Roy Jones Junior takes on the then undefeated Australian for all the gold. American Airlines Arena, Miami 🇺🇸 02/02/2002 #royjonesjr #GlennKelly #lightheavyweight #boxing #unstoppable
Good grief...hands behind his back, yet Jones comes up with a quick counter knockout shot. I'll bet that every trainer watching the fight either cringed or threw up a little in their mouths when they saw that. Jones Jr broke every rule in boxing, and he broke them successfully. He is truly an anomaly.
it's talent you just can't teach, everybody else would get knocked out trying to imitate his style. Keeping your hands up, your body upright and and your balance in your centre? That's just annoying limitations for Roy Jones. Your any other boxer it is their bread and butter.
I never ever stopped appreciating him I was always stunned at how easily ppl forgot, he is the GOAT p4p, we are blessed to be graced with him in our time.
rshadio wrong, his skill was speed dependent, but it followed rules of its own, the optimal way to fight when you are super fast IS NOT THE OPTIMAL WAY TO FIGHT FOR EVERYONE! MORONS LIKE YOU DONT GET THIS! If Roy was more text book he would have been a worse fighter in his prime, why throw a jab or a jab cross or a series of jabs when you can quite easily land a KO lead left hook? People like you are dumb parrots. Sure he may have lasted a bit longer with a more orthodox skill set but boxing is more about what you can do while at your best vs the best of your generation at their best He not only is a very skillful fighter, but he had to create his own "textbook" on how to fight optimally when you are obserdly fast He is the GOAT and it doesn't matter who he loses to now, because we all saw what he could do in his prime. Hes just enjoying himself now so what if he loses doesn't change the footage of him in his prime.

Someone should have reminded the commentary that Jones already beat Hopkins. But Hopkins wasn't in his prime they say, well neither was Roy yet he beat Hopkins with a broken hand! Prime for prime for me it's Jones Jr anyday of the week. Few fighter's were ever at this level of talent that Jones had in his prime. One of the best to ever do it.
This is the first fight I saw of Roy Jones Jr and remember being in awe. I just wish he'd quit with the money he must've made and not kept fighting. He will always be a legend to me
Yeah, when he started showing signs of loosing his speed, i knew it was time for him to quit. He has great style, but it's all dependent of his incredible speed
roy literally threw a knockout punch from behind his back. I don't know why roy isn't seen on the same level as tyson honestly. The stuff he did we will probably never see again.
glen looked like he mayve been a little more confident for a portion of the second round and seemed to adapt a little better in the fifth after he got rocked... until jones rocked him again in the sixth round that is. glenn looked like he came out in round 4 trying to be more of an aggressor, but became more weary somewhat soo after. he looked like more of an aggressor in round seven too at times, but roy seemed to consistently have something in store for him.
Roy Jones Jr had a lot of swag and style with his fighting it was very entertaining. The boxing game is missing that now nobody has swag and style the way Roy Jones Jr and a young Sugar Ray Leonard did.I miss those kinds of stylish fighters
The only time I ever really saw Jones jr work hard to knock out anyone quickly was in the 2nd Montel Griffin fight. Jones jr was so good that he didn't need to go at these guys hard.
"We've got somewhere else to go" I'm pretty sure he meant hit him somewhere else other than the body because Kelly was expecting more body shots. Not literally, but I don't know, that,s just what I got from it
To be honest that last shot was just a glance shot. Kelly was looking for a reason to go down and end this fight and that was his chance. He already realized he had no answer for Roy and was over it. If you don't believe me go watch it again and again. That last punch by Roy wouldn't knock my sister out and I love Roy and feel in his prime he's the best ever. The GOAT you hear me
If George Foreman was commentating you’d hear, “Oooo! The Body! The BODY!” Lol! “We got somewhere else to go!” Means he’s looking for that same punch, don’t throw it. Hit him at another angle!” I don’t think it was literally somewhere else to go.
Sit in front of Jones he will pick you apart, pressure him and keep him moving back and you take away almost everything he has, allowing his the distance he wants just shows the ability of the guys he fought and looked good against.
steward just roasting tf out of kelly the whole fight lol
great comedy!
Lmao hard!!
😂😂😂
He was cracking me up 😂😂😂
Yea, he was.
one of a kind ending to this fight that only Roy Jones Junior could pull off
Good grief...hands behind his back, yet Jones comes up with a quick counter knockout shot. I believe, after 2 rounds, R.J.J. could have revealed his opponents I.Q. correctly. 😁
it's talent you just can't teach, everybody else would get knocked out trying to imitate his style. Keeping your hands up, your body upright and and your balance in your centre? That's just annoying limitations for Roy Jones. Your any other boxer it is their bread and butter.
Exactly it's just ridiculous, I would never tell someone to imitate Roy. Just enjoy it ... its only 1 Roy
Yea damn right
Muhammad Ali broke every "rule" in boxing. Those with enough talent after that just copied him a little.
Roy in his prime was *greatness*
We dont appreciate him until he is gone.. No one else is doing any of this..
I never ever stopped appreciating him I was always stunned at how easily ppl forgot, he is the GOAT p4p, we are blessed to be graced with him in our time.
Roys a idiot right now. Hes embarrassing his HOF name. Exposed as a fighter with speed and nothing more. His skill level was never truly there
rshadio
wrong, his skill was speed dependent, but it followed rules of its own, the optimal way to fight when you are super fast IS NOT THE OPTIMAL WAY TO FIGHT FOR EVERYONE!

Roy Jones was just absolutely incredible in his prime, truly one of the greatest fighters of all time p4p.
I say he's the best ever pound for pound
@@TheLionaaa he was even better than Floyd in his prime
@@Jay23445 Both were in their prime at the same time and there was no comparison.

As a supermiddleweight and light heavyweight he is without a doubt
And Kelly is one of the worst I ve ever seen.

In his prime, the best I've seen in my lifetime. Was too good for his own good at times.
He should of quit after Ruiz fight
I say that all of the time. He should 've retired after he embarrassed Ruiz!
@@JustMeFerd or he could have fought Evander Holyfield or rematchedv James Toney at heavyweight but he choose not to.
The best light heavyweight in the history, period.
Nah. A motivated Tarver would have given Roy trouble and/or straight up beaten him at any time.
@@carltonbanks5470 and half of Roy Jones Jr's opponents that he beat would mess Tarver up, he ain't definitely beating B-Hop

Glen Kelly's Professional Record: 31 - 3, 17 by Knockout!
Roy treated him like he was an amateur...
greatest fighter of all time
Yeah he one of them that's for sure
the commentary here was awesome too. Emanuel with the technical breakdown of the fight and the other guy cracking jokes every once in a while.
Roy Jones and Iron Mike, most entertaining Boxers ever to watch!
33 yrs old jones was insane
ive never been into boxing til i say roy now i can enjoy boxing matches

Jones Jr. UNBELIEVALBE! probably the most exciting fighter.
RJJ punching faces, stomachs and boxing manuals . . .

Yeah, when he started showing signs of loosing his speed, i knew it was time for him to quit. He has great style, but it's all dependent of his incredible speed
Roy Jones Jr "And still at his best."
Absolutely amazing.
Roy Jones Jr show the best position all the times.
Not even Ali could match Roy
Ali footwork was far better in my opinion
Both great footwork and showman habilities
Roy Jones Jnr - great footwork, spend and strength combined with intelligence and creativity that surpasses the rigid form of boxing.
Yeah, he swings and dance all over the place, just incredible, also that left hook's speed is something else
Kelly is a boxer not a fighter. You can't be scared to fight if you are a fighter. No killer instinct.
That makes a ton of sense. Rjj is just a faster boxer. He was totally out of his comfort zone. You can see it in his body language and presentation
How did Kelly get into the ring with Jones is beyond me.
07:01... What was the guy like with an "old mobile" doing in the background? hahahahha
Roy Jones Jr. is handsome... and the best, for all time...
hard for anybody to beat Jones because of the caliber fighter he was
Jones should have been fighting the Brits, the German, Hopkins and Jirov during this period. These fights were a waste of everyone's time.
he fought and beat Hopkins
Have to give credit to the opponent though. He kept on fighting even though Jones was dominating the fight
28:20 From another world 🌍... WTF!!
Truly a freak of nature. I doubt we'll see his like again
King jones
No one like Roy in his prime.
The commentators are very disrespectful to Kelly. I know he is not in Roy's league, but come on...
roy literally threw a knockout punch from behind his back. I don't know why roy isn't seen on the same level as tyson honestly. The stuff he did we will probably never see again.
Manny Stweard, 9:18: Breaking down boxing science.
