A few ideas to help use up the gouache: -Scenes inspired by Candy Land (make use of all the colors) -Monochrome pages (only blues, green etc) -Random pallette generators (could be a fun challenge) -Lisa Frank inspired pages -Deep Space -Circus -Alice in Wonderland -Snails
Now how could I resist subbing when you not only painted a Shoebill, you put in a video clip of him talking? LOL: love your video style, and I'm glad I'm not the only person who rambles on. Today while recording I called gouache a zombie paint because it "reanimates" with water. Reanimate is not the word I was looking for, but I still can't think of the right one, lol. I just opened my gouache today and am a total newb so am looking forward to seeing what you come up with. If you want to stick with the bird theme, I have an African Grey Parrot who likes to hang upside down from the top bars of her cage. That is well beyond my skill level so you're welcome to it, lol.
😆 It is zombie paint! That’s so funny. Thank you for your lovely comment! I always feel like I ramble too much. 😅 An African Grey Parrot would be a fun one! Great suggestion!
Hello! I really love your painting. The shoebill is one of my favorite birds. I also have the same Jelly Gouache paints as you do, but mine comes in 18 colors :)
He’s so cute! I feel like you should just get you an Arteza gouache set(or another better quality brand) and use those, you will have to paint so much to use all that up that by the time you finish with the Himi set you’ll never wanna touch gouache again. And that would make me sad. Lol
Thanks! 😊👍 I really want to try to use it all. I think the more I use it.. the easier it will get. Then when I finally get a good gouache set I might love it more. 😅 That’s my plan anyway. Lol
I have an Arteza gouache set, it's tubes and I just fill empty palettes with it. I also have two Himi jelly gouache sets, an 18 colour and a 56 colour. I have not used the larger one because I had heard so many bad things about it drying out, going moldy, being hard to reactivate, becoming more transparent etc. But then over the last few days I have been watching videos and so many artists say positive things about reactivating jelly gouache. Now I will experiment with distilled water (apparently tap water can contribute to mold), spraying water, glycerin, alcohol, and some other tips. Hopefully something will work and my gouache will revert to its jelly consistency.
I haven’t had any issues with mold yet. Or drying out. I lightly mist my paints and I keep the box in a large plastic bag. I usually go a few weeks in between using them and they seem to stay in a tooth paste like state until I rehydrate them with a little more water misting. If they completely dry out I will make sure to do a video about it for everyone. Thanks for watching!! 😊👍
Good video! I’m thinking of doing this too, designating a specific palette to a specific sketchbook. As a challenge and to use up some paint and help with my hoarding problem 😅
Yes! My thoughts exactly! I highly recommend it. This challenge has made me feel a lot better about art supplies hoarding too. 🤭 I feel better knowing that it’s not going to waste and it’s keeping me motivated to keep painting. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
That's a lot of paint and it will go a loong way. Don't worry if it dries, you can re-activate it. It won't go bad. But it will go moldy if you try to keep it wet it with just tap water or stir it with a contaminated brush. But yeah, if you really want to use it up, you gotta think big!
It is a lot of paint. 😅 I’m curious to see how much is left once I finish filling this sketchbook. I am definitely more worried about the mold. So far nothing. I’m making sure to not over do it when I mist the paints. Hopefully that will continue. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
Hey, great video and great initiative to not waste paint and to give a full try to a new media! If you don't know what to paint, paint a cat! There is nothing cuter! :)
Wonderful bird. You make it look so easy. Idea; paint a fairy!
Thanks! I’ve never painted a fairy before. Good suggestion! 😊👍

@@artbyheather The Himi Miya Gouache Spray helps prevent the mold, they make it! Also, distilled water instead of others!
Thanks for the advice! 😊👍
