Nice video. I am from Colombia and I lived in MHK for almost 4 years. I have good memories of the city and now back in my country, eventually my mind goes back to this nice place that opened its doors for me and my wife. Thanks for the video and thanks Manhattan.
I am from Saint Augustine, Florida and I left because it is just too expensive. I moved to Kansas, and eventually Manhattan... which, isn't cheap either, but, I absolutely love living in Manhattan and I am so glad that I made this decision.
Thank you so much for this video. It brought happy & warm memories.. I attended K State in 1987 & graduated 12/88. This SoCal / LA native was made to feel very welcomed as a student in her 30's finishing an undergraduate degree. I lived there until 6/92 while taking graduate classes & working in the Cintroller's office in Anderson Hall. Manhattan & K State holds a special place in my ❤. Go Wildcats. Purple pride. 💯👍💜
I went to High School with Bridget. The town has changed a lot since then. I know she's been back to visit many times though so she's seen how much it's changed.
14:57 that building near the bottom of the smokestack is where the Mark II reactor is located. I don’t how often it’s used to generate electricity, but it’s used primarily for research. I went on a tour of it years ago. Even when not active, it had a very faint blue glow.
@@LizZy-lp4zi Thanks so much. Is there a bad side of town to avoid. Someone tried to scare me out of visiting JC. That was several years ago. Things change.. But it looks like it's fairly clean like I remembered it.. I had good memories of JC and Manhattan too.
@@sjackson1739 I've been in JC for 7 years, my husband for over 10.. we've yet to have any problems with anyone. Bad side of town? Not that I'm aware. Manhattan is wonderful too! Great place to visit! The closest Dunkin Donuts which reminds me of home :)
I live in JC also. It does still have a bad rep, but it's undeserved. It's cleaned up a lot from how it was 20-30 years ago. Feel plenty safe walking around at night. I think Manhattan has worse crime now in comparison. Bad areas (rather than a side) are more a matter of poor areas, houses in bad shape rather than dangerous.
The Little Apple. A city that is fully capitalizing on name recognition and thriving. A small town that serves up a slice of big city life in a way that only a small town can. Other small towns that share their names with big cities would do well to learn from the success of places like this and Athens, Georgia. I'd like to see then make their own version of Times Square and give it that classic, down-home Great Plains feel.
Ah, MHK! 5:17 if you notice the K-177 shield overhead at 4th and Pierre, it’s not the normal Sunflower shield. lol It’s been that way for at least the past 8-10 years. I think the city did that. K-177 proper begins just past 3rd Street. Pierre eastbound becomes the left lane of southbound K-177. The on ramp from Fort Riley Blvd becomes the right lane. K-18 also shares pavement from Ft Riley Blvd with K-177 until just past McDowell Creek Rd on the other side of the Kansas River. It then turns east towards Westmoreland while K-177 heads south towards Council Grove south of I-70. If you turn onto Deep Creek Road about a mile south of the river, you’ll get to Pillsbury Crossing (about 5-6 miles south). The creek actually flows over the road. It’s a cool sight. :) EMAW! (Every Man A Wildcat) ;) I graduated from K-State in 2002.
Thank you for the video, which shows a large portion of K-State campus (except the sports complex/football stadium in the north). The western half of Manhattan featuring lots of parks is very, very beautiful! The length of this video can be easily doubled.
1) In this video, did you drive around the Kansas Sate University campus? 2) Do you plan to go to Lawrence, KS? If so, will you drive around the University of Kansas?

Nice ride in Manhattan KS
Didn't know there's another Manhattan in Kansas too the home of the Kansas state wildcats
Saw the great Bridget Everett talk fondly of this place. Described it with so much love, had to see it.

Looks nice! Love the tree canopy
Thank you for these videos! I'm originally from RI but I live in Junction City and these videos allow me to show my family where I live!
How is Junction City these days? I lived there in the early 70's.😅
@@sjackson1739 It's cozy and quiet, just the way I like it!

Little Manhattan.
Its nickname is actually the Little Apple. :)
I have to say Manhattan, Kansas when talking about this Manhattan.

Can you do a video of the Stagg Hill neighborhood soon? ;-) Would love to see how it looks in 2023..
so glad i moved here

Drove on the edge of it in a few parts. The Lawrence, KS video will feature a thorough drive through parts of the University of Kansas.
I remember the road before the mall was built.
Home of Kansas State Wildcats
Manhattan looks different from when I came for a football game in 2021
Does it look better or worse in person?..lol
