This made me really uncomfortable.... Its not the differing vocals.... Or the style.. Its the length.. It left me wanting more... It left me with a void... Feeling empty almost.
+Garrett Dalton (maddog1304) Exactly how I feel, e x a c t l y. I'm in love with it, just because of all the sound being led, not by complexity, but emotion. :))
for me, the imperfection of his voice makes it beautiful. add to that the emotion in his voice and the power and depth of the lyrics - La Dispute is such a phenomenal band. they give me chills every time.
It's annoying how many complain about his voice. Sorry it's not auto tuned bullshit. It's raw and emotional, and thats why his songs are. He's singing about love, marriage, divorce and depression, not just sex, drugs and money. It's almost like he's expressing poetry with music, and you listen closely, you notice the pain and hurt in his voice. I love this band, they've gotten me through so much. Thank you boys.
at first the vocals kinda... turned me off but it's not a "song" in the conventional way tbh, it's more like spoken poetry?? sort of like an acquired taste but once you get used to the (lack of) melody and the rough vocals its just gorgeous
For everyone saying he can't sing: he's not really TRYING to. He's telling a story. If you don't like it, don't listen. He's more famous than you for a reason.
is it just me, or is La Dispute's music always better on blast in your head phones, rather than out loud ? like youre in a separate world from everyone else, a better world. like, you can focus on the music without worrying about everybody else. just the music.
What I like best about this track is that it's not a conventional song and you can still hear the raw talent coming from the band. Even though he's technically 'screaming' the words still have musical notes to them, which most songs done in this fashion no longer have today. And the music itself is different, original, haunting.
yo am i the only one who *DID* love this on first listen? [it helps that i'm really into (post/)hardcore, emo, &c - my fav thing in music is raw emotion]
I don't understand people saying they dislike the vocalist......his AMAZING vocals are a large part of what make the song and band AMAZING. So unique and passionate. AMAZING
The build up as his voice gets more and more passionate is just amazing. I understand that harsher vocals aren't for everyone, but that same effect would be difficult to achieve with cleans.
I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes, first time hearing these and this song truly got to me, it's so pure and real and you can hear the pain in his voice. Amazing
Really good lyrics, really hard music to get into (in my opinion). I imagine.. doing this is kinda difficult. I have mixed emotions. But I keep listening to it :/
Now this is really based from his life. Jordan has gone through a lot in his life and his music has helped me through a lot. When I went to his first concert it was me and 4 others standing in the cold for a hour. (Ironically I met my first love while waiting for him) he is one of the most humble people you will EVER meet. When I saw him I couldn't hold back and just had to hug him. Just I can go on and on about Jordan and la dispute. All their music will grow on you.
A lot of people find his voice annoying but i enjoy the fact that it sounds like it could be played in a poetry cafe, and the way his voice sounds is just brilliant for the emotional level which he needs to put in the song. These and Touche Amore are brilliant.
I thought I hated this at first but then it grew on me and that seems impossible for a 2 minute song but wow was this a lot of emotion for such a short song
This gives a pretty bad image to the band being the most popular song. I love La Dispute, and this song is algoods as an intro to Somewhere or starting a set, but that's kinda it. If you heard this you'd expect them to be a typical post hardcore band, but if you've listened to any other song (bar a few) you would know you are very misguided. Listen to other songs by this band before judge them, in both cases of if you like them or not, as this song does not truly represent La Dispute.
I love them like I love brand new. It's almost impossible to choose a favorite song because they're all so good. I love andria as well and you and I in unison a lot. They have a lot of good songs. Such small hands is so little of them
His voice is definitely something to get use to. You either love it or hate it. It's like "broken" (for lack of a better term) In my opinion, his voice is adorable and I love it. Regardless though, I don't see how anyone could hate the lyrics. They're so passionate and deep and meaningful.
I'm not a huge fan. But last month, I saw these guys live with my ex, who was a fan of them. I was in front row, when they came on, everyone get excited. They werent even Headlining. Anyway, after their set, I saw a girl crying, Bawling. I asked her whats wrong, because I wanted to be nice Her wrists had A LOT of scars. She looked me in the eyes, and told me that La Dispute saved her life. I thought about it. Words on a page can save a life. They saved some girl, and my ex too. Thank you guys...
Mannnn this brings back memories. Lil 15 year old me going to shows on friday nights in my little famous stars and straps tees 😭 They were the only local band that didn't totally suck. Miss those days. They were the good ones ❤
Brings back sooooo much..... 09-11....the years I almost died....lived in a blackout....sadly those were the best times of my life.... :\ oh how I wish I could go back....
this is the first song i ever heard from la dispute. and it will continue to be my favorite. Along with I See Everything. such passion. i wish other people would just LISTEN to this band, and not only how his voice sounds. i wish they could HEAR his passion, FEEL the lyrics.
"I think you saw me confronting my fear/ it went up with the bottle and went down with the beer/ and I think you oughtta stay away from here/ there are ghosts in the walls and they crawl in your head through your ear" Encapsulates substance absuse in a relationship so well
The voice makes this powerful. It makes you know there's something tearing him apart, and he's so emotional he's in between yelling and talking and singing. Don't say something's terrible when you don't understand it.
I know people here are vibing on the raw emotion of the song.... but ever since someone said that he sounds like Gene from Bob's Burgers, I can't NOT hear it.
Post-hardcore. As for bands: Hotel Books, some stuff of BMTH, A Day To Remember (some punk-ish, some metalcore songs too), flatline, dandelion hands (more spoken genre), nothing, nowhere. Just try some of that, idk.
It's post hardcore. The other guy gave you lame bands. Some better ones are At The Drive-In, Hüsker Du, NoMeansNo, Slint, and Refused. Those are the 90's-early 2000's post hardcore bands that really helped shape the genre. If you listen to La Dispute enough you can easily hear how Slint and Refused really inspired their music directly. As for newer/new-ish post hardcore bands you could listen to La Dispute, Touché Amoré, Mclusky, The Fall of Troy, Gospel, Circle Takes The Square, and Evny. Those are just some beginners, listen to those and see what you like and eventually go on to exploring to the genre yourself if you like anything you hear. Glad to help.
Nice Thank you good sir, I literally laugh at my own comment. (I like those bands, it just isn't really post-hardcore in general ways.) Cheers, i love these recommendations myself.
Grant Varadan just because it's short? in some punk genres the usual song length is between 0,5 and 2,5 minutes, so I cannot really agree with your reasoning (if that should be you reasoning).
Guys, this guy isn't meant to sound pleasing to the ear. He is deliberately trying to sound broken and and emotional.

+Kakusareta ' its beautifully sad

+Kakusareta ' minus the beautiful.
+Kakusareta ohmygods Try listening to Goner by Twenty One Pilots
Let's hang the jury Actually, tøp is one of my favourite band... And I love this song! :3
1 minute and 35 seconds of pure fucking emotion...thats a strong short song....
I wish it was longer
@@haleyxhorrorrlisten to nobody not even the rain and they transition perfectly
This made me really uncomfortable.... Its not the differing vocals.... Or the style.. Its the length.. It left me wanting more... It left me with a void... Feeling empty almost.
+Garrett Dalton (maddog1304) This is the first song of the album. Play through it.
+Garrett Dalton (maddog1304) Exactly how I feel, e x a c t l y. I'm in love with it, just because of all the sound being led, not by complexity, but emotion. :))
listen to Such Small Hands + Nobody, Not Even the Rain haha
+William Bodie assbutt 🙄
Brroo, just like every broken promise.....
The pain in the voice is amazing
Kirston Markowski was he mad when he made this he was pretty much screaming his whatever off
He sounds like he’s going through puberty
This is one of the songs that you just want to keep on going...
+Blaine Fuhrmann agreed

This isn't the full song
look up nobody not even the rain with it dingus

I'm still listening in 2024 bruh lol
This aged beautifully. Thank you for your comment
Sounds like gene from bobs burgers, and I’m here for it. ❤
This song sucks because it ends
there is a second part called "nobody, not even the rain"
i never fucking noticed that. thank you so much.
Everything thas is beautiful because it ends lmao
Everything beautiful comes to an end eventually
No no, like I told you in your last retarded comment, this song sucks causs it sucks.
The 'pain' in his voice is so damn beautiful!
Why's it in quotations
Someone said they sound like Gene Belcher and cannot unhear it
at first the vocals kinda... turned me off but it's not a "song" in the conventional way tbh, it's more like spoken poetry?? sort of like an acquired taste but once you get used to the (lack of) melody and the rough vocals its just gorgeous
It reminds of slam poetry more so than conventional music
theyre just a well spoken passionate band
Same here. My sister was listening to this song and I thought "what's this shit?" Now I love it aha
Daniela Castillo because you were stupid af back then and not so much now :)
Welcome to the genre of skramz
Yea, he isn't singing. They call this "spoken word" and this is what makes their music so wonderful
Nah he’s singing
I only just found this song today,
holy shit,
i cant even describe how i feel right now.
this song is speaking to me on a whole new level..
Christine Hope me too...
it’s been 7 years you still listening to it?
Someone should create a 1 hour version
I think the thing i love about this song is that you get that sense of emotion in his voice and they dont tell more of a story with their music.
You serious? I tought this song was a joke?
DNLYUSEmeBIADE they are a real band with actual fans. i happen to be one.
such small hands is the worst example of them telling a story in a song
For everyone saying he can't sing: he's not really TRYING to. He's telling a story. If you don't like it, don't listen.
He's more famous than you for a reason.
Sounds like he’s a good singer tho
Gene Belcher has came a long way 🙌🙌🥳
I feel like this song and "Nobody, Not Even The Rain," should be combined instead of two songs because they connect in such a beautiful way.
They are supposed to be connected, but they are the intro and the outro of the album so that doesn't work.
is it just me, or is La Dispute's music always better on blast in your head phones, rather than out loud ?
like youre in a separate world from everyone else, a better world. like, you can focus on the music without worrying about everybody else.
just the music.

Even though he's technically 'screaming' the words still have musical notes to them, which most songs done in this fashion no longer have today. And the music itself is different, original, haunting.
auriela He's not screaming as much as trying to rap. It somehow manages to work really well, though, and the song gives me chills.
Old but sing and rap and yelling are all still linked to notes
yo am i the only one who *DID* love this on first listen?
[it helps that i'm really into (post/)hardcore, emo, &c - my fav thing in music is raw emotion]
I loved this song first listen:D
no lmao this is my first listen and i love it already-
I loved this instantly
Have listened to it 30+ times since I first heard it last week haha
I don't understand people saying they dislike the vocalist......his AMAZING vocals are a large part of what make the song and band AMAZING. So unique and passionate. AMAZING

cant wait to hear it when it's finished
+G Jones it's perfect
+Scumbag Shepard how has autism got anything to with it being a joke?
This band is so real and raw.. I can't even.
I love bands that are like this.
Nothing is like La Dispute
+Wu Fan being as an ocean is pretty similar

Amazing. You can hear the emotion in his voice, La Dispute is perfect.
I LOVE music like this. Just pure, raw emotion

Really good lyrics, really hard music to get into (in my opinion). I imagine.. doing this is kinda difficult. I have mixed emotions. But I keep listening to it :/
If you don't like it don't force yourself to listen to it xD
okrapickle I'm not forcing myself haha, I wanna listen to it because I kind of like it? I'm just kind of iffy about it at the moment.
This is not difficult music whatsoever ...ugh... it's glorified three days grace

Tia L the lyrics are shit

I really don't know how anyone could dislike this song, really it's amazing. It's full of emotion and the vocals are absolutely spot on.
this is one of those songs you could play on repeat and it'll never get old
To be honest, not a big fan of his voice, but the lyrics are amazing
I don't even like this if i'm being honest but something about the lyrics is really getting to me, I can't stop listening..
This is where all La Dispute fans begin. Good luck C;
my friend introduced me to this band yesterday, and I havent been able to stop listening to them
Now this is what music should be, ART.
i got the chills after about thirty seconds into it and now it feels as though i've shed all my skin. a very emotional shedding.

This song makes my mind go blank, eyes shut, toes curl, fists clench, and throat go dry. It's beautiful, and i love it.
This song was stuck in my head for days and I don't know how it popped up, I haven't listened to it for months
A lot of people find his voice annoying but i enjoy the fact that it sounds like it could be played in a poetry cafe, and the way his voice sounds is just brilliant for the emotional level which he needs to put in the song. These and Touche Amore are brilliant.
Howsenselessdeathhowpreciouslife covered this and it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard

i personally thought that andria was the most popular.. but oh.
Lupe Burciaga
I actually like andria a lot hahah but im pretty sure this is more popular
I love andria alot tooooo! That's probably one of my all time favorite La Dispute songs.
I love them like I love brand new. It's almost impossible to choose a favorite song because they're all so good. I love andria as well and you and I in unison a lot. They have a lot of good songs. Such small hands is so little of them

La Dispute and Hotel Books their songs are like poems tbh ❤😍
His voice is so raw, that's what helps make this song as amazing as it is
Somebody needs to enlighten me about this genre
Post-hardcore. As for bands: Hotel Books, some stuff of BMTH, A Day To Remember (some punk-ish, some metalcore songs too), flatline, dandelion hands (more spoken genre), nothing, nowhere. Just try some of that, idk.
It's post hardcore. The other guy gave you lame bands. Some better ones are At The Drive-In, Hüsker Du, NoMeansNo, Slint, and Refused. +Nice thanks for this comment, listening to slint right now and loving it.
spoken word. the world is a beautiful place and i am no longer afraid to die and touché amore are also spoken
this song sved my lyfe
Saw them live yesterday!! They are amazing!
I went to one of their concerts last night in Louisville, and they are absolutely perfect.
all the good songs are short
I love this song but I don't understand there method of singing
Their method is sadism
I happen to love his voice. it's alway so raw and he says everything so intensely with conviction. I love it.
I LOVE HIS VOICE..its like you can feel and understand every emotion that comes with every lyric
This is the song Gene from Bob's Burgers wrote after the Manatee hand puppet broken up with him 😅😅😅
I watched this because of HowsenselessdeathHowpreciouslife she did and beautiful and amazing cover on this
I grew up in the streets gunplay/street wars so I absolutely love rap (I'm an artist myself) an R&b but I love this right here!!
Don't usually like these bands. But I feel in love with this minute in a half song.
This is one of those songs that is so bad that everyone feels obligated to like it.
Or, stay with me now, its one of those songs people chose to like it because they sincerely like it.
Jesse Stuckey I think you may be onto something!
Actually, it's pretty difficult to call it a song.
Grant Varadan just because it's short? in some punk genres the usual song length is between 0,5 and 2,5 minutes, so I cannot really agree with your reasoning (if that should be you reasoning).
No it isn't a song because it's just some asshole yelling shit like "LOVER!" over the sound of some actually decent instrumentals.
The lyrics have something that I can't explain, at first I didn't like the vocals but then something change ...
I think I'm falling in love with this band , so much perfection
I absolutely love the title. I don't think it could be more perfect.
I got a Donald Trump ad on a song called such small hands. Nice.
They should rename this Donald Trump, because he has such small hands
Jaime Mah ... no
Lets be clear. This is not music. This is not a song, This is pure art. Straight from his soul.
This song is haunting... it gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. La Dispute is a great band
Lemongrab.
