    helps explain why calcium channel blockers are given for atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation but why don't they give them for vtach or vfib? Also what are the names of drugs that block calcium channels? Thanks for the great videos!

    • @InteractiveBiology
      @InteractiveBiology  Рік тому +1

      Hi Megan. Calcium channel blockers help to slow down the heart rate by reducing the conduction of electrical impulses through the atria. With Tach and Fib, the main problem is with the ventricles and slowing down the heart rate wouldn't necessarily be helpful and could even be harmful in some cases. And some of the drugs are Amlodipine, Diltiazem, Verapamil and Nifedipine.
