bravo sir your due diligence is deeply appreciated. liked shared and shared some more. cheers m8 btw mode one all day all day! i never get tired of the question why is your right stick limp? my fave answer same reason your left stick is limp.. Zing!!! waga waga waga! lol
The most comprehensive and honest review I have seen on this radio yet, keep up the awesome work!
no build in charging, weird. That’s annoying, glad I went for the tx16s
I was reeding on the t16s internal charging apparently if one of your 1865 are a little off balance it'll only charge up one cell and in some cases OVER charge them😅
F Jumper; no second chances.
TX16S
@@cowboyfpv2464 as far as i have seen, the modded Jumper t16 wil not charge balance. the Radiomaster tx16s wil charge balance correctly.
@@cowboyfpv2464 nope
not really a problem is it? i mean we have quality chargers yes?
"said the blackberry to the iphone" lol
No internal charging! They are making us upgrade that later too.
That's a specific to the variant he has I assume, pro version may include it.
@@jpsalis it doesn't.
Thank you @AndyRC , I was between TX16S and T18 Pro, mostly leaning torwards the T18 Pro cause of the gimbals, thought they were something special, I was certain the screen was a touch screen and not a regular one and I would be willing to bet there was build in charging. So your video saved me a lot of grief, TX16S it is then, it is after all better looking :P Thank you.
thank you sir! hope all is well! many blessings!
Was nervous when I preordered tx16s because of this. I'm relieved
Also ordered the radiomaster. And after watching this review, im glad I did. 174 euro for the T18pro and it doesnt even have so much more.
Ok maybe the case looks nice...
My radiomaster tx16s will ship in just a few more days, glad I went for the radiomaster, just seems to be a lot better in so many ways.
Great video Andy for now i wil stay with my jumpe T16 pro its been great to me and so far everything works great .
Fantastic review, Andy! Thanks a lot! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
If you're buying a radio because it has a hydro dipped faceplate......... slap yourself.
The T18 jumper does not have the ability to charge the battery via USB-C, while the Radiomaster TX16s has a USB-C charging connector and two UART ports on the bottom of the radio, e.g. for firmware uploads to the receiver.
There is also an SD card slot on the bottom, so you can pull it out without opening the battery compartment.
Internal antenna at 2.4GHz is in my opinion a bad idea, because we lose the possibility of regulating the radiation beam in relation to the drone (it is mentioned in the material).
Another disadvantage is that none of the T18 has a touch-screen - and you will have to change the display to be compatible with OpenTX2.8 !
The last difference - Radiomaster TX16S has a selection wheel made of metal.
To sum up - Personally, I think the T18 is a step backwards from the TX16S. That's a pity, Jumper.
Great review as always. Really enjoy the way you review products, very informative and to the point
Do you think the jumper t18 with crossfire (instead of R9), the tx16s with crossfire or the tango 2 with a multi-protocol mod?
Who,s still rocking the Flysky fs-i6x...😂
superb review kind sir!
Everyone complains about frsky changing stuff to lock others out but as you said I very much doubt TBS will ever share crossfire with a multi protocol module. Personally I still like the look of the radiomaster set. Thanks for the review Andy 👍
Exactly - FRSKY has every right to protect its IP. I remember when Hobbyking started selling clones of Spectrum RX's - everyone went ape and started saying they were killing the industry etc - but when FRSKY try to protect their own stuff - everyone turns on them.
@@ScowlerJase
What are you talking about? No one turned on them because they were protecting their IP's!
Hi andy! I have a question for you about this controller and hopefully you can answer question I have. I know your busy person. Arris hobby sells this in a rtf dazzle kit that I really like to get. The only reason I'm holding off is I'm trying know if with this kit will I be able to switch to the 900mz 300 watt system with only a adjustment on controller or will I have to buy more stuff to make that option work? Cause I dont think I like how the 2.4 antenna setup is inside. In there rtf kit its jumper t18. Not pro or lite. Just wondering with rx that kit comes with if will be as simple as a setting in remote switching back and forth. If you can clarity would be awesome cause I like this kit and that 300 watt option but dont want to have to buy modules or receiver in order for that to work.
No Touchscreen is a bad decision because you get the TS with the TX16S... for me a dealbreaker :(
I do not have any lights for the switch lables at my T18pro ... what is it?
Wonder what the 2.4Ghz range is now in this with the internal antenna
Excellent review Andy! thanks for that.
I think that being able to (re) flash frsky receivers has become even More important though since new ones now come with Access on them..
Presumably we can flash receivers from the JR-bay?
happy to see it supports the corona protocol.. wouldn't want to be without That :)
It doesn't come with a touch screen. Yea I would still get the radiomaster over this
can we confirm this? other channels have mentioned it is.
@@TechVerified2K nope it doesn’t i have it
I have the Carbon Pro 16, I really like the carbon skin on this radio.....My single complaint is that I wish I had one more single stage switch, but besides that its been really great. I have just about every kind of RC flying thing you can think of and this radio steps in and just gives you freedom and generally good quality. The only feature I see that I do like is USB C, having the DJI system and other USB flight stacks in C would make it super nice to have..
I started to use the x lite for whoop and got the tango 2 pro and now I cant bring myself to use again those full size radios.. and it is son convenient in the bag
I have pre 2019 x9d+ se carbon and now tbs tango 2, was thinking to get rid of x9d+ and buy this one. Thank you for your review, this has put me off. will keep searching....
Hold off and check the latest live stream from TBS, seems like you might be able to get by with just the tango :)
some of us use both r9 and crossfire, r9 is actually quite good despite the early on problems, not as good as crossfire but good enough to guarantee no failsafes while flying in normal conditions within a mile or two.
As per this video the failsafe is not working with r9 on this transmitter. Ad it won't support access r9 either. So jumper might have to come up with an exclusive r9 receiver themselves. Sounds less lucrative to me?
@@AndyRCchannel Actually I'm quite excited about the prospect of a 3rd party r9 receiver, perhaps they will be able to keep them in stock. Hopefully they won't go "surprise, go buy a new r9m new radio and all new receivers" either.
Is there a way to use the regular r9 module to achieve 1000mw output power??? I’m asking for a friend
Weird they would include the 868mhz band and then make it the default main antenna as well...this makes the 2.4g antenna a little compromised..Added to which, most 868mhz and 915 users will have proper Bay Modules.
I'd have the Radiomaster over this one.
I cant see how the antenna is 915 in the first place. Its the first thing id switch out. luckily its sma so id switch it to a nice crossfire one. although r9 is rpsma so anyone wanting to use r9 antennas wont work
@@AndyRCchannel Yes, the RD casing looks rather short for 868mhz...You could use an adaptor for the connector, nobody will use that tiny RD, only the ignorant of course...Obvious the real users will utilise their JR Bay Modules
great review as always, thanks Andy.. cheers
Damn you AndyRC, now I want one. I bought my T16 Pro a few months ago, at least I only spent £90 for it.
Is the SPort available via the JR-Bay, i.e. could I use a servo cable to flash FrSky?
The internal 2.4Ghz antenna doesn't look like a bad spec either, 3.3dBi Peak. Be curious to see a range test with it though.
yes, I have tried to flash my R9MM with T18 and success with no problem. Also I have flight with 2.4Ghz internal antena with my R-XSR about 800 meters with no problem. but not test on bando yet.
Wow. Really thorough review Andy. They look really nice those radios. I'm sticking with my X9D+ for now. Too much muscle memmory 😉
Just to confirm, this radio doesn't work with Crossfire, correct?
If that is true, how long will it take to break such a protocol?
Is it still worth it to invest in an external Crossfire module?
What a great video! thank you! I really enjoy watching your videos, because you dont talk about stuff nobody cares, you always get to the main point!
i follow your channel for some years now and this had to be said now ! greetings from germany - felix
All I want my tx to be is to be as small as possible with full throw hall gimbals, Jr bay, multiprotocol, an e ink screen instead of that power hungry lcd display. These radios are getting so close to what I want
So... My Radiomaster TX16S was the right disisision for me.
Thanks Andy
Thanks for review. Would appreciate a video of how to change to mode 1 from mode 2. Almost impossible to purchase already in mode 1. I have seen no one advertising it. I have the T18 lite arriving this week. No big deal about having to take batteries out to charge. QX7 is the same. Using the T18 lit to replace FlySky i6 so I can have voice as well as telemetry.
Nice review Andy thanks 👍🏻 been waiting for this one. Now need to choose between the two, a bit conflicted now 🤔 just getting back into the hobby. 👍🏻🙂
Honest question, what's the point in having that large color screen? I only fly FPV quadcopters, but perhaps planeguys would benefit from this screen? To me it seems like a huge power drain and cost increaser.
Those lights 😍
😁
A really honest first review. I am waiting for users coming up with range issues due bad antenna polarisation on transmitter and model at 2.4 Ghz. Btw, a 915Mhz antenna for Europeans that should run 868 Mhz......, really crude.
Is there any easyer improvement to change from mode2 to mode1 ?
Seems like the only real improvement over the T16 is no ribbon cables . 1 step forward 2 steps back IMO . Pretty lights just run the battery down quicker and most people use crossfire so R9 don't add much .
As always nice review, good job Andy
Glad you enjoyed it
andy love your channel, how do i connect t18 pro to the r9 mini receiver ? thanks
Hi Andy, love the channel, is it possible in the near future you would cover setting up the flysky fs i8 with a quad as there are no videos on the hole of google only 3-4 that do a review ?
I think the length determines the frequency ?
well this will be interesting coming from the R9 club , seeing how many people have proplem with the native Frsky one ...
personally I'm getting a Tango 2 , don't need any of the bling
is this tx compatible with radio link ?
Been waiting for this. Think I'll stick with my nirvana lol.
does it do futaba fasst?
Quite an objective review. Thanks.
I pre-ordered the RadioMaster T16. In Australia, we can't fly out of line of sight unless you have a remotely piloted aircraft operator's certificate. You must have a hold an ACN or ARBN, to get one. So not a hobbyist. So the R9 feature is of no use to me. I also don't like the internal flat 2.4ghz aerial. Those backlights are pointless, as we can't fly in the dark either. I think the fact the touch screen is included in the RadioMaster hall sensor model, is a good idea. It saves having to buy an upgraded panel to add later if you want to use it. Overall impression of the Jumper T18 is "muh."
As always, good video Andy!
I'm not a fan of removable antennas but... It looks like it would be OK to remove the 915 antenna while flying on 2.4. I WOULD like that.
Also not a fan of internal antennas. Hope we get a report on range and reliability with this one.
Very good review I agree with your pick.
anyone here could help me out to use this controller to my game Liftoff on PC? what cord should I buy?
Radiomaster is definitely better value, touchscreen, better placed memory card, jumper is a pain to get in and out, better overall quality, and even if you have to buy a separate module for the r9 protocol I’m sure it’ll work out cheaper. Radiomaster is definitely the one to get, and I’m glad that I have one on preorder.
I think I'll go for it too, any idea of it's release date?
Vincent Vincent , mine is on back order and will be sent in just a few more days, so looking forward to getting it in my hands.
Thanks for the great review Andy! It looks like a nice radio, but I must say I am pleased I went with the Radiomaster. The only tiny problem I’ve noticed with my Radiomaster is that one of the side rubber grips doesn’t butt up completely to the transmitter housing at the back so I can still see the tabs - has yours got the same problem?
frsky did not like the jumper t16 and now in the t18 ther Work together and put the frsky longrange Thing inside ?
no they split apart and created the radiomaster tx16s and the jumper t18 in this video
Jus a question. Radiomaster is it the best sound volume ? They said radiomaster tx16s has a lower volume.
Thanks for the review for t18
they both sound too loud to me and im deaf haha
@@AndyRCchannel hahahaha funny bro andy... nice one... well i think ill purchase radiomaster tx16s hehe... it is cheaper and.... as like u said i dont need r9m.. . im using crsf tx lite.. thanks bro
I wonder if they'll cram 433mhz into a forseeable T20... I've got an unwrapped T16 ay home, but still using the first generation T8sg for flying.
Kinda seems the Radio master is a tad better.. you get a better button selection.. and plug in charging for your batteries.
Thanks for this Andy. I started flying drones when the FrSky x-lite came out. Now these radios seem so massively gigantic to me. But my x-lite is really beat up (it adds 'character' to the look hehheh, but it still functions great)...
Alas there are just not enough switches on the x-lite so it's time to upgrade to a giant boom box sized radio.
My only question is, do you think the Radio Master company has lasting power? It sounds like they are a new company (I don't know) which worries me a little.
Thanks kindly!
In Joshua bardwell video he said it came with touch screen and it would be activated in a firmware update this is not the case?
All information regarding the touch screen came from jumper directly. You will have to buy new panels off them which they have reserved for purchase
the english sure do know how to complain. they make good reviewers
How about flight tests?
Andy you say it will bind to any rc protocol. So will this bind to Radiolink?
I said it will pretty much bind to any protocol. I think they have struggled to crack radiolink and some futaba as well. like I say take a look at deviationtx or the multimodule github site for specific info. Cheers
@@AndyRCchannel There is simply no provided tx & rx to work on the protocol. That´s what Pascal said.
@@AndyRCchannel Cheers Andy, just be great if it could bind to Radiolink, save me buying all new recievers
I own a TX16s and seriously questioning why:
1. If multi protocol needs to be tuned to even *approach* a genuine Frsky, I'm not sure of the benefit. Be sure to keep your old school Frsky.
2. Hall effect used to connote quality. These gimbals are not high quality, it refers to function.
3. Sound on speaker is so quiet as to be less than half of what you're used to.
4. Touch screen doesn't work and who knows how well it will eventiually.
5. OpenTx on these radios wants me to go back to my X9D screen. Can't believe I'm saying this, but who needs such a big screen? I bought the TX16 thinking I'd love it but ti just shows how antiquated OpenTx interface really is.
5. Higher quality? Mine arrived with a non-functioning scroll wheel.
Just remember these are budget radios at a budget price and you won't be disappointed.
Hi, Thank you for your video is helping me to understand di remote, buat what I dont get it is, How to change power output while Im using R9 built in modul ? cause ive been observe on internet, this R9 built in can be reach 100mw-300mw, but I dont find how to change it
As most people have said they seem to change there radios almost monthly. The sliders are pretty poor on both models, so I will stick with Frsky as the build quality is far better
All the t18 pros reviews are dropping and it’s making me start cracking out for my shipment notification. I’ve never been this excited for a radio!
Also aware we 100 percent that production models aren’t going to charge via usb?
Oh no, disappointed by the look of this now, quality/features look poo in comparison to radiomaster :(
build in same factory.
As far as I understand it the 2 onbuttons are for quick turn off... if you press the both at the same time it shuts down quickly...
yes although it makes a loud hissing noise when you do it.
AndyRC what? XD is that normal?:o
AndyRC what? XD is that normal?:o
Very informative. Thanks 👍
I got the pro and wont read sd card
How is the build quality TX16S vs T18?
Radiomaster wins
there's no built in charging? Again. why dont they sell these as a kit will just build our own! i have a t16pro with built in charging via usb c (upgraded with the kit fron unmanned tech) im not seeing anything worthy of a change or even upgrade. cheers Andy
What 433mhz uhf system did you test with it?
the old hawkeye, dont think they make it anymore but couple of watts of power :)
AndyRC that is great, they still sell the equivalent orangerx which I’m now using with the ultimate lrs firmware
the carbon is straight. Yes.
Amazing...
Thank you for the information relly helps me out
Ps: FREEKING LOVE THE CHANNEL 😅😁
thanks for watching. Cheers
And Thank you for Coupon discount 👍😉👏👏👏👏you are the best
Cant jump ! :D
Hi
hi :)
high :D
Problem with SD card. No built-in charge. Failsafe that doesn't work at delivery. Why do I feel this was rushed to market?
Competition I would say from radiomaster and tbs
Already have have t16 pro up2graded with everything and jumper is sending me a custom wite package to get rid of ribbon cables . I wouldnt waste money on this not worth it to.me
When I emailed Jumper about the upgraded ribbon cables they said it was weeks out due to shipping issues or I could pay extra shipping myself and they would send it direct to my retailer to get it sooner . I replied just ship it to my retailer then no answer with an ETA since that reply . I suspect they are trying to recoup the cost of the new cables with shipping fees but they never stated how much that would be .
Wow, does it bind to 35 MHz too? 😀
For sure. You only need a 35 MHz JR module and a fancy antenna conversion. You can get tons of it on ebay 😁
It looks sooo neat! But i would consider NOT buying it. Afternthe turnigy Evolution inbought a Q7X, x-lite, X9lite..
The Evolution i don‘t use because ADFS2A, Q7X too large, x-lite not as comfy as Evolution, X9lite because of Access.
The T18 is a large transmitter again, then i should buy TBS Tango2pro. But wait - soon we will see the first Lora based transmitters which turns everything else into 27Mhz territory. So in the end i still use the Turnigy Evolution on my Sims because of it’s intuitive handling and the Q7X on all my Quads. Yes we all have the GAS - Gear Akquisition Syndrome.
Just saw Gal Kremer having the first Lora based transmitter: Siyi FT24
Wou i am confused becose i did not know abot new Jumper realise.I was thinkin that Radiomaster wil be it and did not hawe information abot NEW JUMPER T18 and i think that the market off Radio TX's i over saturated.......I am still running my old Jumper T8SG Plus and for me is ok and i am use to it...
Fly 4 fun Tech Freak , if you want one get the radiomaster, much better, just without the 915mhz, just buy the crossfire or r9 module and it would still be cheaper.
Hello Andy!
hi!
Whatcha doin bro?
@@kartikgkalita youtube init :)
:)
tango 2 4 life bun these radios haha
No built-in charge capacity......give it 6 months (maybe 3) !
To be honest..... I am very disappointed in this radio.
Costs £20 more than the T16 and has arguably less features than the Radiomaster.
Najs!
I just got my radio and Bangood will not publish my review so Andy may I use your comments section to address a few major issues with this. DONT BUY THIS radio the scroll wheel is a pain to work with its frustrating and it took me hours just to set up my first model. I would wait for a fix to come out or buy something else. I ignored this and I am regretting.
I want one 👍👌😉
I am getting a bit annoyed that these 2 companies keep making the same radio with 1 or 2 different things, we want innovation
I think when you compare the two you can see where they disagreed
AndyRC ya totally
Jumper bring out new jumper T18. Ends up being worse then the jumper T16. FAIL!!!
Runs on rechargeable 18650s yet they have removed the charging option instead of spending a bit of time to sort out the issues on the older one. Another FAIL.
So instead of fixing something useful that EVERYONE would use and appreciate They added pretty backlights to the buttons so NO ONE can read them and will just glare in your face. FAIL..!!
I was hoping for better things from jumper with the T18. But they have failed in my eyes. I have a jumper t16 and was going to upgrade to this but I don’t think I will be now. Sort it out jumper!!!
Very disappointed by the quality of the roller. Its like something you would buy in a Pound shop. Its loose and hops all over the place when you try to select something. I accept that it is a cheap radio but that does not excuse such shoddy workmanship.
What a trash thing.. so glad with my radiomaster T16s :D
