I like your gaming comparisons but couldn't you just put settings, RT, and resolution on the same graph? I don't see the point scrolling so fast the menu at the start and showing a most useful graph at the end without those characteristics.
I like the way it's done. Just to provide a counter argument. These are comparisons, so the point is not so much "what settings are these" but "how do they compare on the same settings". So the settings take second place in terms of information gathered, by design. Additionaly, the settings are there to be seen if you want to see them. I did want to see the witcher settings in this video, for example, and a pause and the use of . and , keys was fine (which progresses the video one frame back and one frame forward respectively).
I like the current method since you get to see the exact settings used in detail, but guess they could also add the basic info in the charts like "1080P / Ultra Preset / RT High etc / DLSS xxx"

there is a single card fan by zotac for the 4060 that is horrible. It runs super hot...there may be some nice 2 fan designs though.

If you don't understand computers very well, you will think I'm wrong. That thing runs super hot. All the single fan design cards with modern GPUs do. Even some of the dual ones.

GPU usage get 97-99% most of the time (1440p), which means gpu is utilizing properly!
And before rtx 4060, I had used gt 1030, gtx 1650, rtx 3060 and all of them were low profile (only gt 1030 had passive cooling, others have single fan) so yes I pretty much know how hot can it get!
But RTX 4060 solo is f****y optimized!
And yes, 65c temp is pretty much way cooler temp for a GPU that have most of time usage above 90%

What are your PSU specs? I have a 12400 and 3060 Ti combo and 750W PSU. But honestly, 650W is enough for that combo.

I thought I would regret my decision as majority is frustrated about RTX 40 series (which is also very understable) but as my personal opinion, I am happy for the performance I am getting in terms of price and power consumption!

According to MSI's own testing(a partner who makes these bloody cards), the 16gb model is 3% slower than the 8gb model.
@@TonyChan-eh3nz lol, its actually true, its literally the same, except when memory bound, but it can slower cause of daisy chained memory on same 128 bit bus, so if games are using less than 8 or 6 GB vram, but pushing that memory hard, then it could theoretically be slower..

The 4060 is amazing for mini ITX systems, the 3060 Ti/6700 XT used is better deal obviously if going regular build but for small systems the temps and size is everything.
I found a 3060 ti used for $290. Would you recommend it at that price point? I was thinking of getting a 4060 but got turned off by all the negative reviews and dlss seems not as ideal. Upgrading from a 1060 6GB btw.
$290 is an average used deal, should be the good model then like TUF, Strix or Gaming Trio. If it's some entry level dual fan model then pass on it. Recently bought TUF for $270 really good condition too.

bruh even my 1060 will let you play PCSX2 games at 4K
for RPCS3 it doesn't really matter, 4060 will be as performant as a 4090, that emulator is cpu bound, you'll need at least a +12th gen intel or Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 series with AVX512 support as a MINIMUM REQUIREMENT.
for Xenia, It is much more optimized for low end hardware as it only requires AVX2, I can run FH1 smoothly at 720p-60 with my 6yo i5-8400+1060, although something less optimized like Midnight Club LA will require more power but it runs much better on Xenia than on RPCS3

Bet the 3060Ti is a much better overclocker than the 4060, as its got a lot more CUDA cores and higher TDP.
A 3060 Ti is not great to overclock, there's a little room but not that much.
Still a great GPU and the 4060 is a bit of a joke, no doubt.

@@virtual-adam It's usually great to undervolt though! I'd definitely look into that. It's a lot of fun and my 3060 Ti (Asus TUF) runs super stable, draws less power, is cooler and faster. You'll need some Tutorials to understand everything, but it's doable.

The fact they're giving up raw performance for upscaling & fake frames (only available for current gen) and increasing the gap between midrange and high end tells you everything you need to know about ngreedia and the future of PC gaming. I think performance is not the biggest improvement of the 40 series it is the power effeciency and new features lke DLSS 3. The 4060 perform almost like 3060 Ti while having almost twice less the power. Less Power = Less Heat.

They are being criticised because the performance is very bad. Also the higher end 40 series cards MSRP are higher than the 30 series' MSRP.
The 1060 kicked the 980.
The 2060 kicked the 1080.
The 3060 is on par with the 2070.
The 4060 is better than the 3060.
The fact that they perform better with DLSS frame generation doesn't really mean anything because that is obvious and to be expected.

The power consumption is great, but that just goes to show how much they crippled this GPU out of the gate to maximize their profits. 300 dollars for a low wattage video card, this gpu will have such a niche use and be a favorite for children's builds. Best to add a hundred and go for the 6800xt if you are a serious gamer, it will destroy this card any time of week.

FSR 3 is around the corner and it promises frame gen to all GPUs, not only to AMD ones, so your frame gen argument is instantly invalid. Framegen is not a groundbreaking gaming tech nor was 4060 designed to have it, it's basically a software feature that comes with HUGE drawbacks. Nvidia has put a paywall behind a feature which could be made available to all of their cards but they want you to buy all the recent "updated" products. There is no telling what you will miss when they announce their new 5000 cards and make another gimmick you can't access with your newly bought 4090. The 4060 simply doesn't have the raw power of any GPU you can buy for the same price point and you don't need to jump through hoops and practice mental gymnastics to oppose that fact..

Shameful that a 3 year old card can beat the newer version. Though in the 4060's favor it does offer more futureproof features, runs cooler, and does do better in "some" games. I'd still take it with it's newer architecture.

After seeing this, I think I'll just hold on to my 3060ti. I have a 1080ti that is on par with it. Nvidia got stupid and greedy because they designed the 40 series cards when GPU crypto mining was very popular and thought they would not be able to keep up with demand. LOL. The 30 series were the last good GPU generation from Nvidia imo. The 40 series was a step sideways, not forward.

You can get a 7900xt for as low as 750$ and when comparing the original gtx 1080 msrp of 600$ with inflation, it totals to around 750$ today.
The 7900xt gives you 70% to 100% more frame rates than the 1080 TI, depending on the games and resolutions. So if you have a 1080, I would assume at least 80-110% or 85-115% faster

Meanwhile after over clocking my gpu with no dlss on with ultra settings on cyber punk im hitting 79 fps average and with it on im at 145 on quality. You guys need to stop trashing this card . Frame gen and dlss 3 is the shit along with an insanely efficient card for 300 . That beats the fuck out of a game that people use for testing. People want to see bigger numbers but don’t understand technology is more the just making a bigger number . It’s called efficiency

Maybe its a BIOS setting. If a component is running slower than it should then its normally a setup problem in there in my experience. It says a 12700 should draw 180w when in turbo.
Which motherboard do you have? and CPU cooler? Something in the BIOS or the CPU temps are not letting it consume more than 120w-125w.... which is effectively the PL1 power limit. With some motherboards you can either override the PL1 limits altogether, or you can set a higher power limit for PL1 and PL2.
If you're trying to run the 12700f with the stock cooler, then the temps are capping the clock frequency.

@@user-je9ew7ld5d Hey don't know if this will still help but try changing the fan setting in bios. on my sons motherboard i realised that if the fan setting is set to stock cooler it wont allow maximum power draw until you set it to tower cooler or above. Hope this helps

The performance is obviously laughable, but I sure like its power efficiency. A 4070, for example, while significantly faster than a 3060 Ti draws the same amount of power which means less heat. For me that's an important metric.

Rising electricity bills per unit is ONLY reason to consider RTX 40 series if you a dont even own any RTX style GPU. My GTX 1060 6GB should hold on for another 3-5 years easily.

This is a little more impressive when you realise this is a laptop GPU going up against a last gen desktop GPU.
The laptop and desktop 4060, unlike most 40 and 30 series GPUs, have identical chips, cuda cores, and power limits, so they're basically the same card.
they are pretty much the same but with different frequencies, so it consumes less power. Problem is that this makes it a little bit worse than the desktop version, still very good cards for gaming on 2023

but its not a laptop chip, a laptop chip won't be allowed to consume 100+ watts for run at 2000+ Mhz frequency, in laptop setting it would be more than 30% slower than 3060ti, cuda cores and cache are not the only thing toned down in laptops, biggest victim is clock speed..

Laptop 4060s can effectively go above 100w depending on the type of workload, and they can also easily go beyond 2000mhz thanks to the smaller architecture ... they would just not reach the exact same clocks as the desktop versions. Even 1650s Laptop can get spikes to almost 2000mhz before they start heating too much and slowing down ,of course all by themselves , from stock config.

Yes look at the tests it's much better, the BEST budget card you can get. I have one. Runs Alan Wake II higher than the 6700, 7600 AMD, 3060 12gb, and 4060 ti even. It's a beast.
