan, which I had to submit for the permit. Not sure where you saw shed but this is definitely classified as a single family residence AKA a house.
Well I guess we have an answer to how much stuff a half-ton pickup can carry
When I go to places like The Home Depot or Lowe's, they have pieces of wood board like what you use, but those prices varies from $10 to $40. Could you please tell me which kind of wood you use for the foundation and the floor ??? Thanks
2:50 Just put a joist on either side of the flange. 1 less joist vs. doubling neighboring joists.
That works as long as your sheet goods don’t need to break there. Otherwise, you’d need to header that area.
@@craftedworkshop Somehow, I did not think of that. A workaround is to start not with a full or ½-sheet, but a ¼ or ¾-sheet.
You will still end up with the running bond pattern, and that's what counts.
no blocking between any of the joists??
imagine your truck not starting because its missing the radiator cap
Great size tiny home, I'm in need of this size right now as I'm in a 14x14 space. Any way you could work some magic and get me some flooring provided..lol.. seriously
Wow, that's TIGHT! Good luck!
Good job, I love watching this. I’m doing a lot of home renovations on my home and think of building a new home in a few years. This gives me confidence to do some of the work myself. If nothing else, I feel like I could at least make a little wood working shack lol! Keep up the great work and love the videos!
You can do it! Amazing what you can learn watching a bunch of UA-cam videos, hah.
Carolina squat 🤙🏼
👍👍😊
I'm curious, what's the pros and cons of going on top of the beams with the floor joists instead of inside the beams?
I've been trying to figure out the best way to set the frame on the piers with the joists inside. It's a pain the butt and requires a lot more hardware if you don't want to have the sides your concrete piers sticking out the sides of your house. After watching this, I decided to ditch the "joist inside" idea and run it just like them. Difference for me was I used 2x10's but I was spanning only 8' where he looks like he's spanning 12'.
@@PharSideInvestments Yeah that's a good point, the piers will be sticking out if the joists aren't on top of the beams. The shims on the treated joists were also a terrible idea, that PT lumber will shrink to the same size as the non PT lumber when it dries. I'm really surprised they added those shims.
1 answer 8 foot bed
Loving the work and combines youtubers. Really nice to see 💪🏾
Really good again.
I am surprised the Perkin Bros team had available time from their projects
Luckily, this was right in between their last home build and their current one. Worked out perfectly!
