Yu-Gi-Oh! (Japanese: 遊☆戯☆王, Hepburn: Yū-Gi-Ō!, lit. 'Game King') is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine between September 1996 and March 2004. The plot follows the story of a boy named Yugi Mutou, who solves the ancient Millennium Puzzle. Yugi awakens a gambling alter-ego or spirit within his body that solves his conflicts using various games.

Joey lost due to bricking which was funny to show the characters luck not paying off just like in real yugioh. Horrible it happens in his final duel tho. Him and yugi getting to duel one last time or in filled woulda been fun.
Honestly, I see Mokuba rocking the Felgrand Structure Deck. It wouldn’t beat Seto’s deck, but it would prove he has merit all his own.

I know no one will agree with me but I'll always believe Joey's final duel should've been beating yugi or Kaiba. Joey spends the whole series as the butt monkey and beating the old man who got bodied episode one doesn't cut it. Joey should be on the level of yugi and kaiba so having him prove that despite his lack of Egyptian toes he can stand on their level would be amazing.
They pushed Yugi & Kaiba too much & made Joey a joke sadly

Joey has 3 people he could have his final duel with.
Esparoba- They both promised to face each other again in a fair duel with no cheating.
Odion- They also promised to face each other again in a fair duel with no cheating but also as friends.
Kaiba- Joey promised he'll keep dueling him until he wins.
Our boi Katsuya Jounouchi got assassinated in KC Grand Prix for sure. They could have kept the comedic angle without regressing his character so much. And well, have him beat Ziegfried? Idc if that "undermines him as a villain", that whole bit was fairly dumb anyways. His plans do not require him to remain in the tournament, as he straight up was pulled out of it by Kaiba, so what is the hold up? His duel against Kaiba does not require him to be pulled out of the tournament either, because Kaiba could have also postponed the actual finals because "we have a hacker in the masses and we must deal with this NOW" and the stakes are that Ziegfried gets banned from the premises if he loses.
(which is whatever, but so was him being disqualified. We are talking about an arc where the villain does not lose because Yami wins, but because he forgot that Kaiba probably takes back ups of his software from time to time. We should view this arc as a victory lap to celebrate prior character development and help set up the message that Yami is no longer needed in this world for the coming millenium world arc, not as a serious plot that can be ruined by cutting the tension.)
3:50 I unironically have been thinking about this for a while. Rex is a rude punk, but he is a fair dude on the core and even warned Joey to be careful against Roba in Battle City. The issue he faces in the anime(Not in the manga where he just vanishes after early BC outside of a cameo in DSoD) is that he constantly gets morally dragged down by Weevil being his buddy. The fanbase generally seems to disagree with me about this, but I would have actually liked him to get some sort of redemption to cap this little sideplot off.
Like, have him and Weevil actually win their first duel in KC Grand Prix(Not against Ziegfried in this what-if) and have them thus advance by a technicality. Weevil decides to shortcut the tournament and steal whatever Non-"Duel Yugi"-prices are involved. Rex disagrees and they duel. Rex wins, Weevil gets caught in 4K(Of course Kaiba has videocameras in the area the prices are stored, lol) and disqualified and Rex as a solo-player actually manages to place fairly high. It won't restore his reputation or negate his earlier crimes when they were still a duo, but it at least gives him potential for a rise from the ashes eventually, which is fine by me. Ending the fiasco on a good note.
5:19 Idk about this one, chief. They have basically no common ground beyond "Current master of millenium item" and that point is entirely invalid by the point in the story when Bakura is freed because everyone agrees to just give them to Yami to end the adventure. I don't even think Bakuya really knows Marik, Marik only really interacted with Yami Bakura in BC. And their siturationwas not exactly equivalent because one was a legit spirit of the past and the other was the person's actual dark half. I would personally rather make a post-end sequel OVA specific to Bakura coming to terms with him being his own person and not a dangerous demon or pawn to the darkness(Kinda a dark version of Yugi's own "you are your own person"-result). The anime has no DSoD, so this idea does not run the risk of conflicting anything.
6:49 Another day of me wanting the actual adaptation of the manga. Going from the start until transcend game, with R in the middle where it chronologically takes place...that is seriously something we need eventually. It would also be neat if they adapted the sequelmangas too, but I'd be happy with just OG if it had to be.
The only way Triston beats Serinity is if it's while she is still blind, our boy couldn't win a duel if he picked 4 exodia cards in his first hand.
We never got to see Joey beat Kaiba, Jaden beat Zane, or Yuma beat Kite. I'm sure the latter two are possible, but I would've liked to see it onscreen.
At least anime filler gave Kaiba a win against Pegasus

Never once mentions how Joey got absolutely jobbed and robbed of a potential victory over Kaiba.

Kaiba vs Marik would work really well, the two never got to duel one-on-one in battle city and are the only 2 members of the final 4 not to do so, both were the keeper of the god cards prior to Yugi winning them off of them, and Kaiba is the reincarnation of the original wielder of the Millennium Rod. Plus add on that Marik crashed Kaiba's tournament and that Battle City (The arc where Marik was the main villain) is the last time Kaiba appears in the manga, tying both heavily to that arc. You could have it that in order to duel Atem again, instead of doing the weird potentially dying thing from DSoD, Kaiba instead has to Duel Marik, the former guardian of the Pharaoh's tomb and both their ties to the Millennium Rod and his tie to the past is what facilitates the duel, which still seems to mean something for Kaiba since he was able to pull Obelisk out of the ground in the middle of a duel after it was already gone,
There were a couple of minor characters who you missed who I think would have made this list even better. Mako and Espa. I think they could potentially be a good final duel for each other, but I also think Espa could be a good final duel for Keith and Mako would be good for Mai. I think Mako vs Mai would be the best combination out of these because Mako has always been shown to be dueling for selfless reasons from the start, that is hoping to find his father again some day; whereas Mai's character arc was about opening her hearts to others both dueling for someone other than herself as well as accepting the help of others. Basically they started on opposite ends, but Mai has grown a lot since her selfish beginning but Mako was kind of stagnant. For Mai seeing Mako's selflessness will help her see how far she's come, and Mai could help Mako let go and move on.
It's sad Joey's last couple duels were in filler arcs (Orichalcos & Kaiba Championship).
It's too bad he couldn't fuse into that dragon armor to punch Zigfried in face.

one other thing that connects Mai and Keith is that they've both used underhanded tactics, but Mai used them more for mind games, while Keith straight up hid cards up his sleeve
Mokuba doesn't even have his own deck that's how much of a nonfactor he is.
Nice ideas, it’s a cool concept and while I don’t think the series necessarily needs the duels (ironically despite being called DM, it’s the series that least cares about having duels for the sake of it). I would be interested in seeing this for the other series though as I feel that has more substance to draw on (though a lot of them do give much better final duels to their characters)
I don’t 100% agree on the choices, I think as others have said Joey Vs Kaiba is the obvious final duel for him - or at least if we’d seen Joey vs Yugi after battle city we’d have his last “canon” duel.
I do think Yami Bakura vs (Ordinary) Marik would be a fun final arc duel though - kind of a “I know what you’re going through so only I can save you” kind of duel
Genuinely thought the last one was going to be a fair Mai vs Joey as their reconciliation. Bandit Keith came out of nowhere 😂 but I can kinda see it.
1:06: Exactly! As a fan of this duel (My favorite duel in the OG series and my favorite duel for Joey) it’s an excellent way for Joey to go out. Even more so for the idea of Zigfred cheating two other things occur. One instead of hacking his life points to zero, how about he pulls a Johnson and has Joey’s luck based cards roll the worst result possible. This could be used to show his feelings on people who use luck to win. Especially given he hates Kaiba and probably feels he lucked his way into so much. Lucked himself into getting adopted, lucked himself into making his company focus on Duel Monsters, and lucked himself into getting Pegasus to agree to his hologram simulator. So it could work its way into his character and have a good way to weaken Joey’s deck by cheating. And two have Kaiba appear and reveal this fact on top of him sneaking in with a fake name to disqualify him. So Kaiba has to inadvertently compliment Joey..or knowing him roast Zigfred for needing to cheat in order to beat Joey.
I mean, Joeys final duel ,excluding fillers and excluding yugioh R for the manga, if im not mistaken was actually against Atem/Yugi as the ending to the battle city arc so I feel like that was his ceremonial duel in itself. To prove his growth from his rookies days into becoming a true duelist. Theres even room to believe he won if you like to believe him having his card back in DSOD implies that he won the duel
Actually Joey in the manga's final duel was against Yami Bakura where Joey got beat in 1 turn, but I see what you mean 👍

I think we should have a remake of the og series but include stapples of current dueling. Season 0 stays the same, no touchy.
Pegasus showing up starts the new trend, as during the tv duel Pegasus shows off XYZ summoning, something Yugi has no idea existed. Though he manages to destroy Toon Rebellion XYZ dragon, the timer runs down and Yugi loses Grandpa.
The island still plays with the dnd rules as before, but there are a few changes.
Weavle is now rocking a Inzector deck, Rex's deck would be about the same, but when Joey uses Time wizard... Rex activates poly for a real king beast Transcendosaurus Gigantozowler
Mako... yeah he goes heavy in Mermail deck, causing Yugi's Kuribho to evolve into a "Tuner" monster and Yugi summoning his first Syncho.
Bones steals REDEYES and under his hand it evolves to red eyes zombie dragon, and Joey has to duel against his favorite card.
Paradox brothers... yeah they just get a whole upgrade, ect.
Honestly, these duels should have comprised the Grand Prix. Rather than just another beat the bad guy, it a tournament made up explicitly of good people. The final round would be kaiba vs Joey
Joey already beat Kaiba in battle city's dispute for 3rd place. No need to humiliate the 4th rate duelist with a 5th rate deck again.
I just noticed you use the same intro song and have a similar intro line to NCHammer23. That’s pretty cool! Also i loved this video. A lot of the characters here deserved better tbh. Joey and Mai especially.

I think a better idea would be if Tea dueled Vivian. it's a filler arch, so they can let the other characters duel. And it makes more sense she'd more mad an older girl was hitting on yugi rather than younger one.
Honestly, I think we needed to see Joey face Yugi for Red-Eyes. I didn’t mind Joey losing to Zigfried as he’s being established as Kaiba’s near equal, and we know how well Joey does against Kaiba xD
But I think him defeating Yugi’s grandfather was a fine send-off. Alternatively, I actually would have had Zigfried throw his match against Joey to throw Kaiba off his scent. We can say it didn’t work, and Kaiba still Duels him anyway, allowing him to show off his full power, to the shock of Joey.
Joey could have then Dueled Leon and if he won, we could have had a Joey vs Yugi match for Red-Eyes, though here Atem would have to win otherwise he loses his title.
Hear me out, I know Kaiba's perfect ceremonial duel. It should be against Yugi (not Atem) just before Yugi fights Atem himself.
How it'll work is that Yugi will say he wants to be the one to challenge Atem and this is a non-negotiable outcome. So just like how Kaiba helped Atem beat Marik, he goes to Yugi and says "if you really want to beat the Pharaoh, then let me give you a little warm-up" because Kaiba can see Yugi is hesitant to beat Atem and send him to the afterlife, and a duel where Yugi isn't sure he wants to win isn't right in Kaiba's eyes. They begin to duel, there are no God Cards here, no overpowered deities, not even the Millennium Puzzle to help (so Yugi doesn't give away his strategies to Atem before their duel).
Kaiba belittles how unprepared Yugi is, but also states that even though he doesn't like Yugi, he can't deny that being rivals has forced him to get a lot better as a duelist and that's how he should be viewing Atem. Not as a friend to send away, but the ultimate test of his skills. They keep dueling with everything they've got and in the end, Kaiba snaps Yugi out of his stupor and wins. And Kaiba won because this time he wasn't fighting to destroy his opponent, he fought to help Yugi (this parallels when Kaibaman duels Jaden in GX). Yugi realizes that if he couldn't even beat Kaiba, he stands no chance against Atem and therefore doubles down on deckbuilding. After they leave, Kaiba thinks that if Yugi had made some better plays, he definitely had all the tools for victory in their duel, so while he's doubtful that Yugi can beat Atem, there is a sliver of hope.

Yeah, I wish we had see Joey defeat Kaiba that should’ve been his last duel to proven Tai, but that he is a dualist and he deserves to be in tournaments like even despite Joey, reaching into the semi finals of battle city finals kaiba Think Joey doesn’t belong in his tournament despite Joey‘s proven it to be in the finals we seen Joey go through semi finals on those kingdom and battle city finals and after two loses from Kaiba the third dual between them would’ve been something, especially to proven that Joey to show that he is a great dualist Joey, dessert war, and after all that montage and build up within his character season five filler arc basically ruined him

We, er...actually do not know. It by all counts has no reason not to be canon besides "the original author didn't write it!", which at least I personally wouldn't agree with. However, it has also never exactly been hard-referenced in other material or confirmed.
