After over 50 years of playing I finally tried the luthier knot. Guitar is holding a tune like never before in spite of weather changes humidity changes etc. When it comes time to take it off I think I'll be able to figure it out. Not exactly splitting the atom. Cheers!
When I remove strings tied with a luthier's knot it isn't really hard. I wind them down, snip them at the octave fret, unwind them at the top and POP out they come. If they resist, needlenose pliers finish the job.
I was in a car accident and I had a brain injury and I know little bit about taking care of guitar a bit man, before the traumatic brain injury i used to be one hell of a player. It's good to see that you put your strings exactly you like I have for the past 30 plus years
I´ve been there, no brain injury, but a few other major life injuries. Last one 11 years ago. I was so weak getting out of the hospital I could only press one nylon string on a ukelele at a time... Keep up the hard work Ziggy. It´s worth it. I´m getting into frequencies and grounding... Switching my tuning of the guitar to 432 Hz instead of 440 Hz is better for "The Mind & The Body"... Barefooting on the ground or even just touching/grasping a branch or tree is said to relieve the body from inflammation... Light & Frequencies... an amazing world I knew nothing about earlier... 🙂
Same here. My Guitar Teacher showed me this when we changed the strings on my Hondo II electric. That was back in 1974, this method has worked every time for me since then.
i honestly thought this was the normal/ most common way to do your strings... lol, also... i think your "seagull" is way to low. ive never seen them that tight before but im also not a huge fender guy.
wait.... people pay other people to change there string?? wtf?? it takes more skill to play guitar then it does to do most maintenance on one. i swear these people are just lazy lol. great video tho
@@guitar-niche well there were a lot of reasons mention, one guy who works for gruhns said when he worked for washburn they did studies that showed it did not increase tuning stability and that the one loop on top and 2 to 2.5 loops on bottom was the most stabil
@@BobbyCulpepper.srv3fender I mean you decided to comment and when someone made a point that you can do the same thing with the knot you have nothing relevant to say. I personally have never used the luthiers knot and have always done once over and 2-3 times under, but that's something I figured out on my own. Doesn't mean the knot is bad.
Waste of time . Im a tech that works on many guitars a day, this is a waste of time putting on and taking off. Staying in tune is 80% at the Nut. Get Locking Tuners save all that time. Just because Martin does it doesn’t mean it’s smart.

Thanks!! Glad to know it works for you.

I've used it for 40+ years. It works like a locking tuner.

No luthier is going to tie up a mess like that. What they will do is add to the price for having to undo the whole mess.
Doesn't cost a cent extra, and it's simple as pie to take them off if you know what you're doing: ua-cam.com/video/Fa3AzgRlbMA/v-deo.html

Yeah, many vintage Fenders and repros have the seagulls plastered to the headstock face which adds a hiccup to restringing.

I would only pay if I had a Floyd Rose, because I don't want to frig with it infinitely.
The top session guitar players in Nashville and their luthiers that work on their guitars all agree that a luthiers knot is a bad idea
Can you explain as to why?

Nothing stops us to loop 2 times below with the knot...

No luthier use that method,
There is a better way then this by going under and over
Maybe! Been there, done that. Have to test all the variations :)

Thanks for your insightful comment!
Cool, how do you like working at guitar center?
