Hello Sir, i just found similar glue, it's Desmacoll brand PU312 glue and it's similar than those above. Store/online store is in Estonia, i just bought two cans and product is ok, this is easy option for european customers at least, i live in Finland and it took about one week to get these on my doorstep. Thank you for the link en.lial.biz/sar-306e-desmokol-1kg?tag=adhesive. I bought 2 kg because the shipping was only $10 US more for 2. Total was $69. The glue was only $10 per 1kg can. It is the only place I could find for the heat activated glue. It is in Russian Federation. I'm sure it will take 2-3 weeks but no hurry now. I'm in Nevada USA
Nicely done, the part at the end when you demonstrate how awesome the bond is between materials really proves that; this heat activated glue creates what can only be described as a "Superbond" between these upholstery materials. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. These bonded materials ain't never comin' apart.
A suggestion to anyone learning, buy the course immediately! I've had them for about a month and learn more every time I watch them. It's a great deal with more information than you can imagine! Thank you for making them Mr. Cesar you're just awesome. 😎🤙
Here in California there are so many restrictions on products that nothing really works. From glues to tape. It's all junk now. I could watch you all day. Many days I do. Lol. Love you!! ❤ Thank you so very much.
It looks mad expensive! I used to get it just from local chemistry company for 25-30$ per gallon, but old man dyed and his son sold it ,so I have quarter gallon left ))) I am using that clear polyurethane glue for reupholstering vintage racing bicycle saddles for some time 12 years or so,some old russian shoemaker taught me that ( like a ninja shit) ))

Once I watched a youtube video that called my attention. It happened in a car factory. A robot places a leather cover over a dashboard. After being laid over the upholsterer starts out applying heat (using a hair dryer) over this leather cover and it was glued down as magic. I got surprised. Fortunately, in a few seconds I could see a corner of the leather cover where clearly showed a kind of heat activated glue was spread over.
Dear Cechaflo, I have been working with polyurethane glue for about 12 years and mine to you, as well as your subscribers .. buying this glue in shoe shops buy a hardener for it, this is especially important for hot areas and then the temperature resistance increases .., I add a hardener
Hello, it’s still mandatory, for gluing on the surface that the sun affects and they are subjected to strong heat, use a hardener for polyurethane adhesive

Still loving your videos! Your early videos used contact cement extensively. Do you now prefer the Polyurethane glue to these shaped and stretched covered parts (like dashes - molded door or arm rests)? Is there a time and a place where you prefer contact cement over this product? Is the poly urethane more 'workable' - is it more forgiving if you have to mold leather to holes and openings / corners etc.? Thank you for your many years of fine videos!
Regarding the polyurethane glue I am still on testing trying to find the best to be applied on car upholstery. A time ago I was watching a in a factory upholstery video and I realized the operator was handling a heat gun over a dashboard cover. Accidentally, I saw the reverse side of the leather cover and I realized there was a kind of glue that would be activated by heat. After that I also realized some russian car upholsterers use heat activated glue. I am doing my research on polyurethane heat activated glue that is used in the shoemaking industry. In some jobs I have used it in small hollow areas. ua-cam.com/video/lY8LhODURZM/v-deo.html I also have used it on these samples I have in the shop. What is the name of that glue? Some people as suggest product like dual-88 that look good but when I read the instruction it sound more like contact glue... I like the idea of heated activated that allow you to be able to place the fabric correctly before it glue. Very cool!
I am located in Mexico and trademarks are different. I purchase it from different small local suppliers. This glue is used in the manufacturing of shoes and tennis shoes (this is the key to find the product) In the first anchored comment of this video there is a list of different products worldwide. It will be necessary to do our own research in order to find a good one that suits our own requirements. By reading the description the glue you mentioned is for upholstery but it should be considered in the range of regular glues. It is not heat activated glue. rhadhesives.com/product/buy-duall-88/ ua-cam.com/video/o2xeezdF8Ss/v-deo.html
But is this glue two-component or single-component? If the temperature in the car exceeds the activation temperature, does the glue become activated again? Thanks for your attention.
As far as I know, it is two-component. The glue crystals are dissolved in a kind of solvent. Once the glue is heat activated it dries and sticks. It is the same glue used to stick the tennis shoes' soles. Imagine tennis shoes are used over hot surfaces pavement where people walk everyday.
Do not miss next video where I will demonstrate how useful is this method wrapping in leather a real door panel. By watching some videos on youtube I've realized this is one method some factories and car trimmers use it for dashboards, consoles, etc.

Once this glue is heat activated it does not effect anymore. Imagine this glue is used for shoemakers to stick shoes and tennis shoes' insoles and a person should be walking on the sidewalks and pavement everyday.
Both of them are good and useful. We can never leave aside our traditional upholstery yellow contact cement. The polyurethane glue eases the sticking process in certain jobs such as dashboards, consoles, door panels, etc. The contact cement is softer and more flexible if I would use it on a headliner.
I have not done much job in Alcantara. But, the yellow glue works out good. ua-cam.com/video/nRnGl70FVPk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/o2xeezdF8Ss/v-deo.html
It is heat activated polyurethane glue. Names are different in each country. In the first anchored comment of this video there is a list of similar products. You would need to do your own research to find a good one that suits your requirements. Some suppliers offer assistance to the customers.
Wouldn't this glue turn loose if car windows were up and inside temp rises up over 100 degrees F and all the hard work you have done would come unglued? This type of glue would be better for shoe making I think. You tell me if I'm right?
The more heat the more strength in adhesion. As I mention in the youtube description this glue is mostly used in the shoemaking industry (tennis shoes and shoes). Imagine if it bonds a shoe that is used on hot or rainy days enduring daily use. My personal opinion is this glue is much stronger thar ordinary yellow glues.
@@lewmutchler3472 This adhesive reacts to heat to activate its bonding property. It is the same glue used to fasten/bond the sole to the body of tennis shoes or another shoes. The factories take the shoes in a kind of oven to activate the glue. Once it is bonded it will be very difficult to unstick. I got inspired on a video when in a car factory the upholsterer is using a hair dryer over a leather cover doing the sticking process.
i live in a hot climate. tried bonding vinyl to plastics with basic super trim adhesives and stuff but in the baking heat it just softens up and breaks loose eventually. my dash board will be to hot to touch, 150+ degrees fahrenheit in the summer. so im sure this would not work so well if its heat activated at 80C. any other suggestions?
Most of these shoemaking glues are heat activated at 80 C° as a minimum. After the first heat application the glue dries and cannot be activated anymore. The question is the more heat the better or the more heat it unsticks. Some tennins shoes are vivid testimonials under the sunrays.Till now, as there are too many local trademarks I do not know which one is the best. It would be necessary to test them to the hardest heat for quite a while.

Hello Cesar, first things first: Huge thanks for doing what you are doing. Your videos and work have inspired me to learning sewing that I always wanted to do, so I have just bought a heavy duty domestic sewing machine. I am trying to follow your lessons with my work, but there is two things that I would like to ask you about: 1. My machine is capable of doing 4mm longest stitches. In many examples, such as steering wheel cover you are making 5mm stitches. Is it okay to create this kind of stuff with smaller stiches? Or maybe there is way to modify the machine parts to increate the stitch length? 2. In the needle and thread video you are mention type "0" as regular thread thickness for upholstery. I was trying to google that but I couldn' t find what that type "0" is. I have bought some "regular" upholstery thread online but it seems to be thicker than what you are using. Could you explain what kind of thread you are using?
1) 4 mm is also ok. Very difficult to modify the stitch length. It implies alterations of an eccentric mechanism. 2) Polyester thread 'Zero size' (for european/basting stitches) is a measure used in Mexico. If I am right it corresponds to 138 size (English version) www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=polyester-thread-138
So to ask the shop about this we need to ask for polyurethane glue? Most of the shops around here use rubber adhesive which is not the greatest for hot climates...
As we know trade marks are different in each country. You would need to find out for the polyurethane glue used in the shoemaking industry which is activated with heat. It is the same glue used to bond outer insoles to the other part of the boddy of tennis shoes. The shoemakers put these parts into a kind of press and oven to activate the glue.
I have tried those. They don't work good
Nicely done, the part at the end when you demonstrate how awesome the bond is between materials really proves that; this heat activated glue creates what can only be described as a "Superbond" between these upholstery materials. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. These bonded materials ain't never comin' apart.

I did a dash swap and tried to use some #77 spray adhesive and it had a chemical reaction so I ripped it off and ended up here... thanks....
Hello, it’s still mandatory, for gluing on the surface that the sun affects and they are subjected to strong heat, use a hardener for polyurethane adhesive
You are right, there are adhesion promoters to get much more efficiency.

What happens when that interior sits in the hot sun for a day? Does the glue become tacky again?
Once this glue is heat activated it does not effect anymore. Imagine this glue is used for shoemakers to stick shoes and tennis shoes' insoles and a person should be walking on the sidewalks and pavement everyday.
Out standing great work asusual.5🌟
I will show how useful is this glue on a next video.
Is this better or worse than contact cement?
Both of them are good and useful. We can never leave aside our traditional upholstery yellow contact cement.
The polyurethane glue eases the sticking process in certain jobs such as dashboards, consoles, door panels, etc.
The contact cement is softer and more flexible if I would use it on a headliner.

80 C is 176 Fahrenheit
@@Cechaflo Thank you for your reply.
@@kennedy67951 thank you for your question also
i live in a hot climate. tried bonding vinyl to plastics with basic super trim adhesives and stuff but in the baking heat it just softens up and breaks loose eventually. my dash board will be to hot to touch, 150+ degrees fahrenheit in the summer. so im sure this would not work so well if its heat activated at 80C. any other suggestions?

I am trying to follow your lessons with my work, but there is two things that I would like to ask you about:
If I am right it corresponds to 138 size (English version)

En Mexico hay muchas marcas diferentes. Yo uso 'plastigon'. Este pegamento es para zapatería.
