    Hi there! Does the T-wave mean another signal was sent but just for relaxation? Because it looks the same as P-Wave which is a signal coming from SA node.

    • @InteractiveBiology
      @InteractiveBiology  Рік тому +4

      Yes, it does look somewhat similar to the P wave, but it represents opposite things happen. One shows depolarization and the other shows depolarization. So why do they look "similar"? It has to do with the fact that the EKG is really a simple representation of very complex processes happening. Depolarization and repolarization both have to do with the movement of charge. And when you put the ekg electrodes on your skin, it detects that movement of charge and displays it as the two bumps that are the P and T wave. If we were recording the electrical activity in the heart muscle cells directly, it would look very different. Not sure if that helps or not. Hopefully it did.

    Thank you for a clear defintion of what happens during the exam. When the patient is in a panic type situation and high stress or fright, should they need some time to relax before taking this exam? And or if you take the ECG under intense stress could it affect the reading in that moment? What are the ideal situations as to when to take the exam?
