    I got PSA's gen 3 in 308 w/20" barrel January this year. I've been getting to shoot 60 rounds every weekend since then except for a few. Its ran flawlessly so far. I get 1moa using Winchester m80 ball and sub with SMK 175 bthp. I replaced a2 flash hider w/ compensator and put on rubber moe grip. Glass is primary arms 4‐14×44 acss hud. I love it, I watched every review on UA-cam to ease my mind cause I've read about more than a few bad reviews on psa. Man Its a danm good rifle accurate and has a fairly light recoil impulse. Never a single msis feed. Good review hope your rifle is what you were hoping for.

    Love mine in 20" 6.5 Creedmoor, a tack driver at 200 yards plus. BUT at 11 lbs it is insanely heavy with about the same kick as my 5.56. Fit and finish is amazing, and if you handle the weight get one while you can as they are magic shooting. You get what you pay for in these, Get a good long range scope and a good mount you'll never regret it.

      I'm glad to here that your set up works that well. For me I find my barrel is picky with ammo but does run flawlessly and has so much potential for the money. I do plan to pick up a 6.5 creedmoor upper for this set up to switch out.

    • @airborneivan
      @airborneivan  3 роки тому +6

      I'm gonna hold on to it. I understand that their demand is insane right now and if that's the worst out of the QC issues then I'll take it. It's a simple fix and doesn't affect the reliability of the rifle but I do understand where you're coming from. Spending that type of money you'd expect to have things be as they should.

    Question. I just ordered this same rifle but with a 20" barrel. I will be using this AR 10 for some Deer hunting but mostly have it for self defence if things get crazy! On my farm my max shot would be 350 yards. Most shots would be under 100. Was hoping some one could give me an idea what Brand and grain to shoot. The prices of ammo are crazy so was hoping for suggestions on what to use for getting it close at 50 yards. Once on paper then i could switch to some better quality ammo to get it dialed in. Would like to end up shooting 168 - 180 grain for hunting. Also a scope reccomendation would also be appreciated. Hoping to keep the cost of scope under $400 if possible. Thanks for any help.

    • @airborneivan
      @airborneivan  2 роки тому +2

      Congrats on the purchase. In terms of ammo the selection is extremely wide. You'll have to really research the ammo and find what will work best for your intended use. I have mine set up for 168gr hpbt. I can't hunt with semi autos in my state so that wasn't a concern for me but if I needed to I could take a deer no problem with that round.
      As far as you're intended range goes I would consider an LVPO in the 1-6x range. Sig Saure, Primary Arms, Swampfox, etc, to name a few that will give you good glass, good reticle options and reliability but will keep you around the $400 price range.

    For the price point of under 900 there are no bad points on this gun. I’ve got around 2500 rounds through mine and its still like I took it out of the box! Also it’s not a Picatinny rail, it’s a 1911 rail.

    • @airborneivan
      @airborneivan  2 роки тому +1

      I know... 1913 is the designation. Picatinny refers to Picatinny Arsenal where it was designed. Most people know this but Picatinny rail has been used for so long people just know it as such. I have made this distinction in other videos. As for the rifle, I went a few months without shooting it and took it back out two weekends ago. Forgot how much I enjoy shooting it and how accurate it is for the price. Solid buy IMHO.

    Norma ball ammo is accurate. And affordable. You might want to consider bedding the barrel to the receiver. The military did a test and found a thirty percent increase in accuracy when they bedded the barrel to the receiver.

      What is "bedding" the barrel to the receiver?

    • @airborneivan
      @airborneivan  Рік тому +1

      @Mark Norwood using some type of compound or shim-stock to take up the play between the barrel extension and the upper receiver. Helps reduce movement and maintains consistent harmonics of the barrel from shot to shot.

      @p47rr Рік тому

      I use loctite 609. That is what Criterion barrels recommends. They have a video on UA-cam showing how. Basically degrease parts. Smear on barrel extension. Install. High heat grease or anti seize on barrel nut threads. I use heat resistance blue loctite on gas block set screws.

    POF has a forged aluminum heat sink barrel nut on their rifles that dissipates heat away from their bolt carriers. Very affective in a DI rifle.

    • @airborneivan

      I get it. But I could pretty much guarantee POF is using a lot better aluminum than what PSA is using.

      @richardescareno2433 3 роки тому

      You're correct. POF rifles are forged bullet aluminum.

    • @chrisgullett4332
      @chrisgullett4332 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, but you do not want to use an aluminum barrel nut, cause it can cause a galvanic reaction. Most people do not know that different types of metals touching each other will cause those metals to corrode. That is why all the parts are coated, cause if there was not a layer between the metals the gun would rot. That is why you use anti seize grease on the barrel nut, so that the steel and aluminum do not actually touch. With an aluminum barrel nut the only section protected from galvanic reaction is the threads. You want to use a steel nut so that the steel touches steel, and put grease on the threads so the steel threads do not actually touch the aluminum threads.
