@@regalroyn1011 it's easier to do so. Video game storylines are far more profound than modern cinema, with objectively less stereotypes and clichés(no Mexican filter, for example). People want to watch films but they suck so much people prefer video games.
Unfortunately that's what AAA execs expect, so they put all their focus on branding "lore" rather than a fulfilling gaming experience. No wonder I still stick to playing Mirror's Edge.
I think the thought process behind this game was "lets just make the most 2000s-cool video game ever"
A lot of the people who made this game were from clover studios, who made games such as Okami and viewtiful joe, so yeah, it’s good to know they still got it.
Apparantly they just played a bunch of Jet Set Radio and Marvel vs Capcom and went "alright we have our style"

The concept of this game came from the Bar scene on Shaun of the Dead
I love how the plot of this game can be resumed into: an optimistic akechi gets robotic upgrades and helps futaba to take down sonic while also meeting some friends along the way
(Futaba learns how to shoot and Morgana manages to beat up a fullgrown man finally)

The amount of time shen and chai shared a braincell early in the game was high indeed

I genuinely cannot tell if i prefer the streamer or standard music and that's how you know they've done a DAMN fine job with it.
Also, there's a vaguely amogus shaped sign in the intro cinematic and i hate myself for noticing it

@@bonkgameing I am either tone deaf or had the slightest delay during my playthrough but parrying was the hardest boss I faced.
@@DapperBrick if there’s even a slight audio delay it can really mess with you. Plugging in headphones to your controller helps a lot.

Also fails to do any combos besides the basic ones and misses the beat 90% of the time but go off
Shen brings up a good point: this game just shadowdropped and it’s already guaranteed a spot in the art direction and sound design categories at the Game Awards… and other better important game awards but that’s not important
As little as I care about the Game Awards, I do hope it wins something at the end of this year

One thing I love about Hi-Fi Rush is that Chai genuinely grows as a character, and you learn that he isn't actually a dumbass, but acts reckless and overconfident to hide the fact that he's self-concious. He genuinely grows as a character and matures during the game. It's done so freaking well

Honestly shadow dropping this game is the best thing they could do, cause it let the game speak for itself and spread through word of mouth about how amazing it is.
Even when Shen leaves it paused on a room, it's not even boring because every single inch of this game is packed with SO MUCH to look at. There's Chai's idle animation, the vent animation, the fan animation, the small animation of Peppermint, and a scrolling display board with multiple propaganda posters, all of which are clever and fun to look at. And that's just ONE ROOM!

Still, the streamer version "too big to fail" is pretty good
I feel like lots of developers have dreamed about a game like this, a rhythm game that can still be a proper action game. There have been some attempts in the past, like Crypt of the Necrodancer and No Straight Roads and so on. But this is such a great execution, and I would not have expected it to come from the crew who made Ghostwire Tokyo and The Evil Within.
You zoomers don't know but most of tango is ex-clover who made God hand, Okami, and viewtiful Joe. It makes complete sense for those of us who remember.
I loved NSR, but I kind of wish it was closer to Hi-Fi here.

Just a great, fun time made by people who wanted to created something memorable and enjoyable. It's made by people who love games for people who want to play games. Complete coincidence... but it's funny that it happened the way it did.
After watching Max playing it I immediatly got it, thanks to game pass. Its a straight 10/10 off the bat and defiantly the best game of the year so far; Not counting the RE4MAKE or Dead Space Remake as their just old games with fresh coats of paint. Its got everything I love; Rock/Metal, great characters, funny jokes, amazing style and presentation, and fluid gameplay. The best XBox "Exclusive" since Sunset Overdrive (which this game actually surpassed.) I also totally ship Chai and Peppermint, cause i think they go great together and vibe more as the story goes on.
Not a shipper myself, but fuck it, their chemistry is great.
