for Renault 1.5dCi engine it is necessary , to use oil with standard RN0720 - due to DPF filter. personally , I use ELF EVOLUTION FULLTECH FE 5W-30. oil filter is Purflux .
@@olindor220 I have 2 cars at home with a 1.5 DCI K9K 836 engine. I also tried the Liqui Molly TOP TEC 4400, which meets the Renault RN 0720 standard, except that it is € 15 more expensive for a 5L package than ELF oil with the RN 0720 standard, and I did not notice any difference. if you like more Liqui Molly TOP TEC 4400, it's O.K you can put to your engine 1.5dCi K9K any oil that meets the Renault RN 0720 standard.
Hate the position of it! I have never been able to unscrew it by hand. I always end up having to use a big extension and a special tool that grabs the filter
Excellent video. It helped a lot thanks. That square shaped draining bolt do you know the dimensions of the square wrench in milimeters because I have not this tool in my inventory and I am planning to buy one in order to get the job done. Thank you.
I don’t know which fairy lightly fitted your previous oil filter, I’ve been wrestling mine like a mad man for 3 hours, I’ve broke a wire and scraped my knuckles in all that razor sharp plastic panels. I hate my Reno today. Otherwise great video ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 👍
had same problem found a special 3 armed wrench that finally stuck to the filter and I had to use brute force non of the normal oil filter adapters could get the filter to move.
Only thing I disagree is oil level near max. I watched some videos and talked with some experienced car mechanics and they all told me that oil level should be in middle and you should check for it from time to time. Service puts to the max because of their service intervals.
This is always debatable, our mechanic (mechanics teacher) recommends that we show this way. In fact, there is no wrong way as long as there is enough oil in the engine ;)
Have to say in my 10+ years of changing the oil+filter on my cars never ever have I been able to undo it by hand. And now having bough 2014 Megane with 1.5 dci engine I was hoping the video would show the oil filter tool because the one I have is too big for the space Renault gives you. The tool I am looking at is Laser 3882 76mm with 12 flats but not sure if its the size is right so don't quote me.
@Peter Hicks Never had a problem with the oil filter working itself loose. Done my second oil change on my car a few weeks ago and just like before just nipped it up by hand as much as I could. No tools were used.
@Peter Hicks 2014 Megane 3 1.5dCi (facelift model). Same easier to remove the headlight to change bulbs thankfully its actually a lot easier than on some other models that require removal of the bumper.
Thanks for the video, BUT IT IS FOR NAUVI TO UNLOCK THE FILTER, IN REAL LIFE THINGS ARE DIFFERENT. YOU NEED TO REDO THE FILMING AND FILM WITH THE WRENCH WITH 3 CLAWS AND AN EXTENSION (don't break your hand and don't damage anything on the car.) You will be more credible that way. Of all those who watched, I think none of us could open the filter with hand, not even your fellow mechanics, I have been driving for 28 years and I have not seen, for a single moment, that it would be possible to open it manually.

Older model are euro 4 and does not require RN0720

quick and nice explanation
Thanks Kaktus !

Thanks for the feedback, it's always a mess the oil filter ! Did you succeed ?

Oil deep stick????
It goes deep into the engine, so it might be a deep stick. 😄
Jokes aside, we changed it in our newest videos. 🙂

Does anyone know where the egr and turbo is in a 1.5 dci rhd
Turbo is between the engine and firewall
