      As a musician, though I'm not on this man's level, that's about how the experience feels when you get comfortable with an instrument. It's my safe place, when I'm by myself and have a guitar in my hands.

I don't know what he gets in return. but he deserves much more than what he is getting now. long live Jeff.. may God be with you and your family.. love your work.. God bless.

    @6:24 is a Dm9, you played (D, A, F, A, C, E), followed by (G, F, A, C, G) which could be F/G but I see why it might be called a G7sus (but that 'A') chord when you follow up with G F B G. I took your lesson and learned this on guitar, so thank you!

  • @andocrates
    @andocrates 7 років тому

    You have some real underlying talent. Talent that goes beyond keyboard skills. On another note if people don't know the notes in a c major scale of the notes in a 9th chord then they will gain nothing from your vids. The rest of us have to endure lessons we learned at seven every time we watch one of the many jazz and gospel tutorial and that - is the biggest hurdle we face in the learning process. This is, at most, a four minute video.

    First, great reham man ! Sounds really good.
    I analyzed what you are actually doing, because I think that the explanation of WHY these chords work together is a bit lacking. Saying that ''It works because it's going up by a fourth'' isn't quite enough to understand what is actually going on harmonically. Trying to find chords that work on a particular note won't be enough, as you rightly pointed out.
    Here's what I got, minus all the extensions :
    Key : C major
    I - V - VI - II (m.m) - V(I on 2nd inversion) - V of IV (triton sub) - IV - III (m.m) - VI (m.m.) - II - V
    V of IV (triton sub) - IV (m.m.) - III - VI - II - V (triton sub) - I
    Only thing left to do is to go and transpose it to all 12 keys !

    Thank you so much for the clear explanation of Reharmonization. I used to think that reharmonization had to be strictly diatonic. Your approach to such a simple tune makes Mary had a little lamb sound so exotic. Even Jeff Levine s best seller piano book does not explain the concept as interestingly. . Now I have realized that one can just be free about reharmoniztion using one s personal taste. Thank you so much for being so clear. I am going to try reaching you by e mail . Thanks again my name is eddy b

    7:19 Can I think of this chord progression as a tritone substitution as well?
    If so, It's basically just the part of the circle of fifths that leads to the next ii-V-I, which then leads to the the final ii-V-I, or final tritone substitution in this case, isn't it?
    It's basically just going up to C in the circle of fifths, starting all the way down from F#, right?
