  • “It was a huge literary scandal, I was dubbed a witch, I went through the gauntlet of the most outrageous criticism.”
Bestselling author Oksana Zabuzhko talks to Mariella Frostrup on #TimesRadio about writing about national identity, sexuality, and political tensions in Ukraine, and says that promoting Ukrainian culture is her contribution to the war effort.
Mariella Frostrup is live from Cheltenham Literature Festival which is hosting Ukraine Day, filled with specially co-curated events celebrating Ukrainian writers, poets, musicians and filmmakers.

@@grzegorzgodlewski9175 Oksana is writing on different history topics. I haven't read the topic you mentioned. I like her investigations about Ukrainian poets Shevchenko, Ukrainka, and about architector Horodnycyi. I like her style to deep into history material)))

@@grzegorzgodlewski9175 I'm not fully understand your question. I explained that Zabuzhko is famous in Ukraine for the other reason than Bandera.

According to a rUSSIAN TV station I watched there's no such thing as Ukrainian country, culture or language. It made me sick but I wasn't the only one, one of hosts tried to educate the others but he had no chance.

The Holodomor (Great Famine), was a man-made famine from 1932 to 1933 that killed some 3.5 - 5.0 million Ukrainian citizens. (Wikipedia) The deaths occurred primarily in Eastern (Soviet) Ukraine. The population was backfilled with the importation of Russian citizens. Hence the preponderance of Russian language in this part of Ukraine today.
