Warning!!! Please do not sleep your basestations if absolutely necessary!!! this causes the RED light of death. Basically it can wear down your base stations dramatically causing them to malfunction or stop working completely all together way faster than normally. Valve recommends you to not use it VIA articles and videos i've watched.
I personally have experienced a malfunctioning base station and was thankful valve replaced it for me because of the known issue, please look it up if you are curious about it.
Just some advice. Never "push through" VR sickness. It only makes things permanent. Always take breaks. Small increments will make sure you can take turning well eventually. I used to get sick instantly, and now after a year or so never pushing through and always stopping immediately if I get sick I can play for hours.
Excellent advice, thanks! Yeah I think taking breaks is a must, conditioning to get used to it is for sure the way to go. I feel like you would just throw up if you kept going too maybe lol
Just got my Index today, yalls videos have been very helpful and insightful! Glad I found you guys! My only question is how much updating do you guys have to do hardware wise out of the box?
Thanks glad to hear (: !! Honestly I don’t remember doing any hardware updating. I could be wrong but I feel like we already had the drivers downloaded. I know that we had pre downloaded Half Life and had game ready drivers from nividia experience! Other than that I just remember hooking it all up, and doing the prompted install!
it depends on when your hmd was made, the companys selling it to you dont take it out of the box to update it once its made it stays in storage until its sold to you
Waited 13 weeks to get my order confirmation... that’s fine though I managed to stock up on a ton of vr games before the big purchase was made. Can’t wait for it to come in!
I believe someone from the modding community made a USB powered fan to fit into the front section of the Index to help with cooling.. Definitely worth looking into, ordered my Index yesterday and today the status has already changed from Processing to Shipped !! SOOO EXCITED!
:o that's insane we never saw a status that showed estimated time on order! We hate to give you a prize when its for something like this but the new official title for longest wait so far is yours! Hopefully you get confirmation soon! 🥇
DO NOT SET BASE STATIONS TO SLEEP IT DECREASES THE MOTORS LIFE SPAN BY A LOT, the most wear and tear time for a motor is turning on and off, best to turn your stations on in the morning if its a day your playing vr and turn them off when you go to sleep
honestly for first time vr players the index is not a good first vr becuase of how realstic it is, its much better to start at lower end headsets(which isnt easy anymore becuase of discontinuations)like the psvr original rift, and the quest 1 and maybe 2 then move to the bigger thingss, the index is my fourth vr and i dont experiance any motion sickness EVER becuiase i started on psvr and moved to the quests, the reason you experiance motion sickness is rarely actual motion sickness its usualy the player not understandning the diference between vr and real life in there subconsious, best way to avoid this is as i said start at lower quality hmds so you can tell the difernece easier, also you should only be using continuos turn and locomotion movving it may be disoirentating at first but its better in the long run.

I got sick after 2h of boneworks :D
Oh no! D: I definitely experienced motion sickness a few times during boneworks. It seemed to get better with time and keeping the headset cooled! 😅
