here goes the brilliance of the edge, this song is probably his climax. How he did it? RESEARCH, experimenting. I am amazed to listen to him during interviews when he says that when they started he did not know and did not like to play guitar. Now for me personally he is the best guitar player of all times. He just uses the guitar like he uses some never before seen instrument.
I wish I had a time machine so I could re-experience that show for real, but this is close enough! Thanks SO MUCH for posting. Best U2 concert I've ever been to. 8^)
This was my second U2 concert, my first being the one of the Love Town shows at the old Point Depot Christmas 1989, Had balcony seats over looking the stage at the point, I was 16 or 17, It was so loud that my hearing only returned to normal 48 hours later!
I was on my way to the Airport to fly home to Dublin from the States and this was Broadcast Live all over the States. I listened to it on my Walkman the whole trip.
Bono playing Judas ("Hey, Judas, come on!"), the Edge standing in for Jesus, and the camera representing God. Rock-and-roll parable at its finest. "Is this rock-and-roll?!" Well, yes, Bono, it is -- but it's so much more. You and the rest of the band elevated the genre as an art form.
I was at the show they played in Cork Ireland 3 days earlier - my best memory of my life so far was being there - like nothing I ever experienced before or since!!
@callummcphail Yes, probably the best U2 gig ever, Im 39 and have been a fan since I was 16, I've heard just about every live performance there is. This is my favorite one of them all, the whole show!
You lucky bastard. This is by far the best U2 concert I've heard, either live or on tape. The show from Sydney is crap compared to this.
The energy and feeling that night from U2 was like overload.
This is u2 maximum inspiration era . Until the end of the world lyrics are awesome . Zoo tv . Achting baby
still have this recorded live on tape off radio 1 from 93 with johnny walker commentating!
yes!
John peel was on after. He was amused by the confessionals
Listened to this on radio one 2 weeks after seeing them at Roundhay Park Leeds 14th Aug 93
Incredible 🔥

4 persons don't like, probably the rolling stones saying "jesus christ, we can't reach that high level of performance !"

Was that the concert in 1989 where Bono said “let’s go away and dream it up all over again” and people thought the band was breaking up?

This was cool af. I wish I could've seen the show live, but unfortunately I wasn't alive back then

HOW, I mean HOW, did he have the idae of the guitar intro and then the guitar riff?
have a good think... listen... absorb... think... and then re-comment you...
@4rthurKnight to me it sounds like he says: Hey judas . COME ON! in beginning.
