How much do you think you made with this jar. I think you paid way too much. Goodwill isnt going to put anything of great value in these jars. They know whats good and what isnt.
Thanks for watching- the video- I’ve lost count of my profit margin, however remember value is subjective and is determined by niche markets. I urge you to browse eBay SOLD listings to see what I mean.
I have to say I've been spending a lot of time down in Ann arbor at the U of M university hospital. In their main hallway back towards the elevator/ escalators there is a display of art shadow boxes filled with lovely collages (im dyslexic so excuse the spelling errors) Of costume jewelry from all ages/eras. I have a cookie tin filled with odds and ends of costume jewelry from passed away family that I've been thinking of maybe designing and making one of my own. Some are abstract and some are themed and some are deconstructed amd turned into animals/butterflies you name it. I've always been partial to koi and water lilies or lotus. Against deep blue felt, it might turn out cute. There is always a way to turn a profit from things if you don't mind putting in a bit of effort. I bought few rolls of coins from an older lady who needed paper money (the store was giving her grief about counting change) The roll of quarters had 2 silver quarters in it and the roll of dimes had several silver dimes. But the 4 rolls of pennies were full of wheat pennies and even 3 Indian head pennies. You never know when you might find treasures. I kind of expect to find washers and slugs in the quarter roll lol.
Nice video! I recently bought a big misc jewelry bag for $20, and it contained a vintage Corki Weeks kaleidoscope necklace which I'll be able to resell for at least $200!

Hi, I just found your channel yesterday. Love it and your style of "unboxing" of items, and your personality! Gonna binge watch some more. You have some fantastic finds :)
i did this regularly at my local goodwills. about 7-10 years ago… literally every week i would buy 3-6. for an average of $25-40 and almost every time you got decent real gold rings, coins, and maid a few hundred on each. it slowly slowed down over the years people caught on. jar prices went up, and they started taking a closer look at what went into them. nowadays it’s a tru gamble but this used to by extremely profitable

Hello 👋 I'm watching your video 10 months later and am really enjoying it! The 2 bracelets at 29:36 with the red and purple pearls are gorgeous! I own one as well…it’s a darker purple, and I paid $50 for it in Hawaii in 2005 on my honeymoon. The marriage didn’t last, but I still have my bracelet! I need to replace the elastic as it is stretched out and I don’t want it to break. 💜🙋♀️🇨🇦
i love your user name ! my moms name is Thelma. i lost her to cancer in 2014. she absolutely loved to go thrifting. i sure do miss her and i know she's looking down watching your video with me. 😊
Hi, I would love to do a jar someday. My mother and I bought the jewelry from the estate of an extreme collecter, estimation of 20,000 pieces of jewelry, and cat fingerings just under 2,000 of those over 500 baskets. It is so much fun to look through it all. In your video, You asked about a stretchy thing. It is a decorative way to push your sweeter up and away from your hand to a 3/4 fit.
That was an amazing jewelry jar. Lots of sterling diamonds and James Avery also beautiful pearls It doesn't get better than that . Loved watching take care Thelma.
You mentioned you wished the sterling silver ring on your finger would look silver again. I wear SS on almost all my fingers. Lol If you get hot water, about 1\4C, line a small dish, cup, bowl, whatever you have, with aluminum foil, shiny shiny side up, add 1-2Tblsp vinegar, tsp baking soda, stir... Set your ring in it. You will literally see it shine up. For small grooves can use soft tooth brush. Rinse and towel dry. :) This works on all my jewelry, even gold. But if you have stones, look up the type of stone you have before using this method. There are a handful that can't be introduced to vinegar.
I remember when these jewelry jars used to sell for $5.99, $6.99, and $7.99 at Goodwill. I couldn’t imagine spending $150.00 and not getting more precious metals… I’m glad that you are excited though… I would have been really upset, LOL, especially since things aren’t selling as well right now. I would definitely stick with the pawn shops, as I have control over what I want. ❤
I hear ya, I only remember them as low as $25.00 I left two behind this week, because they want $140.00 and it looked like half of it was hair accessories. thanks for watching the channel.
HI Thelma!!! I really like that multi strand wood or clay necklace in the southwest turquoise blue shades. That would look great over a peach or black top. I know I would wear it if I had it.
I bought a box 163 pieces of antique and vintage jewelry from the son of a woman who had quite the collection. She had died 20 years prior to me buying it and he had stored her things before organizing and selling. I paid $300 and ended up selling pieces for over $3000 profit. I still have some of the pieces I couldn't bear to part with! Other pieces I wish I had kept but I needed the money and having an allergy to nickel, I cannot wear most of it. A good rule of thumb for parting with awesome pieces is to remind yourself that you're not married to them.

I think my favorites were the lavender & coral colored pearl bracelets; that big, crystal-like ring; the leopard or lion clasp bracelet; and the silver necklace with gold barrel-like pieces on it.
Wow that’s a lot of money! I’m feeling blessed now. I was complaining about getting my jewelry jars for $40. For $150 you shouldn’t have anything broken. I also never shop at Goodwill because of there high prices on everything and they don’t do much if anything for the community🤨

Wow Thelma you did great on this Jewelry Jar, you got alot of Silver Jewelry, some gold, and a diamond ring, and some beautiful designer Jewelry and Vintage also. I think you made your money back, congratulations on this Jewelry Jar. ❤❤
The necklace you thought was mother of pearl is from a conch shell. ( pronounced "conk") Mother of pearl comes from the iridescent lining inside of three types of mollusks. Pearl oysters, freshwater mussels, and abalone.

Thank you so much for sharing all the jewelry did you got looks likes to repair work needs to be done on a few pieces. Hope you got your moneys worth back out of it.
Brava to you for thrifting! I used to shop at Goodwill, too, until a couple of years ago when I discovered the Big Cheeses at GW make somewhere between $500 thousand and 1 million dollars per year (depending on what internet search you do). I also found out that employees with disabilities are often paid less than minimum wage (as low as 22 cents per hour), whistleblowers have been fired, and safety issues have led to tragedy. Now my fave thrift store is The Humane Society Thrift Store, the fave of all our town which voted it the Best Thrift Store - even against GW! We also have thrift stores for hospice, Teen Challenge, and other local charities. I try to be even more ETHICAL about where my little money goes.
The Goodwill‘s in my area had been getting too much gold and sterling jewelry so they decided to start selling it on the goodwill website. It was an absolute blow to everyone who loved the treasure hunting. I am honestly disgusted that Goodwill would do that. Now the people that buy on Goodwill Usually buy to resell.
Iolite is purplish, not green. Did you perhaps mean Indicolite? Which is the blue/green tourmaline that is expensive. Argentium silver is very popular with craft jewelers as it can be welded without flux - it just melts and flows into place, no scale, no pickling required.
How much do you think you made with this jar. I think you paid way too much. Goodwill isnt going to put anything of great value in these jars. They know whats good and what isnt.

Really! What a coincidence. Thanks for watching.
The sparkling hoops with the black and white braid might be diamonds and black diamonds. I saw something similar at Kohls .
Yes. I think so.
Thanks thelma i loved that jar. K❤
So glad!
Lovely finds, the jar was definitely worth 150! Our Goodwill here has so much junk 😫!
I agree, thanks so much for watching.
Great idea! (Removing a link.)💡!

Hi! I just found your channel and what a video to start with, WOW, how fun! I look forward to diving into your previous content and watching forward on! 😊 Aly
Awesome! Thank you!
Hmm, always thought the small pearl goes in front, and the big pearl behind so that it tilts a little forward and is visible below the lobe.
That makes sense.
I love the lady head vase. I have about 32.
Really! I think they are utterly delightful. Thank you for watching.
That big crystal ring is great 🥰🥰
I think so too!

Welcome Amy thanks for being here.
Thanks so much for watching my video.
I am as well, I can't believe they would make such a foul move.
It's disgusting but they'll say they're in it to make money just like the treasure hunters are 😊
We talked about the glass beach that I used to visit.. it might have been me.. There is a lot of High quality jewelry coming out of S. Korea.
Oh wow! Did we speak at the Goodwill outlet? Email me.
Good morning Thelma I always enjoyed watching your video
Thank You 😊
That blue and white stone looks like JTV earrings with blue and white diamonds.
Really.
Iolite is purplish, not green. Did you perhaps mean Indicolite? Which is the blue/green tourmaline that is expensive. Argentium silver is very popular with craft jewelers as it can be welded without flux - it just melts and flows into place, no scale, no pickling required.
Thanks for the information. I meant Iolite- the surrounding stones are not green at all. Thanks for watching
@@ThelmaThrift In the video they appeared green not purple for some reason.
@@randyromines7364 I thought they were missing, they are an interesting color.
The earings you show at 54.52 look like JC Penny. So much fun to watch you!!
Thanks so much for the information and for watching.
