    Just upgraded my 1070 to 3060 ti for 1440p gameplay. I'm happy with my decision. Grabbed it at $480 while the 3700 was at $600. The 10ish% improvement isn't worth the extra buck imo.

      I guess it depends on the region, but I'm in the southern US & I got my Zotac 3060ti OC edition (non-GDDR6X) for $340 new/open box. But it was through a local seller, not a retail outlet or website. It's also an LHR model which is why I'm guessing it was priced below MSRP but either way I don't care for crypto mining capability. I was just glad to finally get something way better than my 8gb RX 580.

      @@couriersix2443 I almost went with ZOTAC first, it was under $400. But I decided to drop the extra $80 on the MSI card due to overclockability. I've had this card for a few weeks now and I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the performance and results with 1440p. Max everything, great looks. No reason to go above that for 1440p especially if money is tight.

      @@LedZeppelinPage yeah man, I completely understand. Bigger heatsink + triple fan cards are easier to cool which gives more OC headroom. I've managed to get a decent OC out of this card (even as a dual fan + single 8-pin model) but it gets kinda loud hahahaha. I've had it stable at 110% PL, 2160Mhz + 7500Mhz for the mem (haven't tried going past +250) and it's freakin stellar. Last time I did a purely synthetic bench on that profile it was damn near within striking distance of a stock 3070 FE. Even if it does sound like a 787 prepping to launch off the runway 😂 that's basically been the only downside to me cheating out honestly, but temps peaked at 70c and never really budged until after it finished and dropped the clocks back down to idle. All of it was done with Afterburner & a custom (yet somewhat aggressive) fan curve. While the fan noise is unpleasant to most, I don't really notice it when I've got my headset/ANC earbuds on. Looking back though, the triple fan RGB Strix model would've been more to my liking. But like you said, more performance for less money is always a W. The fact that I'm able to fully utilize the card with a $150 CPU (R5 5600) that was a drop in replacement on my existing mobo is just incredible. This time a year ago would've cost well over $1k for the same performance, but all said and done I've probably spent like $650-680 (mix of new/open box stuff, local sales at Micro Center, and a few used parts via local marketplace)

    Thank you so much for doing this video. From what I've been able to observe, the 3070 is much better with frame timing than the 3060 ti. I noticed on several occasions that the 3060 ti's perception of smoothness was much choppier than the 3070's simply due to the difference in frame timing, even at high fps.
    This video has convinced me to spend the extra couple bucks to avoid the choppier framerate of the cheaper card.

    Having used the 3070 primary at 4k, I have found that it can handle most games at 4k with optimized settings (usually High) and DLSS Quality. It’s certainly not as good as the 3080 and above, but it’s value is unmatched by almost anything else.

    • @ohneflachsderlachsderhats6590
      @ohneflachsderlachsderhats6590 Рік тому

      I still wouldn’t recommend the 3070 for 4k. As you said you had to adjust setting and needed DLSS just to reach playable FPS. And there’s the problem, if you have to lower settings nowadays what will be in 2 years+? You also have to mention the relatively low VRAM of just 8GB. 8GB aren’t even the best for 1440p so problems are just gonna get worse at 4k. So in long term the value gets pretty bad at 4k. But anyways still a good 1440p card.

      Turning down graphics from ultra to high is perfectly fine if it means getting over the hurdle of a stable minimum of 60 fps considering how little difference anyone can really see in-game and this is even more effective the higher the resolution. Personally I have a 3060 ti and play at 1440p with a 165 Hz g-sync monitor and turning down some details and effects to achieve above 120fps in "graphical" games is worth more than having barely better looking leaves or shadows 👍

    Got a 3060 ti OC edition recently at near MSRP. Though it is not marketed as a 4k card, I am quite surprised at the performance it gives for 2160p. VRAM is the limiting factor here and I ain't a ray tracing worshipper.
    ✅1080p - Just EZ for this card. RT is something that "might" require DLSS (like some areas in Spiderman), otherwise, it's smooth AF.
    🟡1440p/4k DLSS - go blindly with 3060ti if you want constant 60-75 FPS. If you have a higher refresh rate monitor, you CAN go with 3070 but make sure you are not bottlenecked by any other hardware (Like CPU, even disk speed and RAM).
    ❌4k native - Well, go with something with a higher VRAM cap because 8GB just won't do (in most games). DLSS might help you in some cases but you'll be at the mercy of gaming industry. If the 30xx line was actually at msrp then the only two that makes sense are the 3060ti and 12gb 3080. But since prices are still all over the place its down to how needy you are for a new gpu and what price are you willing to pay for it. If you hold out till the upcoming holiday sales when vendors are trying to dump their overstocks you should get some killer deals on both nvidia and amd gpu. Waiting for 40xx is pointless as the launch gpu will be their flagships and you know they will be priced far higher than current stock. Plus the tdp for these flagships will also mean new psu for any adopters even if you already have a decently high end unit. I just bought an evga 850w gold psu to drive my 3080 and it won't be enough for a 4080 when the rest of the systems load is taken into consideration.

I can live with 50 bucks over MSRP for a 3rd party card. That's not much more than you would pay for the 3rd party version anyway. With FSR 2.0 and the improvements AMD has made to the AMF encoder, the only reason to even pay more for Nvidia is the better performance in Raytracing. @@JackulaHD To be perfectly honest, there's really nothing wrong with getting a low-end cooler on a base MSRP GPU. There's only two cases where you wouldn't want to do that
      1) if there's actually a fault in the cooler which is pointed out by a tech site [this is really rare, but happens once a blue moon],
      2) you want to overclock the living sh!t out of the GPU once you put it in your system... you're going to want the best cooler you can get if you're going to overclock.
      If all you're going to do is slap it in your system and leave it at default, it's going to run just fine and within a FPS or two of the fanciest most expensive GPU of the same SKU. Most people that crank out the cash for the expensive coolers are doing it because they either want to overclock the sh!t out of it, or they just want that fancy looking GPU with RGB to "pimp their rig"... but performance wise, it's not really going to be much different from the low-end stock cooler if they're not overclocking it.

    Played through CP2077 on 3060ti with full RT @ 1080p with DLSS quality. The only issue was character reflections that I noticed, looks fantastic otherwise, the way RT lighting knits the entire scene together is truly amazing.

    • @sermerlin1
      @sermerlin1 2 роки тому +1

      It just "connects" everything together... Doesn't it? Like non RT ultra yes you can say woah pretty damn gorgeous but it is as if something is missing... It's as if the world is not grounded... And as soon as you start moving and looking around this illusion just cracks and breaks but then when you enable full RT... Everything just "molds" together into this seamless, coherent visual presentation.
      My mind after seeing RT enabled relaxes up and absorbs all the pretty details while with RT off... It just starts freaking more and more how unrealistic it is (not the graphics itself but the lighting model). Just seeing glowing objects that are otherwise suppose to be shaded... Or reflections that are missing due to objects not being in screen space.... Shadows that are not stretched properly and at correct angle... It just all one by one starts freaking out my mind regardless of how well put and detailed it actually is...
      I just can't wait to purchase RTX 4080 and start experiencing full on ray tracing. So far PS5 has been great helping me experience the beginnings of what ray tracing is and how valuable it is even though many will scream "ray tracing is a gimmick and is not needed" I myself very well find it that games should be more and more ray tracing focused and start phasing out raster based. Just like metro exodus enhanced does.
